Chapter 165 Ragnar's Furious Realization
Ragnar had just returned to Volcaria Estate. He was now making his way toward the main hall, but he was surprised to find it empty.
He then paused and thought for a moment. "Where could they be, huh?"
He suddenly remembered something. Without wasting time, Ragnar headed toward a specific section of the wall.
He retrieved his plaque from his spatial ring and pressed it against a concealed panel. A hidden passageway suddenly opened up.
Ragnar smirked and immediately stepped inside the hallway and went toward the secret room.
The moment he entered the room, he saw that Savra was sitting across from Lucius. His maids were standing behind him.
They also appeared to be in the middle of a discussion, but the moment Ragnar entered, all eyes turned toward him.
Ragnar smirked and stepped further into the room. "I see... so you're all down here."
He turned to Lucius and smirked. "It seems that you are safe from spying there. And your maids are too."
Lucius returned the smirk and crossed his arms. "Yeah, we're fine. It wasn't really that hard. We were invisible the whole time."
Ragnar chuckled softly. "I see. Smart move."
Savra leaned forward slightly and looked at Ragnar. "What happened at the meeting?"
Ragnar's smirk widened as he began to sit down and fold his arms. "Oh, it was a show, I tell you. Let me tell you what happened in there."
Ragnar then began to tell them first what happened in the meeting before discussing it with them.

Savra leaned forward and rested her elbows on the table as she smirked. "I really wonder what kind of face Karion made when you pushed him that far."
Ragnar chuckled and crossed his arms. "Oh, it was priceless. He was so angry that he wanted to strangle me right there. Too bad Anselm stopped him or things might've gotten even more interesting."
Lucius also let out a short laugh. "So, Karion's the father of Kaelix and Kaldrik, huh? Figures. I can only imagine his face when you kept mocking him. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Those two were just as easy to rile up."
Ragnar grinned and pointed a finger at Lucius. "Exactly. That family's temper is their biggest weakness. You'll see more of it soon enough. They can't help themselves when they're cornered."
Luna and Liora stood silently behind Lucius. They exchanged brief glances as they listened but said nothing.
Luna crossed her arms, while Liora casually leaned on one leg. Both of them were fully aware of how tense things had been when dealing with the Kryndals before.
Lucius tilted his head. "Still, getting them to sign that contract was a smart move. You've got them locked in. After the battle, they'll have no choice but to pay whatever price you name." Explore new worlds at My Virtual Library Empire
Ragnar puffed out his chest slightly. "Of course. I'm not about to let them walk away without paying up. I found their base for them. They owe me, and they know it."
Savra tapped her fingers lightly on the table as she listened. "We've got them exactly where we want them. They're tied to us, and we hold all the leverage."
Lucius nodded, but he had some other thoughts. He leaned back slightly and folded his arms across his chest. "Sure, it's a clever move. But it might not be as good as you think."
Ragnar's grin faltered slightly and raised his eyebrow. "Bad choice? What do you mean by that?"
Savra also nodded. She glanced at Lucius. "Isn't it good that we got them to sign the contract? With that clause, they're bound to give you whatever you want once this is over."
Lucius nodded and turned serious. "It's good if you made other families sign it, but the real issue here is with the minister."
He pointed his finger at Ragnar. "You made Anselm sign it, and whether that contract is valid or not depends entirely on the empire."
Ragnar frowned slightly and folded his arms again. "What's your point, Lucius?"
Lucius gestured slightly with one hand and leaned forward. "Think about it. This is their empire. If they decide not to fulfill the terms of the contract after we've destroyed the mysterious organization, what can we do?"
Lucius leaned back and casually told them. "They could easily claim it's invalid or find some excuse to avoid paying up."
Savra tapped her fingers on the table again. She frowned as she heard what Lucius said. "You're saying that even with the contract in place, we might not get anything in the end?"
Lucius slammed the table slightly. "Exactly. It was a smart move to trap them for now, but it's risky."
Lucius leaned back again. "Once the job is done, nothing's stopping them from backing out. Especially if they think they can get away with it."@@novelbin@@
Ragnar's smirk faded as he considered Lucius's point. He clenched his fist lightly. "So you're saying they might screw us over once the threat's gone?"
Lucius nodded. "That's the risk. They might smile and cooperate now because they need us, but once they don't..."
Lucius smirked as he let them think about the next words. He then leaned forward and put his hand on his chin. "That's why I said it's both a good and a bad choice."
Ragnar clenched his fists as he suddenly realized something. "No wonder they agreed so easily and signed it. They never intended to fulfill it in the first place."
Ragnar then slammed his fist on the table in anger. "Damn it! How dare they?"
Savra glanced at Ragnar. She also didn't know what to do now. The information was already with them. Luna and Liora exchanged brief glances and remained silent as they observed the scene.
Before Ragnar's anger could escalate further, Lucius smirked. "Relax. I already have a plan."
Both Ragnar and Savra turned to him. They were surprised by his confidence. "What do you mean by a plan? You already know how to handle this situation?"
Ragnar, who was still fuming, added. "You're telling me you've thought of something while we've been sitting here?"
Lucius chuckled and smirked. "Of course. You didn't think I'd come back from a mission like this without a backup plan, did you?"
Savra crossed her arms. She was curious about it. "Alright then. Let's hear it."
Lucius smirked and glanced at both of them. "Let me tell you exactly how we're going to deal with them."
What do you think?
