Chapter 84 Sharp sword

Just as they arrived at a corner, they saw Victoria's silhouette land right beside them, a look of frustration painted all over it.

"Hm? You're finally here," as soon as she noticed them, she turned to the side and sighed; a look of relief consumed her.

"Hey, weren't you the one who said we should take a break?" Guilliman said with a hint of mockery. According to the 'plan,' they were not supposed to be here.

"Well, things changed… glad to see you take the initiative," Victoria said rather shamelessly; truth was… she had underestimated that mythic beast, even though the only people who could damage it were herself and Cyrus.

The rest were virtually being used as meat shields.

"Ohh, is that the boy?" Removing herself from the awkward conversation, she turned to Morgan and smiled, an idea forming in her mind.

"Oh, yeah, that's him," Guilliman nodded. He had told Victoria about the kid's strange aspect, so she had taken a bit of an interest.

The ability to form seamless threads and use them with absolute control. It seemed ordinary from the outside, but it fit very well with siege tactics.

The three of them dismounted from Ghost, and Victoria pulled Morgan by his wrist, taking him to Hamdel.

"Use your thread ability, you'll be acting as a controller in this fight; anyone that needs healing, you pull them back; if they're in a dangerous position, you pull them out—you're essentially taking command of this siege," Victoria explained the role she wanted Morgan to play.

His ability was actually extremely useful; she wondered why Cyrus's head was not utilizing it like this.

"Uhhh, okay," not really knowing what to say, Morgan agreed. He then turned to Hamdel and nodded before summoning a bunch of threads and attaching them to those around.

"Are you ready, big guy?" Victoria turned to Barthold, who was currently being healed by Hamdel, and asked.

"Born ready, princess," he said, standing up and brandishing a shield made out of scales.

"So edgy," Guilliman commented, then turned to the beast with a smile on his face.

In front of him was a bulky stalk of a green plant monster; it had girthy tentacle vines that spread out to attack all who came close. It looked dreadful.

Ahhhh

Barthold roared, rushing forward with his shield in front, barreling toward the mythic beast. Upon reaching a particular distance, the shield in his hand expanded 4 times its normal size….

‑boom!!!

In the next second, they clashed, causing a terrifying explosion that resounded through the air.

"Fuck!!" Cyrus used the opportunity to rush back several steps and catch his breath.

Just now, he had to act as a tank for Barthold to recover. That entailed him using his aspect at full force to force the creature into a defensive position.

Unfortunately, that wasn't sustainable.

"I don't think we can keep this going," Cyrus muttered, looking at his bleeding arm; everyone here was in one way or another injured, for what? Just 5 minutes of fighting? This was clearly way out of their league.

As he looked at the battle in front, wondering what he could do next, several ghostly apparitions appeared above the beast, each of them shaped like a sword.

Like droplets of rain, they fell one after the other, impaling the beast from above and causing it to let out a weak screech.

"The kid?" Cyrus immediately recognized those apparitions as he looked around for that silhouette.

Just behind him, Victoria and Guilliman walked side by side, approaching the beast. Guilliman looked undeterred; the monster in front of him was just that… a monster—it could only be put down.

It was an arrogant look.

As for Victoria, she looked a bit excited, then all of a sudden she glanced at him with a weird look, as if saying, "Aren't you going to join the fun?"

He was still stunned, though, not really knowing what to do; he was still contemplating whether they should retreat.

That had no bearing on both Victoria and Guilliman, though; the two flashed forward, slashing at the beast from two sides.

"They finally joined," Jemie, watching the two appear, felt relief; first was Barthold, now Victoria and Guilliman—that was their cohort's main strike force.

It smelled like good ol' times.

"Sharp Windedge," activating the effect of his Swordhorn Cleaver, Guilliman cut through several of the creature's tentacles in quick succession.

This was mythic flesh they were talking about; it was extremely tough, and even with his grand amplification it wouldn't necessarily achieve this….

But Guilliman was able to.

"Remember, fast sword attacks are the only things that work; if you use blunt force or slash without enough momentum, it won't even scratch this thing."

Guilliman could remember what Victoria had told him before they started their assault on this thing.

It had a unique trait that absorbed whatever it considered blunt force, and would actively distribute the attack, sending it to other parts of its body.

That was why Barthold was having a hard time; he was a brute force fighter, even his aspect explosions were considered blunt force to this thing.

In all honesty, the best person to finish this thing off was Cyrus; his ability was like a bane for this thing. The second best was Victoria, for some reason wherever she struck wasn't seen as blunt force for it, but her weapon wasn't a grand echo.

"Third best thing is here," Guilliman smirked, signalling for Morgan to pull him back.

All of a sudden, a tug came from behind and he was pulled away.

The effect of his sacred sword, Swordhorn Cleaver, allowed him to sharpen his sword by several folds when he gathered momentum—though not as effective as Cyrus's aspect, it was still very effective with the help of his BladeSkin Gauntlet, which amplified its power.

All he needed to do was create distance to use it, and thanks to Morgan this was much easier.

"Sharp Windedge," Guilliman said as he gathered momentum, rushing towards the beast once more with absolute vigor.
