Chapter 12: Jiang Yang: "It's ECO's voice!"
“No way... who makes a good-guy bet on getting kills during an ECO round?”
Even Ma Xixi was speechless. His cousin’s train of thought was simply too bizarre.
The viewers in the livestream didn’t expect this approach either, but since they were mostly there to kill time and have fun, they started egging him on to open the betting.
【Cousin’s unusual thought process has left me speechless.】
【For a second, I thought he was a prodigy planning a bet like ‘Can I get 40 kills in this game?’】
【LOL, does the streamer really think getting 10 kills during an ECO is that easy?】
【I bet he can’t!】
【Hurry up and open the bets; I need to start earning beans!】
With Ma Xixi’s help, Jiang Yang enabled the betting feature.
Ma Xixi felt Jiang Yang was just fooling around, but Jiang Yang himself had confidence. Ranked matches weren’t particularly exciting, so he had to get the viewers involved, or they’d lose interest quickly.
Plus, his specialty right now was shining during ANTI-ECO rounds, so he figured he’d lean into that strength. Besides, even during live streams, he played the same way he would in ranked games. If he went all out in ECO rounds and scored big, the viewers would definitely tease him about it.
So why not face the potential criticism head-on? That would actually earn him more praise.
After waiting for a while, the match was finally found.
The map was Nuke. Once again, Jiang Yang started on the defending side.
He noticed that the Perfect World matchmaking system was a bit off—lately, he’d been starting on defense way too often.
While entering the game, Jiang Yang closed the betting window in the streaming client.
Bet: "Can the streamer get 10 or more kills during ANTI-ECO rounds?"
In the “No” column, the support rate was a staggering 98.3%.
No need to guess—even those who bet on “Yes” were just looking for a big gamble.
Huya’s betting system was purely for fun; viewers could use beans earned for free by watching streams to participate. Naturally, they were enthusiastic about joining in.
Seeing this, Jiang Yang turned to the camera and said, “Alright, alright. Today, I’ll show you what it means to be the true Special Forces of the enemy’s ECO rounds!”
His performance in ANTI-ECO rounds was legendary for his rank—other players at his level would be astonished.
That afternoon’s games, aside from one high-quality match, had seen him rack up solid kill counts in the rest of the rounds. Those matches gave him plenty of confidence.
The viewers, of course, didn’t believe him.
Getting kills during ANTI-ECO rounds was relatively easier, sure, but most players only managed about 24 kills in a full game. For Jiang Yang to aim for nearly half of that in just a few rounds seemed nearly impossible.
Besides, knowing the opponents were ECO only made it harder—not easier—to secure kills. The more you rushed to rack up kills, the more likely you were to get countered.
“This guy ‘Blue’ didn’t even finish off a bomb-planting terrorist with a full magazine and ended up getting counter-killed!”
Jiang Yang’s scalp tingled. “I can’t believe the person on the other side of the screen isn’t a bot.”
During the pistol round, he opened with two kills, giving his team a decent advantage. He thought it would be an easy win like usual, but one of the terrorists clutched it, evening the numbers.
Both sides ended up fighting at B-site. With the bomb planted, one teammate seized the opportunity but somehow managed to only graze the enemy, achieving what could only be described as “outline-drawing.”
Jiang Yang was stunned. The unintended comedic timing hit perfectly.
【This teammate must be a pure local.】
【What do you mean ‘pure local’? This guy’s got Karrigan-level skills!】
【A tribute to the 12-bullet backshot.】
【This rank is more fun than watching pro play, honestly.】
【And the opponent even paid homage to kennyS, one shot to end it.】
CS:GO’s pro scene had a legendary player named Karrigan, who once famously got backshot after unloading 12 rounds from a USP. This teammate of Jiang Yang’s had just perfectly recreated that infamous moment.
After losing the pistol round, Jiang Yang was planning to save for the rifle round.
But a glance at his teammates revealed that they’d all bought weapons, so he followed suit.
Predictably, they lost another round.
Jiang Yang thought for sure they’d ECO in the next round, only to see a teammate pull out a Desert Eagle, complete with armor and utility gear. He was speechless. Was this game going to drag on forever? He quickly reminded everyone via voice chat to save for rifles.
To his surprise, they listened. Most of them held back, though two of them were a bit too quick and bought full-armor Deagles.
Unexpectedly, this round turned into a win—not because of their gear, but because the one guy who hadn’t bought anything clutched it with a bold ninja defuse while hiding in the third floor.
The morale boost was immediate.
By now, the score had evened out at 2:2.
Jiang Yang calculated that the opponents were likely broke.
Placing his hand near his ear like he was listening for something, Jiang Yang took a deep breath.
“It’s the sound... of an ECO round!”
The viewers burst into laughter.
【Why does this feel like it’s actually real?】
【Waiting for Xiao Jiang to get wrecked during the ECO round.】
【Does he really think he’s that special?】
【I thought he was actually hearing something for a second.】
Ignoring the chat, Jiang Yang handed his M4 to a teammate and picked up an MP9.
When the timer hit zero, he rushed towards the inner site. He quickly reached the yellow room and threw a flashbang to scout the area.
The grenade detonated, blinding two terrorists spraying wildly in panic. Jiang Yang wasted no time, stopping to fire his MP9 for maximum accuracy.
Kill Notifications:
【Miss Excellence Is Here uses MP9 to headshot three opponents.】
【Miss Excellence Is Here takes down “So Hungry I Shouldn’t Have Played Three Kingdoms” with MP9.】
Ma Xixi, acting as the tallyman, exclaimed, “That’s two already!”
Jiang Yang pressed on, tossing another flashbang into the enemy spawn. This time, one opponent peeked out unscathed, but Jiang Yang expertly strafed to counter.
When another enemy tried to back him up, Jiang Yang pulled out his pistol and secured a clean headshot.
The score now stood at 3:2, with Jiang Yang holding a 4-kill streak.
By the end of the match, Jiang Yang’s final tally for ECO-round kills was 16, with an overall score of 35/4/21.
The chat exploded with disbelief and admiration:
【This guy seriously got 16 ECO kills?】
【I tried this once and got Desert Eagle’d in the face.】
【Is it really just skill? Or is it luck?】
What do you think?
