Brothel Manager : Unexpected Encounter with A Hidden Family Heirloom

Chapter 483: Control Your Sister

Instead of taking Das to any resting tent, Leela brought him to the meeting place where a large size tent stood for hundreds of meters. More than a hundred of commanders and family men gathered under the tent for a serious discussion.

Leela's grip on Das's hand is firm as they breached the perimeter of the vast tent, its canvas walls stretching hundreds of meters in every direction.

Inside, the air buzzed with the intensity of the gathered assembly. It is an eclectic mix of the Farus family's elite, their homegrown warriors raised from childhood on tales of honor and the power of their family heirloom, alongside hardened commanders from distant lands and the shadowy figures allied for war.

At the heart of this meeting, on a raised platform, stood Princess Amara, a beacon of authoritative presence. She is flanked by her father, King Farus, and the family's most venerable members, all perched on thrones that seemed to absorb the tent's dim light, casting an otherworldly glow on their faces.

Amara's voice rose above the murmurs, commanding attention as she addressed the leaders who would command the Farus army in the coming strife. Her words, infused with the weight of impending battle, echoed inside the gathering.

However, before she could continue her speech further, Leela, with a determination that seemed to cut through the thick air of anticipation, maneuvered through the crowd, pulling Das along. There was a collective gasp as they made their way not to the edges of the gathering, but directly to the center stage, to the raised platform reserved for the royal family and their closest advisors.

Amara's speech faltered for a moment as Leela, disregarding protocol and the stunned silence, guided Das to sit among the Farus elite. The princess's eyes met Das's, controlling her frustration, she nodded her head towards Das in acknowledgment and perhaps, approval. Das also nodded his in repones.

The assembly below the stage is centre of confusion and curiosity. Murmurs rippled through the crowd like the prelude to a storm.

"Who does he think he is, seating himself among royalty without a bow to the princess?" An elder voice hissed, barely containing his disdain.

"Look at him, barely out of boyhood. What could he possibly contribute to the life and death war?" another elderly man snickered, the mockery thick in the air.

"Hmmhh… he might even die by falling under the feet of my black tiger troops. This is not place for chocolate boys and baby-faced weak ones." A sturdy young man with massive built uttered in a weak tone.

But among the disdaining people, a middle-aged man with American features is staring at Das with respect.

Yet, for all their disdain, no one dared to raise their voice beyond a cowardly whisper. Everyone sat silently without daring to question Das's presence.

Regaining her composure, Princess Amara cleared her throat, the attention once again hers to command. "Tomorrow morning, we reconvene here, as we divide our 5.5 million-strong army into its individual legions, we will name those chosen to lead. Each commander's role, each unit's purpose, will be decided here, by collective assent." she announced, her voice imbued with a renewed vigor.

The crowd absorbed her declaration, the weight of the coming day dawning on them with the gravity of her words.

As Princess Amara concluded her commanding speech, the assembled crowd began to disperse, breaking off into clusters, their voices a murmur against the rustling canvas of the tent.

Many people tried to engage Amara, hoping to glean favor or reveal their opinion, but she expertly redirected each inquiry toward her father, her eyes fixed on a particular face.

Fixing her gaze on Das who is conversing with her sister Leela, she strode purposefully toward Das. As she reached Das, her gaze momentarily pausing to address Leela, who stood loyally by his side.

"Leela, go to our mother, she is waiting for you." Amara commanded, her voice leaving no room for argument.

Leela, hesitated to leave and as she is eager to be part of the conversation. However, a sharp, unyielding glare from Amara sent her leaving away, albeit reluctantly.

Once alone with Das, Amara's expression softened momentarily before being replaced with a look of serious inquiry. She studied him for a moment before asking, "Why does my sister seem so infatuated with you, Das?"

Das met her gaze squarely, unfazed by the directness of her question. "Your Highness, it might be best to control your sister's inclinations, as for me, I am entangled with commitments to several partners already. I have no intention of mingling with your family further into my life through marital bonds." he replied evenly.

Amara was visibly taken aback by his blunt honesty. She had anticipated a plea, a declaration of undying love for Leela, anything that would mirror the frankness she knew Das for. Yet, his refusal to play into the narrative she had expected left her momentarily at a loss.

Regaining her composure, she managed to mask her surprise and irritation with a veneer of royal decorum. "I see. Well, thank you for coming." she said, her tone measured.

Das, undeterred by the undercurrent of tension, responded with a wry smile. "How could I not? I gave you my word, Princess."

Before more could be said, Amara summoned a servant with a discreet gesture.

"Make sure Mr. Das is accommodated in the VIP barracks, towards the rear of our encampment," she instructed, her voice betraying none of the turmoil that had momentarily seized her.

As Das turned to leave, Amara's gaze lingered on his retreating figure, a storm of thoughts swirling within her. His audacity, his refusal to be swayed by royal influence or the prospect of an alliance through marriage, left her both irked and, strangely, respectful of his integrity.

But there was little time to dwell on personal affronts or the complexities of heart and duty. The war, like a relentless tide, waited for no one. Its clock ticked menacingly, reminding Amara of the vast responsibilities resting on her shoulders.
