Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest

Chapter 1449 More Totem Making

-----

When we finally caught them, all five of them were playing some video game. It seemed that instead of working to improve the domain they were more interested in playing video games!

But this too, was fine anyway. I'm glad they're relaxing and just enjoying the day doing something that isn't worrying about a battle or something.

"Oh mom…" Elena muttered. "We were… uh, well, we were playing this game- I mean we're still playing it- Ah it's my turn…"

She started moving her character while concentrating.

"Hahah! I never imagined these modern age games were so interesting now!" Kaguya said. "Back then board games were all I had, but this is so much more interactive! And all flashy and stuff. Is this some kind of magic?"

"It's just technology," I explained to her. "…I think."

"Human technology is sure amazing, they get to make stuff like this without any magic whatsoever," Katherine commented. "They're incredible! Also the snacks too!"

"Is that so?" I giggled. "Well I'm glad you're enjoying yourselves."

"Um, did you need something?" wondered Monica. "I can help in anything!"

Monica seemed the least interested in playing because she was in the last place…

Well, if she wanted to just leave then that's nice.

"Actually, we were carving totems with Mark." I said, as Mark nodded.

"Totems?" Monica asked.

"Why?" Elena asked, while still looking at the screen.

"Aren't totems those big wooden poles with animal shapes?!" Gabriel wondered.

"Y-Yeah, those," I nodded. "It was Mark's idea actually."

"Yeah I had no idea they would strengthen the domain or create new spiritual guardians," Mark said. "But it worked pretty well, it might be a good way to strengthen the domain defenses artificially instead of relying on upgrades."

"Oooh, I had no idea!" Monica said. "That's so cool. Can I help?"

She was really just not into playing the game anymore, huh?

"S-Sure!" I said. "Who else wants to help out? No pressure though, only if you really want to."

Nobody responded, it seemed they were glued into the TV…

"A-Alright then, hahah…" I sighed, as Monica walked to my side.

"I'll help," She said. "Though I am an amateur at wood carving… Could you teach me, m-mo… mom?"

"Heheh, of course," I nodded. "Well actually Mark here is the expert, we'll teach you together?"

"S-She called you mom?" Mark covered his face, almost in tears. "T-That was… so cute…"

"D-Don't point it out uncle…" Monica felt embarrassed, growing redder.

"She's cute isn't she?" I giggled.

"Yeah," Mark nodded. "So I guess we can admit you adopted her right?"

"I mean, WE adopted her, no?" I said. "Or you don't want to?"

"Well, I didn't think about it too deeply…" he said. "But sure? I don't really mind, though I doubt it'll be something Monica will accept right away…"

"I-I'm just happy how things are…" Monica muttered. "But I would love to… I-If possible, um… well, to connect more with uncle? You're mo… mom's lover and all so… Um…"

I quickly poked Mark with my elbow.

"She's too shy to say stuff sometimes, so just be nice to her and nod," I told him.

"Sure…" He nodded. "Of course Monica, don't worry! Want to learn woodcarving with us?"

"Y-Yes!" she said.

"Alright, let's go, come along!" I said.

We ended up coming back to do some more woodcarving after we realized it was still not the time for lunch. I messaged my friends though, Lily, Rita, and even Jenny.@@novelbin@@

We taught Monica how to do it, she was very shy about it, but with enchanted tools and some easy to cave wood, such as my first wood from my first form, that wasn't even a full-on tree but just the Dryad, she was able to get something done.

She went first for a platypus, it looked a big goofy, but we helped her correct some of the imperfections.

"Being detailed is important when making Totems," said Mark. "If you make it too messy, the spirit might not find it fitting."

"Oh. I-I didn't know… I'm so sorry…" Monica apologized shyly.

"It's fine, it's fine, he's not angry," I said. "Come on, let's make the rest of the heads. This totem is rather small due to the wood size. so perhaps three more animals should fit in! What else do you like?"

"Um… a cute cat? And a dog! Maybe a wolf?" She wondered.

"Alright!" I nodded.

We carved a wild cat and then a gray wolf on the wood, when it was done, we gave it a few polishes here and there, and it was done.

"Woow! M-My very own totem!" Monica said happily.

"It's quite incredible how it turned out, pretty good," Mark nodded.

"I can feel Monica's power inside of it," I said. "Just like we left our own in the other totems."

Indeed, the totems we made were infused with our essence, and the spirits that inhabited them were also affected and strengthened by them.

The one I carved, out of my highest quality white wood, was infused with angelic energy, my mana, and spirit energy, and even some hints of draconic power.

Although there aren't ancient totem spirits that represent dragons, a lizard would appear in its place and absorb this draconian power to become something similar to one.

The same would be for a bird with the phoenix and so on…

And so, Monica's totem, although small held a lot of dark and ghostly powers within them, the spirits that will inhabit them will gain forbidden, dark powers!

"And we're done!"

We placed the totem, and it connected to the rest, a dark, ghostly aura spread everywhere, as new beast totem spirits inhabited it instantly.

It seemed they were eager to enter this domain for some reason!

"Oh wow! It's already inhabited?!" Monica gasped, her shyness flying away already. "T-This is great… Can I make more?"

"Sure?" I nodded. "You can make as many as you want! We'll be planting more seeds with Mark, but we'll be around."

"O-Okay!" Monica nodded, as she started carving another wood around the same size as the previous one.

Well, she looked to be enjoying herself.
