Bio-engineered Dinosaur in the immortal world

Chapter 39: Parting ways

Soon a strange silence filled the atmosphere.

Wei Long focused inwardly, summoning the Bio-Engineering System.

It had been a long time now since he had tried, but every attempt before had ended in failure.

This time—

A cold, mechanical light flashed.

The System had finally responded.

A wave of data streamed before his eyes.

His gaze locked onto the tamed humans under his control—

Xi Na. Zou Fang.

But it wasn't them that caught his interest.

It was the beast listed under Xi Na's name.

──Tamed Beast of Xi Na:──

1. Rostaragorn – Class: Pseudo Unique

Abilities: Unknown. The host must see it in his own eyes to analyze.

Wei Long's pupils shrank.

His mind whirled.

The Bio-Enhancement didn't just strengthen Glock'Nine—it changed him.

Not only had it altered his classification, but it had also modified his abilities!

This was big.

Wei Long's interest burned.

His mind spun with possibilities.

"Interesting. Very interesting."

A devious idea took root.

If this was true, then what if…

What if he could apply this enhancement to others?

What if he could control their evolution?

What if he could… shape them into something far beyond their original forms?

His lips curled.

This changes everything.

Immediately, Wei Long turned to Glock'Nine and spoke casually—

"You know what to do."

Glock'Nine's eyes widened.

Then, his expression twisted into one of deep, painful sadness.

His beak trembled.

He turned to his hens—his beloved wives, his darling treasures, his most precious companions!

Then, he screamed.

"MY LOVES! MY SWEET, BEAUTIFUL HENS! THE TIME HAS COME! THE CURTAIN CLOSES ON OUR CHAPTER TOGETHER!"

The hens froze.

Their ugly, wrinkled faces twisted in confusion.

One particularly hideous hen, with a massive wart growing on her left eye, let out a shrill cry—

"HUH?!"

Glock'Nine's wings spread dramatically.

"DO NOT ASK QUESTIONS! FOR I MUST LEAVE!"

The hens burst into chaos.

"NOOO!"

"WHY? WHY MUST YOU GO?"

"YOU PROMISED TO ROOST WITH US FOREVER!"

Glock'Nine clutched his chest, his beady eyes glistening.

He took several deep breaths, dramatically puffing his massive chest.

Then, he pointed his wing to the sky!

"FOR I HAVE BEEN CHOSEN!"

Silence.

A particularly fat hen waddled forward.

Her face sagged with disbelief.

"Chosen? By who?"

Glock'Nine turned toward Wei Long, his feathers glowing with reverence.

"BY THE ONE WHO HAS REBIRTHED ME! THE ONE WHO HAS TAKEN ME FROM A SIMPLE DRAGOROOSTER TO THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS!"

He clawed at the ground, his wings shaking with energy.

"IT PAINS ME TO LEAVE! BUT I MUST! FOR MY JOURNEY DOES NOT END HERE!"

The hens wailed.

One particularly bald hen sobbed—

"BUT WHAT ABOUT OUR FUTURE CHICKS?"

Glock'Nine froze.

His chest heaved.

Then—

"AHAHAHAHAHAHA! FOOLISH! OUR LOVE TRANSCENDS SPACE AND TIME! THE CHICKS I HAVE BLESSED YOU WITH WILL GROW STRONG IN MY ABSENCE! AND WHEN I RETURN, THEY SHALL KNOW THEIR FATHER WAS A LEGEND!"

"BUT—"

Glock'Nine cut her off with a scream.

"ENOUGH! DO NOT MAKE THIS HARDER THAN IT ALREADY IS!"

Then, he stepped forward, looking at each hideous hen, his beak quivering.

One by one, he said goodbye.

To each. And every. Hen.

"MY SEVENTH WIFE, YOU WERE ALWAYS THE MOST VULGAR, BUT YOUR COURAGE INSPIRED ME!"

"MY THIRTEENTH WIFE, YOUR LEFT WING WAS BROKEN, BUT YOU NEVER LET IT STOP YOU FROM PECKING OUR CHILDREN INTO SHAPE!"

"MY FORTY-FIRST WIFE, YOUR BREATH WAS SO ROTTEN IT COULD KILL AN INNOCENT ROOSTER, BUT I LOVED YOU FOR IT!"

And on, and on, and on…

Each hen got their farewell.

Each hen cried and clung to him.

But Glock'Nine held firm.

At last, only one remained.

His first wife.

A truly horrifying hen, with lopsided eyes and a missing beak tip.

She looked at him silently.

He looked at her.

And then, in a whisper, he said—

"I'll be back."

She nodded.

Then, without another word—

The hens turned and left.

One by one, they disappeared into the distance.

Glock'Nine watched them go, standing tall, stoic.

