Chapter 341 Blood brothers Part 1
Many days later, no one knew exactly how many, a ragged figure appeared on top of the Air spirit people's nesting rock. It was Uriel, though instead of being greeted with smiles and approval like Sam, the entire flock began chirping and sounding the alarm as soon as he set foot on the rock.
"Calm down guys, he's my brother," Sam said dragging his words in a strange manner. "what brings you here?"
"You know exactly why I'm here. I know you saw me days ago and you didn't even bother to greet me." Uriel replied with glimmering eyes that reflected his anger.
"I would have loved to, but I have responsibilities with my new family and I also have no intention of going back with you."
"I didn't come all the way here just to bring you back. I came because the only way to exit this dungeon is to destroy the egg." Uriel shook his head with a twisted smile on his face, still walking towards Sam.
"That's not going to happen, why don't you settle here? I could make you my second in command and you can take as many wifes as you wish. Look at them, they're all more beautiful than any human can ever hope to become, they're perfect. We'll be able to live a happy, easy life in this marvelous place."
"You saw the pictographs too, didn't you?"
"I don't know what are you talking about."
Uriel stopped in front of his friend, who looked the complete opposite to him. Uriel's clothes, or what was left of them, were all ragged and he was covered in seaweed and dry salt, while Sam's attire was brand new, crafted with vegetal fiber.
The white toga really complimented his handsome features and he had the noble appearance of a king of the ancient times, in contrast, Uriel looked like a beggar asking for spare change in a corner of the slums.
"The Air spirit people, they're not humans..."
"I know, they're hybrids!"
"No, they're not. They're not humans, hybrids or cryptids, they're something different, something far more dangerous than anything humanity ever faced before."
"No! You're lying! They're gentle and kind, they're incapable of harming humans!" Sam shouted with a broken voice.
"This is the first dungeon ever made, it's called the bellybutton of the world because it was supposed to be at the center of all the other dungeons. Each of them has a different purpose, some were made as refuge, others as prisons, this particular one was a laboratory. Do you remember David Crockett's diary? It mentioned an evil trapped within The Alamo dungeon."
"Are you implying they're evil? Take a look at them! They're harmless, they're all scared of you."
"It's not what they do what makes them dangerous but what they can give birth to. The Air spirit people are descendants of angels, real life angels, Sam! And the one with the purest blood of all the tribe is none other than the one you chose as your wife."
"Isn't that good? Angels are good."
"Yes, but there's this book..."
"Stop it, I don't want to hear anything you have to say. Just leave this place and leave us alone!"
Realizing there was no point in arguing with Sam anymore, Uriel did something he knew he would later regret. He pulled his revolver and pointed it towards Sam. "Hand me the egg or else..." Uriel glared at Sam's wife who was cowering behind him, craddling her egg covered in blankets.
"Or what!? You'll kill me!? Do it! I dare you to fucking do it!" Sam pressed his forehead against the cold plated steel. One thing Sam did not expect, though, was Uriel following through with his threat. He was counting on him taking it back and somehow things would be just like before, they would goof around and joke about it later while sharing a meal and everything will be alright.
But what happened instead was Uriel cocking the hammer and pulling the trigger.
The deafening sound of a bullet being fired from the chamber at 1525 feet per second jumpscared the Air spirit people, some of whom even took flight in hopes to escape whatever threat was dawning upon them.
Sam fell on his knees, his eyes in wide shock and a stream of tears trickling down his cheeks.
"You did it, you actually pulled the trigger!" Said Sam after activating his own version of the Dash skill called Celerity and dodging the bullet trajectory just enough to get a hair trim instead of having his brains blown out.
"I did warn you," Uriel replied dismissively and then continued. "This dungeon will remain shut until the egg is destroyed, it's the last fail-safe measure taken by those who made this dungeon. If the experiment failed..."
Sam was completely heartbroken and didn't listen to his words, there was no other way to describe how utterly betrayed he felt by the person he trusted more than anyone in the world. Uriel was his friend, his chosen brother, the person who encouraged him to grow into the man he was today and yet, he still attempted to kill him.
"You," Sam's eyes lit up brightly in a golden yellow, he channeled so much flux energy the wind around him became so strong Uriel had trouble standing his ground and was dragged a few centimeters back by the powerful current. "how envious can you be? You have everything in this world.
More money than you know how to spend, beautiful women making a line to date you, power beyond reason and you still can't let me be!? All I asked, all I ever asked of you was this one small thing, to just let me live my life with the Air spirit people."
"It's not like that..." Uriel tried to argue, but was met with a fist to the face. Although Uriel managed to activate Dash in the last second, with Celerity active, adjusting the trajectory of his punch wasn't even difficult and Uriel lost consciousness, but Sam didn't stop there and followed with a deathly stomp.
Sam heaved a sigh of relief that lasted only until an intense shimmer erupted from Uriel's corpse.
"You shouldn't have done that."
What do you think?
