Chapter 329 Timothy
Once Uriel's arm had regrown completely, he and the original Dungeon Raiders walked the long way across the seemingly endless cavern to meet with the rest of the inhabitants of Easter Island. It would have been nothing out of the ordinary, if not for a single fact.
They were cannibals.
They weren't raised like that, in fact, they were pretty much regular people with normal day jobs like any other neighbor's son until they were trapped in a cave by the cryptids called Aku Aku. Left with no choice, they resorted to eating their fallen, until that wasn't enough and ended up slaughtering those who opposed them.
Evil or not, they did what they needed to survive. It was a rational choice, which led Uriel to believe they could be redeemed if presented with food and a plan to exit the cave they were trapped in. However, he wasn't as naive as to think that just because they used to be normal people reaching an agreement with them would be an easy feat, which is why he decided didn't want to go all by himself.
For the first time in a while, Uriel was actually scared. The Aku Aku were unsettling, but the thought of being captured by cannibals and eaten for all of eternity was among the worst fates he could imagine.
"They're over there." Sam warned.
"Alright everyone, turn on your flashlights." Uriel commanded and everyone complied, even Luna who refused to let go of Uriel for a single second.
"They noticed us. They're coming. They're getting close." Sam kept informing the enemy movements.
"Hold on, don't do it yet." Uriel muttered.
Then, a group of five shirtless men covered in white body paint jumped out of the darkness showing clear signs of hostility towards the group, but without actually attacking them. It was clear they were reluctant to face people who seemed to be in perfect condition, but what bothered them the most was that they didn't seem scared.
"Now!" Uriel shouted, though nothing happened.
The attackers tilted their heads, confounded, but then one by one they fell to the ground without knowing what hit them. The remaining cannibal took a few steps back putting his back to the wall of the cave trying to defend himself swinging an odd shaped white weapon.
"Is that a human bone!?" Nika, the one who took out the other four enemies, gasped at the sight of the uncanny weapon.
"It's a human femur, to be more precise. People from easter island were pretty good at making weapons and tools from fish bones, though I never saw a weapon made of human bone before." Uriel explained.
"Drop your weapon." Medusa walked in, trying to intimidate the man with her unsettling red eyes, but when that failed, she activated her trait prompting the man to fall on his knees.
Uriel then grabbed the bone for himself, even if it was freshly made it was still a cultural object, but Ika didn't see it that way.
"How can you be so sacrilegious!? It's made from a person!"
"I just wanted to inspect it." He blatantly lied before reluctantly dropping the bone in the ground.
After the awkward moment, Luna took the chance to tie the four fallen cannibals together and the last one apart, so they could interrogate him, though they were forced to wait until he recovered from Medusa's petrifying glare. It took a while, but that allowed Uriel to study the drawings on their bodies.
"It seems that they're marking themselves depending on the amount of people they consumed."
"Yes, they believe it makes them stronger, the more white dots they have the stronger they're supposed to be."
"Then we hit the jackpot," Nika said pointing at the only conscious enemy who had the most white dots painted on his chest. "Hey, are you the leader?" Nika asked, but the man remained silent. Then she asked him a couple question in Spanish, but whether or not he understood her words he didn't show it.
"It's pointless, Ika, why don't you interrogate him in your tongue?"
"I don't think that will work either. He understands you guys, he just won't speak. I know him, his name is Tim and he was a fisherman." Ika said, having trouble to reconcile the man she used to know with the cannibal in front of her.
"If he won't cooperate, we have no choice but to torture him. Luna, take care of that." The man grunted at Uriel's words, but didn't show any fear.
"No way," Ika stood in front of the man to protect him and then continued. "You can't torture a human being no matter what they did! And you don't even have the guts to do it yourself, you want to leave your dirty work to an innocent child! You don't have a heart!" Her words made Uriel chuckle.
He found amusing that she had no clue about how true her last statement was, but he found even funnier that Ika was calling Luna a child. Still, Uriel decided to explain things to Ika before doing something that could get her to distrust them. "We need him to take us to his leader and we can't afford to waste any more time." Upon hearing Uriel, the man suddenly stood up and nodded.
There was a strange inhumane glint in his eyes, something that resembled the way cryptids looked at humans. It wasn't just hunger, there was a hint of pure hatred dwelling within them and it brought shivers to everyone present.

"They can't be so bad..." Medusa, who always tried to see the best in people, muttered trying to reassure herself.
"Why do you think so?" Uriel asked with curiosity.
"Because, even if they eat people, they're all skin and bones. It means they're only eating what they need to survive."
"Maybe... but we can't be sure until we speak to their leader."
The group followed the cannibal with slow steady steps paying attention to all of his movements, across the stony cavern amidst the rythmic crunching sound of their steps.
What do you think?
