Chapter 352 Homeless
"And? What did you do?" Medusa interrupted Uriel's recount of what happened inside the dungeon as she couldn't even think of Uriel doing something as evil as killing the man who rescued him when he was about to die, but Uriel fell silent and it was Luna who answered the question.
"He's here, what do you think he did?"
"No, but... he must have found another way to exit the dungeon."
"He said it himself. The only way for him to exit the dungeon was to kill Manu." Nika added.
"Uriel? Uriel," Medusa asked with a soft voice that then turned into a high pitch scream. "Uriel!"
"I don't what to talk anymore." He replied with his eyes lost in the past and a dejected expression on his face.
"Medusa, he only did what he needed to survive." Nika tried to reason with Medusa, but she was having none of it. So far, Medusa had tolerated Uriel's misdoings mostly because she knew about Water warlock's influence, but if Uriel killed Manu in the dungeon after Water warlock possessed Sam there was no excuse.
"But he killed Ika's boyfriend on cold blood. How can you be fine with this!?" Teary eyed, Medusa asked her friends, but they were clearly the wrong crowd for passing moral judgement. Luna was a hybrid with complete disregard for human life and Nika was a former member of the liberation army that oppposed the goverment.
"If he did something wrong or not it's besides the point. We need him, we really do! We're drawning in debt, but we can't sell our orichalcum reserve to the government because of the Fallen corp. and we can't go hunting either because we're wanted by the Celes company. Uriel, please, come back with us." Nika begged.
"I told you already, I'm in no shape to hunt. When my hand broke it took two weeks to heal, I can't risk getting hurt anymore."
"Are you saying that without that dude you're helpess? Because if that's what you're saying your a spineless coward. All hunters risk their lives on a daily basis and here you are, too scared to even go back to college."
"You're only proving my point, I can't hunt anymore, I can't go back with you guys either." Uriel shrugged his shoulders.
"Well, you can't stay here either. I'm kicking you out..." Explore more stories with My Virtual Library Empire
"Babe?"
"Don't babe me, what you did is unforgivable! Poor Ika, she cried on my shoulder for days and you did nothing, you didn't even let her know he was dead."
"Are you breaking up with me?"
"Yes, no, I don't know. I need time to think." Medusa dubiously said.
"Now that you don't have a place to live anymore, you can go back with us now." Nika said with a cocky smile, though instead of convincing him to go back with them, he stormed off.
"That was, uhm... wrong." The fact that even Luna knew it was wrong to say that caused a great impression on Nika who expected a completely different outcome.
Uriel felt a surge of intense emotions that overwhelmed him. Even if it had been a while since he lost Water warlock to Sam, he was still having trouble adjusting to facing his own emotions and he didn't know how to deal with them anymore.
He cried in anger, sadness and also embarrassment. It was true that he didn't have a place to live anymore, perhaps if Nika didn't say anything, it would have spared him of the humiliation and he might have gone with her.
Now, however, he was walking aimlessly in the streets, with no place to go and no one to rely on. After all he'd been through, being homeless wasn't that bad for him, it was being alone what destroyed him. He lost his chosen brother, he lost his girlfriend and he couldn't go back with Nika and Luna.
It wasn't that he didn't want to, but besides the humiliation of coming back to them only when he had nowhere else to stay, he didn't want to let them down.
The Dungeon Raiders company was experiencing its first great obstacle, but it was also one that threatened to destroy the company. Since Nika relied on loan sharks to buy the equipment needed to extract and process the orichalcum from the Alamo dungeon, they were in heavy debt and they were being cornered by other companies.
The worst part was that Uriel's hands were tied, because he was unable to hunt in his current state and he had no means to pay any of their employees.
Uriel realized that Water warlock's blessing wasn't the only thing that allowed him to achieve so many things in a short amount of time, his influence on his emotions also helped a great deal. But he also realized that he had indeed been relying on him too much and he had a lot of growing up to do.
'If even someone as coward as Sam was able to overcome his fears, then...' Uriel's train of thoughts was interrupted when he bumped into someone he knew. It was none other than Vivian, the woman who sold him the abandoned factory that was now the Dungeon Raiders headquarters and also Mary's sister.
"Mister Sage, what are you doing here?"
"I'm... I'm just..." Uriel's face was a mess, his eyes were bloodshot red after so much crying and he was clearly in distress, but that wasn't the reason why Vivian was so shocked to see him.
"It's about curfew time, why don't you go home?"
"Home," He echoed as a wry smile took place on his face. "I don't have a home now."
Vivian looked at him with a confounded gaze. She knew he was rich, at least for a regular person's standard, and also that he was a capable hunter who should have no issues in getting money, but nothing changed the fact that the curfew was nearing and no one should stay outside at such hour.
"Woud you like to... stay with me for tonight?" Vivian blurted out as her face blushed in a bright shade of red.
What do you think?
