Huo Beijiang smiled bitterly. Was this what he deserved for his actions? From a young age, he had been domineering and authoritarian, always expecting others to accommodate him. Yet now, because of a young girl, he was forced to swallow his pride.

This was completely against his usual style.

“What are you looking at?” Jiang Nanfei felt uncomfortable under his gaze. Realizing their posture wasn’t quite right, she quickly stepped back, only for him to grab her wrist and pull her forward, pulling her directly into his embrace.

“Thump… thump…” The rapid beating of her heart caused her slight pain.

“Let go of me.”

“Easy now! Stop squabbling,” Huo Beijiang said, as if pacifying a child. “I came to talk to you about something important.”

...

“Then say it after letting go.”

Being rejected again! The burning intensity in Huo Beijiang’s eyes scared her. In his heart, he decided to give in to her for now but vowed that one day, the little girl would completely and irrevocably fall in love with him, follow him and never leave him.

Once her hand was freed, Jiang Nanfei took three steps back like a mouse retreating from a cat. She finally looked up at him, only to find him not looking at her, leaving her to gaze at his chin.

“What are you here for?”

Huo Beijiang initially intended to explain to her about the night before when he got drunk and had to be sent home by her, which was utterly humiliating for him. But he found it hard to say when he looked at her.@@novelbin@@

Surely, the girl mustn’t know his thoughts. Others could easily see them at a glance, right?

He took out a cigarette lighter from his pocket and lit a cigarette skillfully. “Let’s talk about our marriage.”

On hearing his words, Jiang Nanfei felt a sense of relief. She had memories of two lifetimes, although she didn’t understand his preferences, she knew him for over a decade. As far as she was concerned to Huo Beijiang, she was a total stranger.

It was natural for him to have something to say since they, as strangers, were about to get married.

“Go ahead,” she braced herself to listen, encouraging herself that this man was worth entrusting her life to. She wouldn’t find a better man even if she tried.

As for his beast-like side, well… They could agree on a few terms. They could get familiar after the marriage and when she was used to him, she could give herself, both mind and body, to him.

Seeing her suddenly pale face, Huo Beijiang fiercely drew a breath from his cigarette, his handsome face blur in the swirling smoke.

“I want you to speak, not me.”

“Don’t you have anything to say? I’m just a stranger to you.”

“Heh…” He scoffed, his laugh deep and powerful, and his voice was full of casual arrogance. “We’re not strangers anymore.”

Jiang Nanfei didn’t catch what he said, “What did you say?”

“Nothing, just say whatever you want to say. I’m a man, I don’t like forcing women. If it’s not too outrageous, maybe I’ll agree.”

Seize this rare moment of him being kindly and unprejudiced to voice your true thoughts!

“Alright!” No longer hesitating, Jiang Nanfei said, “After we get married, we need to establish some ground rules. You can’t touch me without my consent.”

“Huh!” Huo Beijiang scoffed coldly.

Jiang Nanfei felt as if his gaze weighed a thousand pounds, making it hard for her to even lift her head. The deep-seated rejection she felt from her past life surged up from within her, making her body shake slightly and her eyes fill with unshed tears. She felt somewhat aggrieved.
