Chapter 711: Chapter 356: Presidential Motorcade and Private Plane_2
“Tallahassee.”
“Okay, I’ll get started on the takeoff procedures right away.”
Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, had a population of around 200,000.
After about two hours, the private plane landed at the Myers Airport in the city.
“Time really flies!”
On previous flights, David had always found the journey tedious, but today’s trip left him somewhat reluctant to leave.
The reason, of course, was that private planes were just too entertaining.
“Yes, private jets are comfortable. At least future trips won’t be so boring.”
Manson and the others were also experiencing private jets for the first time and looked equally unwilling to leave.
“Alright, let’s get the car down. We’ve got serious business to attend to!”
After the car was offloaded, David briefed the crew that he had some business to take care of in the city and might need a day or two, suggesting they settle in first.
Then, they left the airport.
…
Forty minutes later, David and his companions drove to a neighborhood in the eastern part of Tallahassee’s downtown area.
“According to the information we received, this is the residential address of Senator Raglen Milken!”
Manson pointed to a house in front of them.
David nodded, then got out of the car and walked up to the door to ring the bell.
About two minutes later, the door was opened by a woman wearing an apron.
However, upon seeing David’s face, the woman seemed as if she had been hit by a Petrification Spell, frozen in place.
“Good afternoon, Madam Candice.”
When David mentioned her name, the woman finally snapped out of it, responding anxiously, “Isn’t this Chief Inspector David? May I ask… what brings you here?”
“We’re here to see Senator Raglen.”
“He’s… not at home.”
“Then ask him to come back. Tell him I’m here and will be waiting at his house!”
“This…”
Candice hesitated, but remembering David’s renowned reputation, she dared not refuse him, merely gesturing invitingly, “Chief Inspector David, please come in!”
David and his party did not stand on ceremony and walked straight in.
Upon entering the living room, they saw a young boy around seven or eight and a little girl around five or six playing with a pile of block toys.
“Oh my gosh, it’s Batman, Batman has come to our house!”
When the boy saw David’s face, he immediately screamed in excitement.
But his words stunned David and his group.
Given his current fame and constant presence on various major media outlets, it wasn’t strange that a sensible child like this boy could recognize him.
But what was this Batman about?
Bearing a trace of curiosity, David approached the boy and bent down to ask, “What’s your name?”
“I’m Ethan, my name is Ethan!”
After stating his name, the boy politely extended his right hand.
And David, intrigued, shook it and continued, “Alright Ethan, I heard you call me Batman just now. Why would I be Batman?”
“Because you can do anything!”
“Hmm?”
David looked puzzled.
“I often see you on TV; you’re like Batman. You put lots of criminals in jail, and I’ve even heard my dad say that because of you, our country’s security has improved a lot. That’s why my classmates and I all think you are like Batman!”
Upon this explanation, David finally understood.
However, being praised so fiercely by such a young boy made him blush, and he immediately protested, “I’m not any sort of Batman, Batman is way more incredible than me, he can do anything, I’m just an ordinary person.”
“No, being able to strike against those criminals and send them to jail, that’s exactly what Batman does!”
“Alright, if you say so…”
This time, David didn’t argue any further and turned his head to look at the little girl, asking, “Is this your sister, what’s her name?”
“Her name is Mason, she’s already 5 years old!”
While the two conversed, Candice came out of the kitchen with a tray in hand, on which were several cups filled with water.
“Please have some water, Inspector David.”
“Thank you!”
As everyone picked up their glasses, they all simultaneously voiced their thanks.
“No need to be nervous, Madam Candice, we’re just here to have a chat with Senator Raglen today, nothing more.”
“Okay, Inspector David, I’ve informed my husband, and he said he will hurry back as soon as possible, please wait a moment…”
Candice was still somewhat uneasy. Although she was just a housewife, as the wife of a senator, she was aware of certain matters.
And clearly understood that David’s sudden visit to their home was definitely not for a simple matter.
David nodded, but said nothing more.
During the wait, it was evident that the little boy named Ethan was truly his ardent little fan.
He not only brought out paper and pen for an autograph, but even asked his mother to take out her phone to take a picture with him.
These were mere small requests, and naturally, David fulfilled them all.
“Thank you, Inspector David.”
On TV, David’s image was that of a tough, impartial, and even ‘fearsome demon.’
But in the short time of over half an hour, Candice had revised her impression of him.
This Inspector David wasn’t as ferocious as the media had portrayed him, on the contrary, he seemed quite amiable.
Only, what matter could he have come to discuss with her husband?
The thought made Candice anxious again.
“Don’t mention it…”
As they were speaking, the door clicked open, and a man dressed in a suit and carrying a briefcase walked in.
“Raglen, you’re finally back. Inspector David has been waiting here for you for quite some time.”
Candice hurriedly went to greet him.
Raglen frowned as he glanced at David and the others sitting down, then told Candice, “I know. Take the children to the room.”
Without daring to ask more, Candice quickly took both children from the living room into a room.
“Inspector David, your unannounced visit to Nevada State and coming to find me in my home… What matter is it?”
Raglen came over and sat down on the sofa opposite David.
“I’ve heard that you, Senator Raglen, have a good relationship with Mr. Sean, but these past few days, when Mr. Sean has been wanting to talk to you, you’ve been rejecting him on the grounds of being too busy with official duties. Is it really that busy, Senator Raglen?”
Indeed, this Raglen was originally a senator representing the interests of the Kennedy Family, but after David’s ‘death’ led the Kennedy Family to a desperate situation, he became a swing vote.
In the last few days, as Sean kept contacting him, trying to bring him back to their side, it was unknown what deal this guy had reached with Freemasonry, as he seemed dead set against any talk.
And after David got wind of this from Sean, he decided to come and meet him in person!
“Inspector David, as you know, the midterm election is about to start, and I must focus on it. As for other matters, I really don’t have the time to attend to them right now, I ask for your understanding…”
Raglen expressed his predicament with a troubled look.
You’re aware of the midterm elections, but haven’t you forgotten who provided you with the funding and publicity you needed to win your seat as a senator?”
“This…”
Raglen turned shades of green and purple, embarrassed.
For he knew well that his rise to the senator’s position was indeed thanks to the funding and various kinds of support from the Kennedy Family.
What do you think?
