Chapter 82: Another Void Dao Cultivator
"Fellow Daoist, are you a Void Dao cultivator?" Instead of answering his question, she asked, her voice melodic yet tinged with intrigue.
Liang's lips curved into a half-smile, his gaze reflecting the depths of his thoughts. Instead of answering her question directly, he replied coldly, "I see no reason to disclose such information to a stranger."
A mysterious smile played on her lips as she responded, her words filled with enigmatic wisdom. "The energies you wielded during our battle, resonated with the essence of the Void, It's not hard for another void dao cultivator to sense it."
Liang's eyes narrowed slightly upon hearing this, but he remained silent.
Yun Wei, undeterred by his silence, continued to gaze at him, her eyes filled with a sense of knowing. Soon, a mysterious smile played on the corner of her lips. "Apologies, fellow Daoist, for being remiss in my manners. I am Yun Wei a void dao cultivator," she said, her voice melodic yet tinged with intrigue.
"You have a discerning eye, fellow Daoist," Liang finally replied, his voice carefully measured, breaking the prolonged silence. "Indeed, I am a Void Dao cultivator."
Yun Wei let out a soft chuckle, her eyes sparkling with a knowing light. "Fellow Daoist is very cautious. Don't tell me you are afraid of a little girl like me. I already know that you cultivate the Void Dao," she teased, her voice laced with playful confidence.
Liang's eyes flashed with amusement. This woman was indeed interesting. Yet, he was almost certain that she hadn't come here for a mere casual chat. It seemed highly likely that she sought another Void Dao cultivator for some important reason, one that required their collaboration. Playing along wouldn't hurt, especially since encountering another practitioner of the Void Dao was a rare occurrence.
"My name is Daoist Kai," he replied with a slight smile.
Yun Wei covered her mouth with her hand and let out another soft chuckle, her eyes dancing with mirth. "Ah, Fellow Daoist Kai, that's a rather neat name. But surely, your real name cannot signify 'void'. If you intend to use an alias, I would advise you to choose something more convincing," she remarked, her tone playfully mocking.
Liang's smile widened. "You are perceptive indeed, Fellow Daoist Yun. However, I assure you, 'Kai' carries a deeper meaning behind it," he replied, cryptically hinting at the significance without revealing his true name.
Yun Wei's laughter filled the air, her eyes shining with intrigue. "Ah, I see! An enigma wrapped within a mystery, it seems," she exclaimed, her voice brimming with curiosity. "Well, then, Daoist Kai, let's get to business now,"
Liang thought to himself. Here it's coming. Could it be a secret realm? Perhaps an ancient cultivator's tomb,? Or Maybe unlocking a powerful seal?
"Tell Fellow Daoist Kai, what are your plans after breaking through the Void Transformation Realm ?" Yun Wei said seriously
Liang's line of thought was abruptly interrupted upon hearing Yun Wei's question. He furrowed his brows, puzzled as to why she would ask such an obvious question.
"Ascension! Isn't that the aim of every cultivator?" he responded, suspicion lacing his words.
A flash of surprise flickered in Yun Wei's eyes before she couldn't help but let out a chuckle, her lips curving into a rosy smile. She gazed at Liang, noticing his serious expression, a hint of realization flashed through her eyes.
"I see, so Fellow Daoist has just broken through," She remarked, her voice filled with a newfound understanding.
Now it was Liang's turn to be surprised, but he nodded nonetheless, intrigued by Yun Wei's remark.
"Ah, so you don't know?" she said, her voice filled with a mixture of surprise and mischief.
Liang raised an eyebrow, curiosity getting the better of him. "Know what?"
"You really don't know !"
"No, I don't "
Yun Wei waved her hand dismissively as if sighing at Liang's lack of knowledge. She appeared as if she were about to enlighten an illiterate child. "Then, this young miss will do you a favor, fellow Daoist."
Liang's expression darkened upon seeing this, his desire to curse and lament his luck for meeting such an eccentric woman growing stronger. However, he held his tongue, curious to see what Yun Wei had to say.
With a graceful leap, she jumped into the air, swiftly reaching a nearby boulder. Perched atop it, she turned to face Liang. "Fellow Daoist, tell me, how many ways of Ascension do you know about?"
Liang maintained his composure, answering unhurriedly, "There's one way I know of, which is breaking through the barrier of this world by forging connections with the heaven and earth of the lower domain. Then, embarking on an arduous journey through the infinite void, eventually reaching the upper domain."
"Pretty basic," she commented, a hint of disdain in her voice.
As if he had been expecting such a reply, Liang Yifei smiled, a glimmer of curiosity shining in his eyes. "Then, I hope Fellow Daoist Yun could enlighten me."
Yun Wei's laughter reverberated through the air, her eyes gleaming with amusement. "You know what, you're actually right. There's only one path to ascend to the upper domain..." She paused, her voice trailing off, "But nowadays, Ascension is a whole different game compared to ancient times."
Curiosity sparked in Liang's eyes. "Different in what way?"
Yun Wei's expression turned solemn as she explained, "When Ascenders from the lower domain reach the upper domain, they have to undergo a process called 'law cleansing'."
"L-law cleansing?" Liang stammered, clearly perplexed.
"Yes," Yun Wei nodded. "It involves purging all the dao tracks embedded in one's soul and body. You see, the laws in the upper domain have undergone a drastic change. People there are now cultivating a different path from the Dao known as the Origin path."
Liang burst into laughter, finding the notion absurd. It seemed like the funniest joke he had ever heard. After a moment, he managed to compose himself and quipped, "Fellow Daoist Yun, you really know how to spin a hilarious tale."
Contrary to Liang's disbelieving expression, Yun Wei maintained a serious demeanor. Shaking her head, she replied, "I wish it were a joke, but everything I've told you is true."
Standing up, she continued, "Typical cultivators usually discover this phenomenon after breaking through to the Void Transformation Realm. However, both you and I are able to sense it upon achieving the Dao integration. How about you give it a try, Fellow Daoist Kai?"
What do you think?
