Billionaire's Contracted & Unloved Wife

Chapter 227 227

Aiden sat along a passage in a hospital, his head lowered between his knees. It's been two hours and none of them have opened their eyes, yet Carla kept telling him to have hope...what hope?

If anything ever happened to his family, he would go to Emily and kill him by himself.

Carla had confirmed that Ariel's and Jace's heartbeats were very weak, almost not there, but she had premises to stabilize them; however, it's been two hour long hours, and they were still very weak and not responding.

"Hi, Aiden," Jess walked up to him and lowered himself in front of him.

Aiden raised his head and stared at Jess, not saying a word.

"Aiden... she's going to be okay, Jace too, and even the twins. Your family is going to be right back into your arms before you know it, alright?" She gently leaned in and hugged him.

Aiden hugged her back, he needed that support. He felt alone at that moment if something happened to Ariel or Jace, his world would be incomplete forever, and he'd lose all his reasons to live.

"What the hell am I hearing, Aiden Chaz?" Grandma Nari suddenly walked toward them, Ken beside her.

Jess looked up at her with a frown, "Grandma, can you not? You don't have to make it worse," She said.

Grandma Nari ignored Jess and fixed her eyes on Aiden, "Aiden, I'm disappointed in you, were you never planning to let me know about my grandchildren?" She asked.

Aiden sighed, not responding.

"Grandma, maybe you should just head in and see how Ariel and Jace are doing," Ken suggested; he took the woman's hand and led him toward the door.

Jess stared at him. It's been a week since they agreed on their pleasure, but Ken had not come to her after the day he left her house. She had thought that Ken would be at her doorstep every hour of the day begging for her attention, but surprisingly, there was only radio silence from his end.

"I'm going in," Aiden said and stood from the floor, walking inside the room.

He saw Grandma Nari sitting beside Ariel's bed, holding her hand, but her eyes were on Jace, who was lying on the bed next to Ariel's.

"Did you lock her up, Aiden?" She asked in a calm voice, but everyone knew that she was mad, she was just keeping calm because of her environment.

"I did," He replied.

"Does your father know?" Grandma Nari questioned again.

"He does, he's currently at the station -"

"What? Why?" Grandma Nari looked vexed.

"Why did he go to see her? Does he feel sorry for that witch? Don't tell me that -"

"Grandma..." Aiden sighed tiredly.

"Can you not? Right now? He didn't go there because he pitied her, he went to give a statement he should have given years ago and have her locked forever. Don't worry, she's not seeing the clouds again," He replied.

"Good..." Grandma Nari stared at Ariel's tummy, "What about -"

"Grandma...no," Jess quickly interrupted, she knew the old woman was only concerned, but what she was about to ask was an insensitive question. It would Aiden hurt more.

"Knock, knock, hello, fam, looks like we're all gathered here," Carla peeked inside the room, a smile on her face.

Aiden looked at her with no life in his eyes, "What's next, Carla, are they just going to remain like this forever?" He asked, his eyes were red but no year came out of it.

Carla cleared her throat, "Um, well, how about we start by giving Ariel and Jace some space? They need all the quiet they can get. Please, I'm asking as a friend, not as a rude doctor," She smiled at everyone, she just happened to be the only one smiling.

Grandma Nari gently touched Ariel's tummy before she stood from the bed. She kissed Jace's cheek and walked out of the door, dragging Carla with her.

"We should leave, too," Jess said and slowly walked out of the room.

Ken met Aiden and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Come on, man, they're eventually going to be alright, trust me, Ariel and Jace are fighters, if they survived Moon's episode, then this means nothing to them, they'll be up before you know it," He tapped Aiden's shoulder and subtly led him out of the room, closing the door.

"I'll go with them," Aiden said and followed Grandma Nari, who was dragging Carla up to her office.

"Okay, I'll wait right here," Ken said and lowered himself on the bench in front of Ariel's room.

