Chapter 882: Chapter 882: Meeting an Idiot
Buck Drew’s eyebrows relaxed, “Oh, I thought it was given to you by the future family head of the Russell family, my mistake.”
He was originally thinking how could Xaviera, who had already married Mr. Caleb Mamet, accept a bracelet from another man. Moreover, this was not an ordinary bracelet, but a family heirloom representing the Russell family’s identity.
“Are you talking about Julian Russell as the future family head?”
“Yes, he seems gentle on the surface, but he is resolute and decisive in his actions. The Russell family will definitely break new ground in the future under his leadership! No wonder so many aristocratic noble families want to marry their daughters to him. I heard that Sir Hughes, taking advantage of his being Julian’s grandfather, has received a lot of gifts from these families so that Julian could meet the girls.”
Xaviera frowned, “I’m sure Julian would not be happy with that.”
“That’s natural, so the Hughes family is now in an awkward position with both sides grumbling.” Suddenly, Buck paused and smiled, “By the way, guess what I am here in Libanan for?”
Xaviera looked puzzled, and she was also curious about what Buck was doing in Libanan. Glaze headquarters was in a foreign country, and he didn’t have any business in Libanan. Was he here for a vacation?
Buck smiled slightly, “I came to Libanan for your husband. I have some business I want to cooperate with him on, and I think he won’t refuse.”
Xaviera looked at him and asked casually, “What cooperation?”
Buck looked mysterious, “It has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to know.”
Xaviera put her cheek on her hand and blinked, “What’s the big deal that needs to be kept from me?”
Buck looked at her bright eyes and shook his head helplessly, “Little lady, even though I am working for you, I am still the president of Glaze on the surface. Are you going to interfere with my private affairs?”
Xaviera nodded thoughtfully, “You don’t have to tell me about your private affairs, and I don’t want to know, but …”
Buck knew that things were not that simple when he heard her say ‘but,’ and the next second, Xaviera said seriously, “but since it concerns Caleb, I need to know!”
She wanted to know everything about Caleb, even his miserable childhood and dark past. She didn’t dislike any of it. She just regretted not meeting Caleb earlier.
Buck was a little embarrassed and hesitated for a moment before speaking in a hoarse voice, “It’s a bit complicated to explain. Miss Winni Drew died of poisoning, and some people in our family have also been poisoned the same way. I can’t find any useful clues on my own, so I want to cooperate with Mr. Mamet to see if there can be any progress.”
Xaviera had already guessed that Buck had some connection with the Drew family, but she hadn’t expected that he had come to investigate the poison.
“I’ll talk to Mr. Mamet about this. I’ll leave first.” Buck got up, collected the contract, and sneered, “Your husband is probably on his way already. He is so nervous about you having a meal with me that he is rushing over, as if he’s afraid I’ll abduct you.”
After he finished speaking, Buck left. Xaviera’s phone lit up; it was a message from Caleb, asking her to wait for him at the Western restaurant.
Xaviera sat in the private room, looking out the large bright window at the people coming and going outside and savoring her coffee, as she leaned comfortably on the soft sofa chair. Her mind was somewhat chaotic, with images of the Drew family members passing by in front of her. Suddenly, the door of the private room was pushed open.
Xaviera thought Caleb had arrived and quickly looked up, only to see a few exquisitely dressed and wealthy women entering the room. The woman in the lead was wearing jewels and walked in with an arrogant air, wearing extravagant brands from head to toe, worth at least several hundred thousand dollars; together with the jewelry on her, it was definitely over a million dollars. She exuded an aura of nouveau riche.
When the women saw Xaviera, they hesitated for a few seconds. The woman behind them spoke awkwardly, “Murray, there’s someone in the room. Let’s switch to another room.”
Who would have thought that the woman called ‘Murray’ would furrow her brow and shout rudely, “Why should we leave? I always come to this room. If you want to leave, you leave, but I’m not going!”
After saying that, the woman walked over to Xaviera with an aggressive air and said coldly, “You! Get out!”
Xaviera looked up, giving the woman an incredulous look, “??” Where did this idiot come from? Are idiots allowed to come out now?
She didn’t respond, simply leisurely picking up the coffee, accidently revealing the jade bracelet on her wrist. Murray’s face suddenly turned gloomy, her eyes red with fury. She grabbed Xaviera’s hand like a madwoman and cursed, “Temptress! Why are you wearing the Russell family’s bracelet? Take it off!”
What do you think?