Then, suddenly, he burst into tears.

"WAAAAAAAAAH! I MISS THEM ALREADY!"

Red'Ribbon let out a tired sigh.

"You're unbelievable."

Wei Long simply turned away.

"Let's go and part ways."

Wei Long and Red'Ribbon had long since left Xi Na and Glock'Nine behind.

The terrain around them was vast and shadowed, the underbrush swaying gently in the cold wind. Yet, instead of pressing forward, Wei Long came to a halt.

His golden reptilian eyes were locked on a distant point.

He was watching.

Red'Ribbon, standing beside him, frowned.

"Why are we stopping?"

Wei Long didn't answer immediately.

His tail twitched.

His gaze was sharp, unblinking.

Red'Ribbon followed his eyes and realized—they were still watching Glock'Nine and Xi Na.

In the distance, Glock'Nine was wailing like a broken rooster.

His cries pierced the sky like a thousand dying chickens being strangled at once.

Xi Na stood behind him, silent and stiff.

Her face was rigid, as if she had no idea what to do with this ridiculous situation.

Red'Ribbon let out a tired huff.

"Why are we even watching this?"

Wei Long's tail flicked.

"Just watch."

Glock'Nine's massive body trembled.

His wings clutched his chest.

His beak was wide open, releasing a nonstop, deafening, gut-wrenching wail.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

He collapsed on the ground, kicking and screaming.

"MY WIVES! MY BEAUTIFUL, PERFECT, HEAVENLY WIVES!"

He slammed his claws on the dirt.

Tears streamed down his feathery cheeks.

"HOW COULD I LEAVE THEM?! HOW CAN I LIVE WITHOUT THEM?! WHAT IF THEY FIND A NEW ROOSTER?!"

His voice echoed across the land, probably scaring off any unfortunate beasts in the area.

Xi Na stood behind him, her face twitching.

She opened her mouth… but then closed it.

What was she supposed to say?

Glock'Nine continued flailing.

"OH, MY FIFTEENTH WIFE, HER BEAK WAS SO LARGE IT COULD CHOKE A DEMONIC BEAST! HOW I MISS IT!"

"AND MY TWENTY-SECOND WIFE! HER CLAWS WERE SO CROOKED, SHE ONCE ACCIDENTALLY SLASHED ME IN MY SLEEP! IT WAS TRUE LOVE!"

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"

Red'Ribbon, watching from a distance, sighed deeply.

"That idiot…"

Wei Long remained silent, still observing.

"Let him be."

After a long, painful eternity, Glock'Nine finally ran out of tears.

He let out a deep, exhausted sigh and sat up.

Xi Na was still behind him, watching.

For the first time, Glock'Nine looked at her seriously.

"You're not going to say anything?"

Xi Na hesitated before speaking.

"…What am I supposed to say?"

Glock'Nine sniffled.

"You could at least comfort me! My heart is shattered into pieces!"

Xi Na sighed.

"You'll see them again. It's not like they're dead."

Glock'Nine paused.

He blinked.

Then, he sniffled again.

"You're right… I'll see them again…"

He stared at the ground.

Then, slowly, he let out a tired sigh.

"Haaaah… I guess I'll just have to live with this emptiness in my heart."

Xi Na was silent.

Glock'Nine looked up at her.

"Tell me, woman. What do you think of roosters?"

Xi Na was caught off guard.

"…What?"

"Roosters. Dragoroosters. What do you think of us?"

Xi Na thought for a moment.

Then, she answered honestly.

"I think you're loud. But… strong. Unpredictable. Passionate."

Glock'Nine's eyes glowed.

"Yes…! Yes! You understand!"

He grinned.

"I think you'll be an acceptable tamer, after all!"

Xi Na let out a small, tired smile.

Glock'Nine puffed out his chest.

"Now then! I must head to the Spiritual Temporal Sea of yours!"

His body shimmered, and with a final flash of red light, he disappeared.

Xi Na finally let out a deep breath.

"Finally… peace."

Just as she was about to relax—a sudden movement caught her attention.

She whipped around.

Her eyes widened.

The Beauty Deva Squad… wasn't dead.

Their leader was crushed to paste by Wei Long earlier, but the remaining four were slowly rising.

Their faces—once filled with arrogance and artificial beauty—were now twisted with hatred.

Their makeup was smeared and ruined, their expressions dark.

One of them, a particularly tall and slender man, stepped forward.

Xi Na stumbled back, eyes full of disbelief.

"I thought… I thought you were all dead!"

The man grinned, his teeth flashing like a predator.

"Dead?"

Another one sneered, wiping blood off his lips.

"Foolish woman."

The tallest one took another step forward, his eyes burning with malice.

"You will pay!"

The air grew heavy.

Xi Na's breath hitched.

She had let her guard down.
