Chapter 276 Ockham's razor Part 1
"Nephew, that woman attacked me, you need to help me!" A pitiful voice cried from inside the room. Uriel didn't know what to think anymore. He noticed Emma used her trait and while It didn't seem powerful, even the weakest trait could be harmful to regular humans.
Even if his uncle had been abusive towards him all his life, he also took him in when no one else would and he was worried about his safety. As vengeful as Uriel was, he was also very grateful towards those who helped him and it also couldn't be denied that without all the things his uncle put him through, he wouldn't be the same person he was today.@@novelbin@@
The good and the bad were at a balance, Uriel wouldn't feel bad by abandoning his uncle, but he wasn't capable of ignoring him when he desperately asked for help.
"I'm sorry, but I can't disobey him." Uriel said as he grabbed Emma like a sack of potatoes and carried her over his shoulder. It wasn't the first time he took people to his uncle, he always demanded people to visit him on his room only to never see them again but he guessed it was because his uncle was a really unpleasant person.
"No! You have to see this picture! Look at it, please!" Uriel was stronger than he looked, in fact, even with all of her strength she couldn't make him budge an inch. In despair, Emma placed the picture in front of his face and Uriel looked at it with disinterest.
"Everyone knows cryptids don't appear on pictures, this is bogus."
"No, no, please!" Emma cried harder and clung her nails on Uriel's shoulders in a desperate attempt to get him to release her, but the outcome was different from what she expected. Instead of releasing her, Uriel's eyes lit up brightly with flux energy and she was filled with an horror greater than she ever experienced before.

"What is this place?" Nika woke up in a bright place she didn't recognize. There wasn't much to see, but it somehow resembled the interior of the buildings in Chichén Itzá, only every brick was pristine and looked brand new instead of aged.
She scanned her surroundings, only to notice the presence of a handsome man, even more handsome than Swallow chief.

He was wearing a white cape and something that resembled those Egyptian skirts she had seen on the pharaos of old movies, the only accessories he wore were a pair of golden anklets but other than that he was completely naked which allowed her to bask in the sight of his chiseled abs and exuberant pectorals.
To Nika, it was as though the word 'perfect' had been invented just to describe that man and she pulled her cheek until it hurt just to check if she was dreaming.
"Is this heaven? It seems I lost too much blood. Oh, well..." She shrugged and jumped on top of the man who didn't notice her presence until she was already straddled on top of him.
"Let go of me, you insolent human!" Water warlock said as he stood up with Nika still refusing to let go.
"No, this is my heaven and I'll do as I wish. Take off the rest of your clothes."
"I am the mighty Water warlock. You have no power over me!" His words were prideful as usual and his voice was still as solemn as always, yet something in his tone made him sound flustered.
"Water... warlock? You're the witch!" Nika jumped back as she began crossing herself over and over.
"Look what you've done!" Water warlock complained as he realized that Nika's blood spilled all over him and also ruined the magazine he was reading. Only then did Nika notice that the man had a very particular magazine in his hand, one that she knew from before.
"Isn't that Uriel's porn magazine?" She looked at the man with suspicion.
"This isn't what you think." Water warlock excused himself as he hid the magazine behind his back.
"You stole it from Uriel's museum because there's nothing else to do inside his trait and you were bored to death."
"Then it precisely is what you think." He replied trying to cover his embarrassment by keeping busy. He waved his hand causing a stream of water to wash the blood away, leaving him spotless. But the next thing he did caused a great impression on Nika, his eyes shimmering in cyan and the same water that previously cleaned him, healed her in an instant.
"Witchcraft!" She said, as she crossed herself, but she then noticed her wound didn't hurt anymore. "What did you do to me!?"
"I healed you." "Water warlock replied with a voice Nika found to be soothing-
"But, how?" She tilted her head.
"With water, how else?"
"I don't get it. At first I thought I was dead and this was heaven, then I thought I was inside Uriel's trait along with you, but it should be impossible to use a trait inside of a trait."
"Your first guess was technically more correct. This place isn't for the living, but also not for the dead. We are currently in the boundaries of the mystical realm. I don't have a trait like you humans, my power is absolute and I can do what I want."
"Is there any way to come back?" She said after trying to activate her trait without success.
"Except that, I can't go back nor can I send you back. At least until certain conditions are fulfilled." He sighed.
"What conditions?"
"I am not willing to discuss this any further."
"Then how about we talk about you stalking me like a creep when I'm in the museum. Like, all the time you're staring at my..." The more Nika talked, the more flustered Water warlock became until he couldn't bear it anymore and cut her short.
"There was a jeweled bracelet meant to bring back Dearest one from the realm of Xibalbá and she could have brought us all together. But that stupid kid broke it and left me stuck in the dagger." Water warlock became more talkative, just to keep Nika from saying awkard things. This reminded her of the way Uriel used to behave back when she first met him.
It wasn't just a one time thing, it was a pattern, and Nika realized there was only one possible explanation: Water warlock's and Uriel's emotions were swapped.
What do you think?
