He looked a bit sleazy, especially when he said the word “pervert”. He had just learned it from the Hong Kong and Taiwanese movie he watched earlier and it quickly became his catchphrase, not realizing that he himself has long been deemed a pervert in other people’s eyes.

Ying Jiuming coldly snorted, irritated, “Compared to making a phone call in the wee hours, is there anything more perverted than hiding in the bushes at that same ungodly hour?”

“Uh… It seems we are slightly more perverted.” The man reluctantly said, “Captain, is it really suitable for us to be hiding in the bushes in the middle of the night, putting a sack over people? If word gets out, how will we make a living?”

“Should I go ahead and arrest myself?” Ying Jiuming was sure he was going crazy, for agreeing to a bet with Huo Beijiang – a guy who holds grudges and has no sense of shame.

If he dared to drink, he should dare to do his duty.

God damn it! This isn’t doing his duty.

Under the hazy moonlight, a man with slouched shoulders walked out of the main gate across the road. Ying Jiuming signaled, “Action. Put the sack on him and beat him up good. Beat him hard.”

If he can’t vent his anger on Huo Beijiang, he had to vent on this unfortunate fellow.

“…” Captain, you are just jealous, aren’t you?

In the early morning, the small birds chirped non-stop outside the window.

Jiang Nanfei got up from the bed and groggily went to the well to wash her face and brush her teeth. The cool well water refreshed her immediately. Her parents were probably already on their way to the provincial city by this time.

She wasn’t in a hurry, deciding to plunge her head into the basin of water to wake herself up quicker.

“Are you trying to drown yourself?”

A cold voice echoed from the other side. She lifted her head abruptly, her long hair flicking water droplets everywhere, including onto Huo Beijiang standing across from her.

The man calmly wiped the water droplets from his face, his gaze unabashedly roving over her.

“What are you doing here?” Jiang Nanfei dragged him away as if she had done something wrong. She certainly couldn’t let her sister and grandmother see this, or she would never be able to clear her name, even if she jumped into the Yellow River.

Marrying itself was already problematic enough for her, but now this man appeared early in the morning. What if her grandmother thought he had come last night?

Huo Beijiang let her drag him, following her into the small grove behind the village.

“Are you taking me to the small grove?” The man’s eyes sparkled provocatively, he subtly pinched her hand.

Unfortunately, Jiang Nanfei was too nervous to notice. By the time she’d dragged him to the grove and pushed him away, it was too late.@@novelbin@@

Behind Huo Beijiang was a tall poplar tree. He leaned against the tree trunk effortlessly, pushing back with the force she had pushed him. And there she was, standing in front of him with a flushed face, glaring at him.

Their bodies were so close they were almost touching.

Huo Beijiang didn’t move, leaning against the tree, looking down at her with a faint smile in his eyes. He chuckled…does the little girl realize their position is quite suggestive?

He could easily lift her chin with one hand and capture her lips with his.

Although it was just an unintended thought, he found he could not tear his eyes away from her lips. The little girl had such beautiful lips, a perfect diamond shape, delicate like a piece of art.

It made sense that she, being so beautiful and young, wouldn’t want to marry him. As he considered this, he felt the discomfort that had been choking him ever since he realized her true feelings slowly start to ease.
