Chapter 340 Gods and Demons.
"That's what I'm planning to do, but that is if Your Majesty allows it," Melissa looked at Elestria after she explained her plans for the future.
Melissa was planning to gain the whole nation's trust and become the only person they could depend on. She would try to protect the nation while at the same time selling the nation to Elestria behind everyone's back. She would try to antagonize Elestria while at the same time, she served Elestria without anyone knowing.
"So, you want me to be blunt about what I want and tell the world about it? That would make me look bad, and I don't that," Elestria tapped her index finger on the table.
"No, Your Majesty. Rumors and slanders are what I'm going to do," Melissa responded with a serious expression. "Your people will support you, my people will despise you. The truth doesn't matter, what matters is the crisis that will come with it," she explained.
"Hmm, that would be an interesting plan because I can focus on Dystrovia nation while the world busy with the rumors. I'll show them that the rumors are baseless or perhaps make them convinced that I'm scheming to take over the world," Elestria pointed out as she nodded her head with understanding.
"You can't convince someone from the other side of the world that it's daytime when what they see is nighttime. Your words and actions can be their daytime or nighttime, and never in between," Elysande said as she sat in the chair, away from Elestria and Melissa.
Elestria nodded her head in agreement and she already had a plan on what to do. She believed it was a good plan and all she had to do was convince those who supported her and ignore those who suspected her. At some point, one side would overwhelm the other and the rest would be history.
"The victorious wrote the history," Elestria said with a smile. "But the man you brought here with you. Who's that man?" she asked.
Melissa told Elestria about Aston and who he was because Elestria didn't know anything about him. The moment she told Elestria that Aston single-handedly dealt with the rift and left unscratched made Elestria a bit worried. The reason was that Aston might become a hindrance to her scheme.
"It's actually better with him around," Elysande pointed out as she stood up. "We need another face that will become the hero of Verdentia, no?" she looked at Elestria.
"What if he's really become the hero of Verdentia strong enough to stop the invasion on his own?" Elestria asked back with her eyebrows raised. "We don't need that kind of variable," she added.
"Don't you want to make it more believable? Because if there's no such thing as a hero, sooner or later, Melissa will be suspected of scheming with you and will reveal all the dark secrets," Elysande answered.
Elestria thought about it and remembered she had Mykel who could kill Aston when things fell off. But Melissa was smart and keen that if Elestria decided to assassinate Aston, Melissa would think it was her doing when Melissa's late father got assassinated. Although it was revealed that it was a demon that assassinated both leaders, it didn't rule out the possibility it was Elestria's doing and a part of her scheme.
"What do you think, Melissa?" Elestria asked.
"We don't know what kind of a person Aston is. We don't know if he's patriotic or someone who lives in his small world. We will do some research first about who he is, and if he can be persuaded to join our side, then it would be a lot better," Melissa explained.
Elestria and Elysande nodded their heads because Melissa's answer was enough to convince them.
"Then it's settled. The moment you leave this palace, we will be enemies," Elestria stared at Melissa. "With that being said, let's have a small celebration and we will drink until we can't drink anymore," she smiled.
Zachary hung up the phone and put it in his trousers pocket.

"Her Majesty, Lady Elysande, and Lady Melissa are having a small celebration party. We are going to be here for a while," Zachary mentioned and looked at Aston who was still trying to get a single hit on Mykel.
"Then we should have some drink," Mykel responded as he did a low kick and it was enough to make Aston slip and fall to the ground. "We will drink until you both pass out," he continued as he sat on top of Aston with his fists ready to shower Aston's face.
"I give up..." Aston said as his hands trembled from blocking Mykel's punches and kicks. He had no more strength to block Mykel's attacks anymore.@@novelbin@@
Mykel walked out of the ring and invited those two to the bar to drink and he brought Henry and Jessie with him
They were enjoying their drink as they tried to get to know each other's past. Henry and Jessie were drinking milkshakes that Mykel made for them, and he also cooked lunch for those two since there was a kitchen behind the bar.