Jess was standing beside the bench; she saw Ken sit down and slowly shift toward it, lowering herself on it.

She stared at the distance between them and thought of shifting and going to him but she decided against it.

They sat there for a while without saying a word. A lot of things were eating her up from the inside but she knew that this wasn't the best place to talk about it.

"Hi," Jess said in a soft voice.

Ken turned his face to her and stared at her face, "Hi, Jess," He replied and removed his face from her.

Jess frowned, and she instantly became troubled; this was the first time Ken was calling her like every other person: Jess.

She didn't like it, what happened to his sensual 'Jessica?'

She shifted a little closer, "Kenneth," She called quietly.

Ken turned again, "Yes?" He answered calmly.

"Is everything alright?" Jess asked.

Ken shook his head, "Not at the moment; everyone's worried about Ariel and her little boy," he replied, giving her a little smile.

Jess nodded, "Yes, I am too, and I do hope they recover real fast. However, I was asking about you... is everything alright with you?" She moved closer again, his thigh almost touching hers.

Ken didn't move; he remained on his spot, watching Jess from the side of his eye; he wanted to know what she wanted to do. He knew he'd been quiet for a long time, but he did have his reasons, which he would let her know soon.

"With me? Everything is fine, Jess. Thanks for caring," He nodded at her.

Jess gently scratched her thigh with her fingers; she was feeling frustrated; did Ken really not know how he was acting?

Why did he agree to the no-strings-attached if he knew he was going to distance himself after that day? And then he goes around calling her Jess just like everyone else.

"Really?" She frowned.

Ken nodded again, "Really."

"You-"

"Hey, guys, where's Ariel?" Viktor suddenly appeared from the stairs and stood in front of them.

Jess sighed, looking away from him.

"She's right in there, but Carla said no one is allowed in there for now until she says otherwise.

"How are they, though?" Viktor asked with a concerned frown.

Ken shrugged, "I can't really say, they're...unconscious," He informed.

Viktor sighed, "Damn," He muttered.

He moved to the opposite bench and lowered himself on it.

Everyone was quiet, wondering if this was really how Auden and Ariel's story was going to end. They hoped not; the two have been through a lot, and they deserved all the happiness they could find.

Aiden would lose himself if anything dared to happen to his family; he might even kill himself.

Jess was still gambling Aiden's and Ken's thoughts in her mind when she saw the familiar figure walking up the stairs.

"What the fuck, Viktkor, why did you bring her here? To pull out their lifeline?" Jess stood, glaring at Moon.

"Huh? What do you... Moon?" He frowned as he saw her walk up to them.

"Hi, guys," Moon greeted.

Jess scoffed, "How about you turn around and leave?" She pointed her finger down the stairs.

"How did you get here, Moon?" Viktor questioned.

"I knew you could never bring a witch to see Ariel, she must have thought that everyone had left so that she could come and finish the work she had failed so miserably to do in the past years," Jess walked at Moon.

"I just want to visit Ariel, just like the rest of you... I'm not here to cause trouble, I promise," Moon explained.

"Yeah, like anyone's gonna believe a word you spew, Get the fuck -"

"Jessica..." Ken held Jess' hand, gently dragging her away from Moon.

"Let her be; even if we don't believe her, at least we're here; she wouldn't try anything stupid," He pulled her down beside him, still holding her hand in his.

Jess felt her heart accelerate the moment she felt Ken's hand on hers, she turned speechless as he made her sit very close to him.

What was his deal?

"You guys are cute together," Moon smiled at Jess before walking over to sit beside Viktor.

Viktor was staring at Moon in shock. She had been sleeping when he left the house, how did she get here so quickly?

"Before you ask, no, I wasn't sleeping; I knew you wouldn't let me follow you; I had to figure out a plan," Moon explained.

Viktor frowned, "So you tricked me -"

"Shh! Jace is up," Moon announced and ran inside the room.
