Akame ga Kill: Starting with Dual Kamui

Extra: Esdeath (3)

“Really?”

Esdeath was taken aback.

She had never considered the possibility—after all, she hadn’t even known what “morning sickness” was. But now that she understood the cause, that strange feeling of unease faded significantly.

“So, what should I do next? Just wait until I give birth?”

She turned to Blayn for answers.

“Well, to be precise, you should focus on nurturing the baby. I'll take care of you.”

Blayn reassured her, his tone serious. “You may be an all-powerful General, but at a time like this, I’d really like you to rely on me a little more.”

“Hmm... being taken care of, huh...”

Esdeath gave a small nod.

She was already deeply attached to Blayn, so she had no intention of rejecting his care. In fact, she happily clung to his arm, a faint blush coloring her cheeks.

...

As a general, Esdeath naturally had no shortage of attendants to look after her.

However, even during her pregnancy, she only allowed Blayn near her room.

After all, with her strength, she never truly needed anyone’s care, and something as trivial as pregnancy posed no real risk to her. If even this could endanger her, she would have perished long ago in the wild, battling Danger Beasts as a child.

Letting Blayn take care of her was almost purely for enjoyment.

...

A few months passed.

As Esdeath’s belly grew, she became fully aware of the life developing inside her. More precisely, she sensed that she was carrying twins.

Her body was naturally suited for childbirth, and with her extraordinary abilities, even delivering twins posed no difficulty.

When Blayn finally held the two newborns in his arms, Esdeath used her ice abilities to seal her wounds instantly.

Since she was immune to her own power, the method worked flawlessly.

It didn’t take long before her body was back to normal.

Sitting by the bed, she leaned against Blayn’s shoulder, gazing at the two tiny, adorable babies.

“They’re both girls... twins, and even...”

Blayn’s voice held a note of surprise. “They seem to have inherited your Teigu.”

“Really?”

Esdeath, too, was taken aback.

“Look at the mark on their chests. It’s identical to yours.”

Blayn pointed out.

The elder twin had inherited Blayn’s black hair, while the younger sister had Esdeath’s signature ice-blue locks.

Both bore the same mark on their chests—the symbol of the Teigu Demon God Manifestation: Demon's Extract.

“This is unbelievable... A Teigu should only have one rightful owner.”

Esdeath murmured, her mind racing.

“Maybe it’s because Demon's Extract is a special blood-based Teigu. And since you drank an entire pot of it back then, it likely altered your bloodline without you realizing it. Bloodline traits can be passed down, though they usually weaken over generations.”

Blayn speculated.

“That explanation does make the most sense... But this works out well. I wouldn’t want my daughters to be weak.”

Esdeath’s words sounded harsh, but the love in her gaze as she looked at her children was unmistakable.

The massacre of her father and clan had taught her that the world was ruled by the strong. Yet, if she had been given a choice back then, she would have done anything to protect them.

Her belief in “survival of the fittest” had always been a way to steel herself—to ensure she had no weaknesses. But in reality, if she had the power to save someone, she wouldn’t just stand by and watch them perish.

She had shown that much to her subordinates. How could she not do the same for her own daughters?

Of course, the cold and ruthless Esdeath of the past had already begun to change under Blayn’s constant companionship and care.

She was no longer the cruel woman who once unleashed Ice Commander in Chief upon the Empire, turning entire regions into frozen wastelands.

That being said, her core personality remained the same.

“Have you thought of names?”

Esdeath suddenly asked.

“I was just thinking about that. How about I name one, and you name the other?”

Blayn suggested.

"Sounds good."

Esdeath nodded.

"I’ll name the older one Shiranui."

Blayn decided, choosing a name that matched his own.

"Shiranui, huh... Then I’ll name the younger one Shirayuki."

Esdeath followed suit.

Blayn smiled warmly, gazing at the two tiny figures in his arms.

"Shiranui, Shirayuki... Welcome to this beautiful world."
