Chapter 85: Breaking In
Luo Ye's face darkened as he immediately shifted his gun to the other side, rolled down the window, and fired a burst at the scrawny freak sprinting through the darkness.
RATATATATAT!
But the thin monkey-like man was unbelievably agile. His insect-like legs propelled him forward at an insane speed, weaving effortlessly through the forest. Luo Ye's machine gun wasn’t the most accurate, and his bullets only kicked up dirt, stone, and snow behind the fleeing figure—not a single shot hit.
Meanwhile, the thin man let out a crazed laugh, sprinting towards his convoy while shouting:
"HAHAHAHA! Boss, there's only ONE guy, TWO hot chicks, and the rest is ALL SUPPLIES! Hurry up and take 'em! If you're late, you won’t even get the scraps!"
His words were like gasoline on a fire.
The bandit convoy erupted in excitement.
RATATATATAT!
BANG! BANG!
With the first shots fired, the entire convoy opened fire, unleashing a storm of bullets toward Luo Ye's position.Gunfire rained down like a metal storm. Sparks flew as bullets ricocheted off the Infinite Train’s steel armor. Luo Ye and Shasha had no choice but to duck behind cover.
Countless headlights and searchlights illuminated the night, casting a glaring brightness over the train.
Seeing Luo Ye pinned down, the attackers grew even more reckless. Some gunned their engines and charged toward the train, extending their rifles out of car windows to fire indiscriminately.
"They only have three people!"
"The train is LOADED with supplies!!"
"Kill the guy!"
TINK! TINK! TINK!
Bullets clinked harmlessly off the Infinite Train’s armor. It was like shooting a fortress—their standard rounds did nothing.
But the raiders didn’t care. Their eyes were red with greed and bloodlust. They only needed to keep Luo Ye suppressed long enough to reach the train.
Some of the incoming vehicles began to flank, while others charged straight for the armored car, aiming to hijack it.
Someone raised a Molotov cocktail.
The bandits had begun their full-scale assault on the train.
Meanwhile, in the pitch-black Car No. 1, Lin Xian paced back and forth, deep in thought.
The headless, red-dressed ghost in lingerie stood motionless nearby, while her severed head on the ground followed him with its eyes.
"Frequency… frequency…"
Suddenly, he stopped.
His gaze lifted to the ceiling lights, a thought flashing through his mind.
The lights… they worked!
Just now, when he powered them on, they weren’t affected by the eerie frequency.
That meant his Mechanical Heart still worked!
CLACK-CLACK
Lin Xian took a deep breath and flashed the lights twice, then waited for a response.
Moments later—
FLASH. FLASH.
The lights blinked back twice.
Gunfire pounded against the armored train.
BOOM!
Shasha fired a grenade. It hit the hood of a pickup truck, exploding its engine and front tires. The truck flipped end over end, rolling down the mountain slope, its passengers' fates unknown.
But there were too many attackers.
Luo Ye gritted his teeth as he fired back through the window.
"Ge! There are TOO MANY OF THEM!"
Shasha shouted, ducking another burst of bullets.
At the front of the train, at least ten raiders had already leaped out of their vehicles and were sprinting toward the train’s various entry points.
Some ran for the engine car, while others rushed toward Car No. 5 and the armored vehicle.
The Infinite Train’s rear ramp was now surrounded, the bandits wielding steel pipes, crowbars, and machetes.
Someone dragged out a tow hook and a chainsaw.
They were waiting—desperate—for that door to open.
"Don't be scared! There are only THREE of them!"
"We've hit the jackpot!"
"Forget the train—grab the vehicles first!"
The gunfire wasn’t scaring them. They were too greedy to back down.
A dark figure suddenly leaped onto a moving car, then kicked off its roof with monstrous strength.
THOOM!
He rocketed through the air like a cannonball—
CRASH!
Landing heavily on top of the Infinite Train.
He slammed a fist into the armored roof.
BANG!
But all he made was a tiny dent.
His eyes narrowed.
"Tch. This ain't just regular steel."
Realizing brute force wouldn’t work, he dashed toward the rear, aiming to force open the hydraulic ramp!
Lin Xian’s heart pounded as he watched the lights blink back at him.
"That’s gotta be Chen Laoshi!"
His Mechanical Heart worked. The lights worked.
Which meant—Morse code would work too.
"If I can signal a frequency, Chen Laoshi can sync with me!"
"AM07. AM07. Just AM7—she’ll get it!"
Chen Sixuan was a railway professor. She should recognize international light signals.
Lin Xian focused, recalling the Morse sequence for ‘AM7’.
.━/━━/━━.../
He took a deep breath—
And started flashing the lights.
First, three short, three long, three short—SOS.
He had to let her know he was using light signals.
BANG! BANG!
Luo Ye kept firing, but the attackers weren’t slowing down.
At least four advance vehicles had reached the train. Ten bandits ducked behind cover, trying to breach entry points.
The ramp was under siege.
A hulking brute with a metal-coated arm was at the back, trying to pry the hydraulic ramp open with brute force.
SHHHRK!
Sparks flew as his blackened metal fingers wedged into the gap.
"Brother Zhu, get the tow hook!"
"Got it!"
The thin, scorpion-tailed freak sprinted toward them, hauling a metal tow hook.
He planned to latch it onto the ramp and let the vehicles pull it open.
RATATATAT!
Luo Ye opened fire through the gap—
And finally saw the man on the roof.
A bearded brute with gray-black metallic skin.
Bullets bounced off him like they were hitting armor.
The man sneered.
"Good aim, kid."
Then, he gripped the ramp harder.
"But now, I’m gonna RIP this turtle shell wide open!"
What do you think?
