“What’s going on?”

Roger asked softly.

“That guy’s a freak, you’d better stay away from him, or you might pick up some bad habits.”

“A freak?” Roger blinked in confusion.

“In what way? I didn’t notice.”

“What other way would there be?”

...

Amanda said indignantly, “Someone once posted a set of his pictures on the campus website, that guy was actually helping his own dog…”

Seeing that there were quite a few students around, Amanda seemed a bit reluctant to speak out; she formed a ring with her right hand and shook it up and down a few times.

Roger blinked, not quite understanding at first, but then he noticed Amanda’s flushed cheeks and the hidden anger in her eyes.

A flash of understanding crossed his mind.

“You mean…”

“Don’t you dare say it!” Amanda interrupted Roger’s words without any courtesy.

“Good heavens!”

Roger suddenly broke out in a cold sweat, thankful that he had not reached out just now.

“This guy really is ruthless.”

He sincerely exclaimed.

“Although Thomas doesn’t fit in at school and barely has any friends, because of that incident, very few people dare to trouble him.”

“But if you get involved with him, that’s a different story. Maybe some people’s grudges against him will be transferred to you.”

Roger nodded in agreement, who would dare to mess with such a tough character?

Dare to bully me? Believe it or not, I’ll smash your face!

“Why did you come out alone? Where’s your mom?” Amanda asked.

Roger briefly recounted what had happened, and Amanda’s face revealed a schadenfreude smile; she seemed to really enjoy seeing Roger in trouble.

Just then, the bell rang for class, and the gathered students scattered and headed towards their respective classrooms.

“Wait for me after school, I’m off.”

“Hey!”

Amanda suddenly exclaimed, as a tall figure pushed her aside. If Roger hadn’t stepped forward to help her, she might have fallen to the ground.

“What happened?”

Roger frowned and said.

A tall young man with a buzz cut turned around and looked at Roger with malice, “What’s it to you?”

Turning to Amanda, he asked, “Did I bump into you?”

“My apologies.”

After dropping a stiff apology, the young man turned and left, “Be more careful next time. Don’t stand in the middle of the hallway, or you’ll get knocked into again.”

Roger clenched his fist, about to speak up, but Amanda beside him pulled him down.

“Let it go, it’s just a little thing.”

“I’m off to class,” she said without looking back as she left.

Roger frowned, that guy was clearly targeting Amanda, but as a grown man, was it necessary to resort to such despicable tactics?

Childish mannishness?

“No wonder you can face a wolf alone; you’re really brave.”

A voice came from behind, Thomas had somehow appeared again.

“That guy is Nick, quarterback of the school’s football team. Last year his father got into some trouble and was arrested by Amanda’s mom.”

Thomas quietly lowered his voice, “By the time his father was released from prison, his mother had run off with another man. Because of this, Nick took a grudge against Adeline, and by extension, he can’t stand the sight of Amanda either.”

“There’s always something going on in school, always someone picking on Amanda. I heard his girlfriend even cornered Amanda with some Sorority members once.”

“Can’t tell if it’s true or not.”

“After school, you’d better not walk alone. That guy might not dare to mess with Amanda, but he’ll definitely lay hands on you.”

Thomas advised with a face full of good intentions.

Isn’t this guy a bit too enthusiastic towards me? Roger looked at Thomas skeptically.

Could he be a…

“Hey, buddy, what’s with that look?”

Thomas looked hurt.

“I just want to make friends with you. I prefer the company of animals to dealing with people, and I sense the same kind of spirit in you.”

“I think we might be similar.”

Thomas said.

“Maybe we could have a chat sometime.”

Roger extended his goodwill.

Having just arrived in an unfamiliar environment, it would be perfect to get a lot of information from Thomas.

“I knew my judgment wasn’t wrong!”

Thomas clapped his hands excitedly. By now the hallway was almost empty, he greeted Roger quickly and then dashed off.

Roger waited alone in the hallway for a little while longer until the door finally opened, and Adeline signaled him to follow her inside.

Roger had no idea what Adeline and the headmistress had discussed, but at least he was spared from after-school remedial classes.

However, as a condition, he had to take a private test in two months. If he passed, all would be well; if he failed, then he would have to accept the school’s arrangements without question.

Naturally, Roger agreed wholeheartedly. He decided to use this time to cram his studies, aiming to take the exam early.

Only by showing his potential genius could he negotiate more terms with Adeline and secure more free time for himself.

After wasting half the morning and completing some formalities, Adeline left the school, and Roger followed the teacher to complete his first class in Armenia.

The teaching atmosphere here was relaxed and free, with both students and teachers being rather casual. Roger was surprised to find Thomas in the classroom, who excitedly waved at him.@@novelbin@@

There was nothing particularly new for Roger. Not long after the class started, he began to daydream.

After drinking a diluted Concentration Potion, Roger began flipping through the textbook in his hands.

The entire morning went by quietly with studying, and during the break, Thomas came over to chat with Roger. However, they only deepened their acquaintance a little, without getting into detailed conversations.

Lunch was at the school cafeteria, where not only did Roger see Amanda, but he also spotted Nick from the morning, sitting beside him was a pale, exhausted-looking Bob.

The guy had lost way too much weight since their first meeting, and not only that, his spirit seemed to be oddly low, too.

Nick was constantly comforting him, but it seemed to have no effect; Bob just kept his head down, shoveling food into his mouth.

Sitting beside Bob was another familiar figure.

Lucy.

However, she didn’t seem to have changed much from a few days ago and was taking care of Bob throughout the whole time.

“Damn couple!”

Amanda whispered a curse under her breath.

Originally, opinions were on Amanda’s side because of Simpson’s death, with each party sticking to their own story. But now, seeing Bob’s gaunt appearance, many people couldn’t help but feel some sympathy for him.

In this subtle change of sentiment, Bob and Lucy received more support, and some people even whispered in private that Amanda was the one who killed Simpson.

People saw only Bob’s misery, unaware of Amanda’s resilience.

It seemed that Nick caught Amanda’s gaze, and he suddenly stood up, striding over!

“Bang!”

He slammed his tray onto the table.

“How can you still have the appetite to eat?”

“Do you have any idea what Bob goes through every day?!”
