Chapter 110: The Rise of Ravens peak
As soon as the announcement was sent out, all the fog monsters regrouped and ruthlessly attacked the waning moon beasts with a new found furiousity that could only be described as brutal.
They ravaged them tearing them limb from limb and assimilating them. It was a truly unsettling scene.
However, Guilliman didn't have the time to care about this. Signalling to Morgan, the rest of the cohort were one by one pulled out from the fog and brought to the wall.
Without fail, each and everyone of them was seriously beaten. Not to the point of losing of course, but enough for anyone to worry.
After all the four slayers had just been pulled from a battle against a group of 27 Wannimg moon beasts.
Dispite how they all looked though none could compare to the leader of the cohort.
Victoria
There wasn't a lot of wounds on her body because of her healing factor, but she smelled like cooked meat her skin ever tender and releasing smoke. However this wasn't the worst part.
She was paralyzed from the neck down!!
"Hahaha, I killed the bastard" she laughed hysterically, her aspects weakeness was glaring, but what she had done to get this end of stick was truly phenomenal. The paralysis would wear off eventually, but there was no cool down for the head of the wicked canine beast.
Later, troops of slayers started entering the keep from all directions indicating an end to the seige of ravenskeep shelter.
.
.
.
Weeks later
"Hm, sunny" a young man clad in steel amour with a rough cloth bag the likeness of those used to gather meat walked through the streets of ravenskeep.
This shelter that had stood tall centuries ago was now a shell of its former self. It's stone buildings were old and falling apart, it's brick roads had cracks in them and for the most parts it looked like a ghost town.
About three weeks ago an army slayers conquered this city that had stood for centuries and were now making it their own.
"Hmm, Valors" reaching the walls of the city, the young man panned his head away and peered at the shelters main gates.
As the city fell, the slayer alliance also fell with each one of the three clans claiming lordship over the shelter.
They even had a free for all at one point and in that free for all, the valors leader Logan Valor showed incredible strength and authority confirming the rumors that he had indeed transended the constraints of Yellow.
Yes he was now capped at red.
With that power he was able push the other three clans away from the main gate from which he now controlled the logistics of what entered and left the city.
In other words he was now the defacto leader of the shelter, or so he thought himself to be.
"Hello ladies, can I pass through?" Guilliman appeared before the valor guards and asked a coy look on his face.
"Who the fuck are you calling a lady??!!" One of the two guards raised his spear and pointed it directly at Guilliman a vexed look on his face.
They were the valor troops, the one and only rulers of this very here shelter. If he couldn't show them respect they would beat it into him by force.
"Ahh, sorry, long blonde hair for a guy is new to me" raising his hands in surrender Guilliman smirked slyly, he once thought the other two clans were arrogant and self centered.
They saw themselves as above everyone and everything. But he didn't know what he was talking about then. It wasn't until living under the valors that he truly understood what tyranny and arrogance was.
They were aloof rage monsters that enjoyed picking on the weak and making them summit. They would crowd and kill anyone that stood before their objective, The worse part of it was that each any everyone of them was strong.
Valor was a clan of frontal assault specialists, it was hard to come across one that was weak.
"Stop, there's no need" tapping the valor youth whose spear was already pointed at Guilliman, a slightly older guard put a pause to the entire thing.
"What do you mean? He's looking down on us!" The younger guard looked back with furiousity and anger. He didn't want anyone to look down on him, this was their shelter.
"Bion, it's not worth it. I've been down this path he's just too troublesome to get….plus he's at level 8. You know what sir Logan said about fighting level 8 slayers" the older guard shook his head and explained.
The three clans were power crazy, but would only go the extra step of killing each other, if the benefits suited the lose. If they started fighting Guilliman here and now he could probably take a few lives with him and that was just that. A loss.
"Him?" The guard looked at Guilliman from head to
Toe not believing what he had just heard.
Guilliman had on cheap looking amour with cracks all over it and his chainmail seemed to be broken in several intercetions. How could such a person with no aura of dignity be at level 8.
"Yes him, just let him pass. I don't have the strength to chase down this guy today" the older one pulled him back and stretched his hand forward with an open palm.
"Hehe, you still want me to pay? Leon aren't we close enough to forgo this irrelevant step?" Guilliman asked jokenly.
Yes, the infamous gate fee. It was instated the day after the valors took the main gate. One could pay with an echo or its weight in gold.
One might wonder why gold? They were in a place where it didn't matter. What? Were they going to pay monsters not to eat them? Well the matter was a bit complicated.
"Three ravens gold, here you go" Guilliman smiled and reached out giving the man infront three pieces of gold.
"Let him through" after receiving the gold, the guard gave way and allowed Guilliman to pass through. Dispite his seconds pissed expression he let him go.
And that was for one reason, he couldn't handle Guilliman. At least not in a fair fight.
Soon Guillimans figure descended into the fog slowly but surely he was soon engulfed in smoke and dust.
"Level 8, yeah right" Guilliman laughed sheepishly.
He wasn't at level 8 unfortunately, he was still stuck at level 7 hence him coming out ever so often to hunt beasts. They were mistaken because in all honesty they were just weak.
Too weak to fight guilliman in the same level.
"Hmm, Fog beasts" pausing abruptly, Guilliman held his breath for a few seconds watching as a troop of fog beasts rushing past him in a split second.
The Fog
After the even three weeks ago, it had not only become stronger by consuming all the wanning beasts that invaded it.
It had also resumed its life long duty of exterminating everything that moved and had the bloodline of the great abominations that seiged the shelter.
It was like it had regained some level of sentience.
'I wouldn't want to be a wanning moon beast at this moment' Guilliman thought in his mind
The sheer number of fog beasts that just ran past him was enough to completely consuming and kill any beast below mythic.
That was just one, the thought of how many such swarms the fog had at its desposal was mind numbing.
Anyway, that didn't really concern him. The fog after being activated no longer targeted slayers.
They were essentially on the same side, unless one side provoked the other.
Guilliman looked around and continued his descent moving through the fog until he arrived on the other side, then without hesitation he sent out several swordfish beast souls out to scout while he himself climbed atop the back of ghost.
He was going hunting.
"Slash"
"Slash"
"Slash"
Like a ghost he moved through the forest taking the lives of a myriad of beasts adding to his gene points.
This was the main goal of coming to ravens peak in the first place, they wanted to increase their strength in wait for the Blacksteels so they could better handle what was to come.
They just didn't expect the place to be such a terrible experience that would claim so many lives. However, they also knew that this was only the beginning.
The Blacksteels were still no where to be found and in turn, so was the hallowed beast.
"Hmm!!" Atop a particular hill, Guilliman jumped down from ghosts back as he crouched down and grabbed a hand full of soil.
"Hmmm, smells like him" he sniffed the soil connecting his senses to ghost enabling him to detect what he was looking for.
At this stage, he could no longer just attack and kill anything in his way. There were specific beasts that could contribute significantly to his growth, the other option was to go around indiscriminately killing everything in sight.
That was not effective nor easy.
But this….maybe
What do you think?
