Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Chapter 349 349: Playing The Blame Game

When Bai Meiyue noticed his silence, she sighed. She said to him, "Stop thinking too much; there is no way I will ever be able to forget you."

Bai Meiyue meant these words. Though Lei Qian might think that he held no place in her life, he was wrong. Just because she was unkind and pushy about making him leave, it didn't mean that Bai Meiyue didn't care about him.

With Little Cai Cai, how could she forget this man?

It was simply impossible. Lei Qian's existence was impossible to erase from her life and this was something that Bai Meiyue couldn't tell Lei Qian for the time being. After all, in her past life, when she didn't even know that it was Lei Qian, her son would still often remind her of him.

Who knows who taught it to Little Cai Cai, but he would often ask her whether his father was dead and what being dead meant.

Such questions had often caused pain to Bai Meiyue as she could never tell her son where his father had gone. And when he grew up, Bai Cai started to question her about how his father looked and what kind of person he was. As a child, her son was really curious about his father, whom he had never seen or met.

So how could she forget Lei Qian? It was impossible.

When she raised her head, she could see the disbelief in Lei Qian's eyes and her lips curled up in a soft smile. She knew that the man could not believe her words; if only he had known that she was carrying his son, maybe then he would have understood what she was trying to tell him.

However, Lei Qian didn't want to have a child as he was worried about the safety of this child but what he didn't know was that it was already too late. Not only was Bai Meiyue pregnant with his child, but it was impossible for them to let go of Bai Cai now, as three months had already passed.

It was now dangerous for her to abort the child, and even if it were possible, even the heavens themselves couldn't make her agree to abort her son.

"You—"

There was a knock on the room, interrupting whatever Lei Qian was going to say. Bai Meiyue stepped off his lap and walked to the door. Outside stood her elder brother, who was frowning hard. Seeing this, she asked, "Is something the matter?"

"Madam Ye from the Ye family is causing trouble outside our house along with her daughter-in-law and son. They say that you were the ones who killed their daughter."

Bai Meiyue's brows furrowed before she exhaled heavily. She knew that helping out people in the apocalypse was useless and a job that received nothing but ingratitude but she never thought that she would be dragged into such a mess because of a simple piece of advice.

She said, "I understand. I will deal with this matter."

"Are you sure?" Bai Zhan asked.

"I am sure," Bai Meiyue nodded. She stepped out of the room and walked out of the penthouse.

She didn't even look behind to see if Lei Qian and her brother were following her or not; Bai Meiyue had the confidence that she could deal with this matter on her own.

At the bottom of the staircase where she lived stood a couple in their late thirties.

With a bunch of survivors from Bai Xue's side standing next to them, they made a loud fuss standing at the bottom of the stairs.

Mr. and Mrs. Ye stared up at Bai Meiyue and glared at her when they saw her coming. Yang Chunhua raised her voice and said anxiously, "You are being unreasonable. I have told you countless times that this has nothing to do with you. Your daughter killed herself as soon as the apocalypse started. Sister Meiyue only took a look at the scene when the door was broken open by your mother. What does this have to do with Sister Meiyue?"

"Your daughter was worried and scared because no one was by her side and she killed herself because she couldn't face her fears. If you don't believe it then you can ask others to do justice for you."

Yang Chunhua lived on the same floor as this family and knew that they didn't care about their daughter at all. When the apocalypse had not started, they hardly took care of their daughter and sometimes they even forgot about feeding her.

Now that the apocalypse had started and things had turned south, they were suddenly trying to make use of their daughter's death to gain some benefits. Yang Chunhua was simply disgusted by this family.

Mother Ye didn't even look in Yang Chunhua's direction; with her red-rimmed eyes, she cried while holding the hand of her husband. "You… it's you who bullied my daughter, right? I heard from the residents of the building that you kill and threaten people all the time. It must be you who scared my daughter into taking such a step, right?"

"You are a woman too, right? How can you be so cruel? You threatened and bullied my daughter and then left her dangling by the roof until her corpse turned rotten and half of it was eaten by maggots! You are worse than a beast."

Father Ye, on the other hand, raised his foot and smashed it on the floor, causing it to crack under the impact. "I don't care whether you are crazy or not. You caused my daughter to die. If you don't give us a justification, then I am telling you that the consequences will not be pretty."

His eyes were full of calculations.

They finally returned to their residence after loitering around for so long. Unfortunately, their son didn't awaken and ended up being a cripple. They wanted his sister to take care of him like she used to in the past but who would have thought that their daughter was even more cowardly than they thought; she actually killed herself!
