Chapter 286 Kick in the nuts

Medusa knew it wasn't a date, she was certain, but there were still many different possibilities. 'Is he taking me to a hotel?' she thought, 'Am I ready for something like this?' she thought, but not even after a year of guessing she would have come with the right answer.

He was taking her to college.

They made their way towards the gym and Uriel began stretching his limbs preparing himself for the physical activity all the while Medusa tried to conceal her disappointment as best she could.

"Why did you bring me here?"

"You said he didn't want you to use your trait on me anymore, didn't you?"

"Yes, Water warlock. I believe he's been messing with my feelings this whole time and I need a way to fix this situation before it's too late. I need to find a way to communicate with him, but it's not going to be easy. Besides, I want to perform some experiments regarding my physical prowess too."

"You could have done this all by yourself." Medusa let out in a sigh.

"Yes, but since we had so much fun last time I figured you may want to do it again," Uriel lingered for a few seconds and looked Medusa directly on the eye. "I know this won't make any sense to you but I've been avoiding speaking about our feelings because I have none."

"What do you mean?" This topic was something that truly interested her and it was the first time Uriel opened up in front of her, even if he still sounded cold.

"I know how I felt about you before I met Water warlock, but after that I became an empty shell. I know how am I supposed to feel or the things I should say, but my feelings feel foreign and distant. You can be patient and wait until I find a way to fix it or you can help me speed up the process." Uriel said as he took off his shirt.

"You can't possibly want to do it right here!? What if someone walks in?" Medusa asked amidst stuttering.

"Don't worry, I paid a hefty sum to the college in advance to reserve this building just for the two of us."

"A-alright then," Medusa hesitantly began unbuttoning her shirt under Uriel's curious stare. "W-what?"

"The reason why I'm taking off my clothes is because I want to trigger Water warlock's blessing without activating it intentionally by fighting against you and I don't want to waste perfectly fine clothes, but if you want to take off your clothes I'm not going to stop you."

"You!" Medusa puffed out her cheeks, but after calming herself down she kept the buttons undone with a mischievous smile and then assumed a fighting stance.

Uriel placed his smartphone on a tripod at a distance and set it to recording and walked back to the middle of the gym where Medusa was waiting.

"I'm ready," As soon as those words left his mouth Medusa darted forward like an arrow with a punch to the face that Uriel blocked without problems. "You'll have to do better than this." He let out while holding on to her fist, but the mischievous smile had yet to disappear from her face and she followed with a low kick that landed directly on a man's weak point.

"Like this?" Medusa asked after giving Uriel some time to recover from the pain that forced him to arch forward. After feeling wronged for so long by watching Uriel go out with other girls with complete disregard for her feelings towards him, kicking him in the nuts felt like justice.

"Better, but not enough." Uriel coughed and composed himself.

Medusa leaped forward with a high kick, it was her signature first strike and Uriel knew it well enough to dodge it without effort, but Medusa didn't stop there. Every step she took came accompanied by a fist, knee or kick which Uriel either dodged or blocked, but those weren't meant to hurt him, only to throw him off balance.

After a while, Uriel realized it wasn't working because she had no intention to harm him.

"This isn't working, you need to come at me like you want to kill me."

"I can't do something like that!"

Uriel let out a sigh and took off his pocket knife from his trait, then proceeded to stab himself on the chest under Medusa's dumbfounded look. He fell limp to the ground, but after a minute he was able to stand up like nothing happened.

"See? I can heal from anything but Water warlock won't come out if I harm myself. We need to make him think that my life is in danger or this will be useless."

"I know what you want, but it's difficult to fight with my all when you're not even trying to hit me."

"But, you're my friend and even if my emotions are all messed up, I still know it's wrong." Uriel now realized the difficult spot they were in. If he harmed himself the passive ability of Water warlock's blessing would heal him, if Medusa wounded him mortally without the intention to kill him he would be forced to activate the blessing himself.

Both scenarios didn't involve Water Warlock's activating the blessing on his end, which mean his plan to draw him out was flawed and destined to fail from the start.

"I have an idea. What if we make a bet? If you will I'll transfer you all my earnings from the last month."

"And if you win?" Uriel asked with suspicion. What he and Water warlock had in common was their unwillingness to waste any money.

"If I win, you'll give me a k-k, I want a k-" Medusa blushed as brightly as her crimson eyes and tripped over her tongue over and over.

"Fine, if you win I'll kiss you." Uriel quickly agreed.

"Then it's settled." Medusa said with a sweet voice and those were the last words Uriel heard before passing out.
