Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Bai Meiyue was lost in her thoughts when she felt something press against her lips. She looked down and was stupefied when she saw that the man was kissing her. Annoyed, she raised her head and smacked the man on the back of his head. She snorted, "What!? Why did you kiss me without asking me?"

"What do you think?" Lei Qian rolled his eyes and then said to her, "I called you more than three times but you never replied to me. I had no choice but to use this tactic."

He then paused and questioned, "What were you thinking about?"

"Nothing," Bai Meiyue's eyes flashed with a dark glint when she thought about the mistake that she might have made in her past life. Now she needed to find out about the woman who clung to her and still backstabbed her when she was not paying attention.

Though there were a bunch of women who got close to her and left in a few months, Bai Meiyue was certain that she would still be able to narrow down the list very soon.

She glanced at the man who was hugging her while she sat in his lap and questioned, "Why did you come looking for me?"

"I wanted to let you know that I am going to look for my grandmother."

"Your grandmother?" Bai Meiyue frowned upon hearing the response of the man. She pursed her lips and after a short pause asked, "isn't she the one…?"

She trailed off and Lei Qian smiled softly. He nodded and said, "Yeah, she is the one who always supports my uncle and aunt." Truthfully, he didn't want to look for his grandma but unfortunately for him, he knew that his grandpa must be with his grandma.

While his grandma was partial towards her youngest son, his grandpa was a good man.

He sighed and said to Bai Meiyue, "In fact, it would be correct to say that I am looking for my grandpa, but I know my grandmother. She is a stubborn woman. As long as she is alive, she would never let go of my grandfather."

That old woman was stubborn, arrogant and obsessive. He heard from his mother that his grandmother was the daughter of a small nouveau rich family but her ambitions were rather high. When she set her eyes on his grandfather, she did everything possible, including throwing her face away, to make his grandpa marry her.

And the reason she supported the second branch was also due to this.

His second aunt climbed up in the bed of his uncle in the same fashion and thus, Grandma Lei took second aunt as her closest kin. Compared to the two of them, his mother was way too elegant and calm.

She could never settle between the two of them, which led his grandmother to be dissatisfied with his mother.

All in all, the two women were clinging like leeches. If they were alive then, his grandpa and his uncle were alive, and so was his cousin.

"You are going to bring the snake home with your own hands?" Bai Meiyue was really amused. She never thought that Lei Qian, who used to be feared by the masses, was also tied down by family restraints.

When Lei Qian saw that Bai Meiyue was happily smiling at him, he reached out and pinched her cheek. He said to her, "It's not that I want to look for them. It's more or less a search to let me know if they are alive or dead. I cannot let my dear cousin attack me when I least expect it."

Lei Qian knew his cousin. That man was jealous of him since they were children; he wanted everything that Lei Qian had and when he didn't get it, he resorted to snatching things from him by complaining to Grandma Lei.

His cousin was like a cockroach that kept bothering him even when he continued to step on him. Lei Qian couldn't leave that man alone. If he was dead then he needed to see his corpse and if he was alive, then he needed to kill him with his own hands before he became an obstacle that he could not deal with.

It had to be either of the two things.

When Bai Meiyue saw the look in his eyes turning serious, she sighed and ruffled his hair before saying, "Don't you get tired of this ?"

"Who says that I am not tired?" Lei Qian smiled sadly. He thought of the many battles that he and his cousin went through and how his grandma supported that man in every unscrupulous thing that he had done; Lei Qian felt so aggrieved that he wished he could lean on someone's shoulder and cry.

He had felt wronged. He had felt unfair but no one had ever cared about what he felt. The care that he received from his family was there but so were the dangers. Every day he was worried about being assassinated because it was easy to fend against the outsiders but how was he supposed to fend against those who were right next to him?

His life had always been a walk on a tightrope. A little mistake and he would be gone.

Lei Qian sighed as he pressed his forehead against Bai Meiyue and said to her, "You might think that I am being too much but I just want to make as many memories as possible with you. I don't know what the future holds and I have no idea how long I might stay alive for. I just wish to stand by your side as long as I am alive."

When Bai Meiyue saw him like this, she knew that Lei Qian's desire of not having children was not wrong. She raised her hand and cupped his cheek before saying to him, "Are you worried that I will forget you?"

The man didn't say anything but his silence was enough of an answer.