"Have you guys wondered why this thing happened? I'm talking about the invasion because when it happened, that was the first thing that came to my mind," Aston asked as he swirled the glass in his hand.
Zachary had been asking that question as well and wondered why not Gods to deal with those demons. He asked many times and didn't get a single answer, but if the Gods couldn't do it, then what was the reason for it?
Mykel knew the answer after he encountered the Demon Princesses and the details of the reason why they attacked humans. It wasn't because of greed, boredom, or wrath toward Gods and their creations, it was as simple as an act of revenge.
"If the demons want to kill everyone in this world, they could do it in a single night. But, why didn't they do it?" Mykel asked as he looked at Henry and Jessie enjoying each other's milkshake since they had different flavors.
"The Gods will prevent them from doing so? But that also implies that the Gods should have taken care of them, but they didn't," Zachary asked back and observed the bottles on the wall.
"Because they can't. That's what I know after I asked them," Aston answered after he took a shot. "I don't know why they said that they can't, but they only told me that they have their reason, a strong reason that they can't do it," he explained.
The reason why the Gods didn't want to kill the Demon Princesses was because they were afraid. They were afraid of Luciel, the soul they had sealed because she was too powerful and the lives of her sisters were the key to unsealing her soul.
They didn't want to kill them, but the Demon Princesses decided to attack the human world because they knew the Gods would stay quiet. But their reason wasn't to conquer the world, their reason was to be killed to release Luciel's soul free. When the time came, no humans or Gods could stop her and so the Gods were in a dilemma and thought what to do.
"Why does it matter since there are barely any casualties? The Gods gave you powers and abilities to fight those monsters and demons. They gave you the power that you need, so it's your turn to get rid of those otherworldly beings," Mykel pointed out. "But the real question is, what will happen if we defeat all the demons? Will the power that you possess disappear when it's over? If they don't, what do you think will happen to this world with the godly power that everyone possesses?" he asked.
Zachary and Aston went quiet to think about what would happen to the world after the threat disappeared. Would there be peace or chaos knowing that normal human beings couldn't overpower the Gifted? Would Gods take away their powers after the threat disappeared? If so, wouldn't it be fair if they were rewarded for getting the demons since it wasn't their job in the first place?
"Why bother thinking that hasn't happened yet? Just enjoy the moment," Mykel smiled as he poured everyone's glass.
It was nighttime, and Zachary and Aston got knocked out of drinking the special alcohol that he drank back on Isola Key Island. They were escorted by Tristan when Melissa felt embarrassed that those two were making a scene, even though she was a bit tipsy from drinking.
Mykel was summoned to Elestria's office while Elysande went back to the King's palace to be with Henry and Jessie.
"Was it your idea?" Elestria asked as he poured herself an expensive whiskey.
"About Melissa's plan? What makes Your Highness think it was mine?" Mykel asked back.
"Melissa is smart, but she's not that smart when it comes to schemes since she's not cunning. She's more of a righteous person and wouldn't even have the thought to deceive people to that extent," Elestria answered as she leaned her butt on her desk and put the glass in front of her lips.
"Yes. It was my idea, but I believe she did some improvisation that not every part of the plan is mine," Mykel responded as he nodded his head.
"I like the idea, but since it was you who proposed that idea, it would be right if you take responsibility for that plan," Elestria stared into Mykel's eyes. "If things didn't go according to the plan, you would be the one who fixed it," she pointed out.
"I understand, Your Highness," Mykel bowed his head.
"You're dismissed..." Elestria drank her whiskey. "Are you going to the King's palace now?" she asked.
"No. I will be resting in my room, Your Highness. I can't bother Elysande since it's already nighttime," Mykel answered.
"Good. It seems you still have a conscience," Elestria scoffed.
"Have I ever tried to push my boundaries, Your Highness?" Mykel asked.
"No... you have not..." Elestria answered but she answered coldly.
"Well then, I'll excuse myself," Mykel bowed his head and left.
What do you think?
