Chapter 342 Blood brothers Part 2

"You really shoulnd't have done that." Said Uriel, briming with the power bestowed upon him by Water warlock's blessing, hw stood upright in an instant as though he was being lifted by invisible chords and threw a right hook that connected on Sam's chin, followed with a kick to the stomach that sent him flying across the rock formation.

Sam was in pain and couldn't understand how did Uriel become stronger than him in just a few seconds, but before Uriel could reach for the egg all the surrounding Air spirits threw themselves at Uriel.

They didn't try to harm him though, instead they simply used their bodies to block his movements and prevent him from taking the egg, but with Water warlock's blessing active their efforts were useless.

Uriel darted forward sneaking past the tribesmen with the intention to snatch the egg from the hands of Sam's wife, but what happened instead was him receiving a powerful kick to the side, though it didn't cause any damage and only managed to knock Uriel back a few centimeters.

"Why!? Why do you have to get on the way of my happiness?" Sam asked launching a flurry of fists, hitting each and every single one of them, but what little damage he managed to inflict was immediately healed by Water warlock's blessing.

Uriel remained silent, the time for solving the matter with reason had long passed, but he didn't strike back. It wasn't that he didn't want to, it was that Sam's Celerity skill was more advanced than his Dash and Sam moved even faster than Nika when she fought seriously.

Sam was able to move at an inusitated speed which gave him the upper hand in close combat and with his enhanced reflexes Uriel was incapable of even countering a single hit. Not just that, if it came to endurance Uriel too was at a disadvantage since keeping Water warlock's blessing along with Dash active drained his flux energy at a fast rate.

However, Uriel was far more experienced than Sam on battle, that's why he was focusing solely on the defense. By doing so, he was able to learn his pattern of movement and rythm to the point where he was able to predict his moves and he was finally able to strike back.

The two hunters fought each other with all they had, Uriel even fired at Sam whenever he had the chance, just to throw him off balance because he knew Sam would be able to anticipate the bullets and move out of the way before he even pulled the trigger.

Sam fought so fiercely that Uriel realized that defeating him without killing him would be impossible, but the time came when he figured out that in order to 'win' he didn't need to defeat Sam. All he needed was to steal or break the egg, but most of the Air spirit people remained on the rock formation and refused to take flight waiting for an opportunity to save the new chief's egg.

The pain from spending too much flux energy over such a short period should have been unbearable, but after falling into so many traps his mind was steeled. Not just that, because he was raised by a cryptid who tortured for years before he managed to run away and pursue his studies, it was as though all of his life prepared him to endure the downside of Water warlock's blessing.

With the revolver in one hand and the clay figurine on the other, Uriel made a last ditch attempt to get rid of Sam even if it was for a couple seconds and threw it right in between them. Sam saw every instant of the jaguar spirit being summoned, but there was nothing he could do.

With Sam out of the way, Uriel finally had a clear line of sight to Sam's wife. Because Dash skill and Water warlock's blessing were still in effect, from his perspective it was as though she was standing still and he would be able to snatch the egg from her hands with ease.

'This won't work, my flux energy is almost depleted and If I try to run away with the egg all they have to do is follow me until I run out of energy. I can't fly like them and Sam is way faster than me.' Uriel thought to himself, trying to figure out a way to defeat Sam that didn't involve killing him until an Idea dawned on him.

He cocked his gun, pointed it at the woman's head and pulled the trigger.

It was a glimpse of a second, but Sam rushed in knowing that the moment the bullet left the chamber was already too late, though with the help of his Celerity skill he was able to block the bullet's trajectory with his arms. The shot went through Sam's arms, rendering them useless and since Uriel was close enough, Sam countered with a heavy kick to the side that should have killed him.

Uriel was already expecting something like that and he continued firing his weapon until no more bullets were left forcing Sam to block them with his body over and over until he was lying limp in the ground, bleeding to death.

"No! Stay away from her." Sam coughed up blood as he extended his mangled arm towards Uriel.

"You forced my hand, all I wanted was too take the egg but you had to be so unreasonable." Uriel replied after his body healed completely and he cancelled both Dash and Water Warlock's blessing.

"Don't do this, please... even if it's an egg, it's still my child!"

"Wake up, Sam! You saw it on the wall, the short eared people and the long eared people didn't go to war because they wanted to crown a new king, they went to war because their offspring was evil!"

"You're lying! Those are just drawings on the wall! They're meaningless." Sam shouted as though trying to convince himself.
