Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Not Afraid of Disasters With Supplies (2)
“What area is completely buried over there?”
“It’s the logistics living camp.” Commissioner Li Yun apologized with a smile, “The kitchen and dining hall were destroyed, and now for drinking water, we mainly rely on the Water Element Soldiers barely supplying it until the materials arrive, your living…”
Ye Nai didn’t wait for her to finish, and clasped her hands.
“Commissioner Li, all the captains and commissary officers, would you like to do a little business with me? I still have some water, food, and medicine, and I can take care of you all for a few days before the materials arrive.”
“Really?!”
As soon as Ye Nai spoke these words, she gave everyone present a huge surprise.
“As a Space Awakened, I wouldn’t run short of water and food.”
Ye Nai knew that words alone were not convincing, so she showed a little demonstration.
Right on the ground she had just cleared, suddenly appeared two hundred barrels of water, on top of which were boxes of disposable takeaway paper bowls and electrolyte mix.
This immediately caused an outcry of astonishment among the surrounding warriors.
“I see everyone is exhausted, let’s replenish some electrolytes first.”
Li Yun reacted and clasped Ye Nai’s hand firmly, shaking it, “I really appreciate it.”
Then she looked towards Captain Cao Zhengyuan.
Captain Cao Zhengyuan and the other two shook hands with Ye Nai again, their smiles unfolded their wrinkles, sweeping away their previously distressed expressions.
“Your timely arrival is a huge help.”
“You flatter me, Captain. May I finish checking in first?”
“Ah yes, yes, check in first, check in first.”
Li Yun took out an ID scanner from her own space, equipped with a small screen.
Ye Nai handed over her ID card, Li Yun swiped it in the machine, and her personal and mission information appeared on the screen just like at the several checkpoints she had passed through.
After reviewing the information, Li Yun returned the ID card to Ye Nai, then passed the small machine to the captains for inspection; this was standard procedure, especially in such a critical military unit as the frontline camp, when a newcomer arrived, it was essential that the highest commanding officers were informed.
Gao Chun opened his constantly handled military tablet and pulled up the notifications he had received earlier to verify them.
“Is the welfare good, allowing you to register minors in your family, from small places, what you crave most is the education resources of big cities.”
“Yes, most Awakeners who take on missions are attracted by this benefit.”
Ye Nai’s information was verified without any issues, and finally, Captain Cao clicked to confirm the check-in on the screen.
Just as they finished, several van-style large trucks drove up to the other end of the camp, the people who alighted were all clean, and they quickly unfolded the truck panels, revealing the cooking equipment inside.
It turned out these were mobile kitchens.
The cooks opened the barrels of water, poured the water into soup pots and large frying pans, and prepared pots of electrolytes by mixing one liter of water with a bag of mix, then distributed it to the warriors using paper bowls.
The company commanders came out one by one, gathered their troops, led by each squad leader, lined up waiting for water.
The captains, commissary officers, and commissioners stood aside, not drinking first.
Ye Nai was no longer in the mood to just stand and wait, her released spores had gone to the enemy camp across the buffer zone, not used on the warriors, otherwise she would have known the total number of people in the camp in minutes.
Frontline stronghold, knowing too much detail seems not too good.
“Commissioner Li, everyone will be drinking water for a while, which direction is the logistics camp? I’ll take the opportunity to clean that area thoroughly, and start environmental disinfection immediately.”
“Do you even carry disinfectants with you?”
Ye Nai smiled slightly and took out her Beginner First Aider certificate.
“Okay, I’ll join you, can a bulldozer fit two people?”
“Yes, there is a passenger seat.”
Li Yun first sent the order down to have the medics on standby, then she and Ye Nai boarded the bulldozer. As soon as they were seated, Ye Nai handed her a bottle of electrolyte sports drink.
“Don’t mention it, you’re nearly dehydrated, logistics is the toughest job.”
Li Yun smiled, did not refuse, and unscrewed the cap to gulp down half the bottle in one go.
After she finished drinking, Ye Nai started the machine and plunged into the mud.
Wherever the bulldozer went, masses of thick mud vanished in layers in a fan shape.
“Can your ‘Space’ really be used like this? I thought at first it was because you were standing in the mud, but turns out you don’t have to touch it firsthand, and it works through a medium?”
“The medium is connected to me; it’s an extension of my hands. Can’t other Space Awakened do this?”
“Rarely, none of our Space warriors here can, nor can I.”
Ye Nai worked swiftly, gradually clearing out the entire vast logistics living camp bit by bit.
This place mainly consisted of the kitchen canteen, sanitary bathrooms, medical treatments, and warehouse supplies areas, now all buried under the massive amounts of mud that had flowed down from the mountains.
Once the mud entered the ‘Space,’ the debris wrapped inside was autonomously separated by ‘Space’: mud remained mud, gravel remained gravel, and boulders remained boulders.
When heaps of man-made objects appeared among the separated debris, since they were all tangled up, they ended up being piled together, making them difficult to separate.
There was everything: construction debris from the prefab buildings, kitchen utensils from the canteen, medical supplies from the field hospital, and clothing and socks from the supply warehouse.
“Ah, years of building up the logistics camp gone to waste, such is the power of nature. What can Awakeners do when even human effort cannot compete?”
Li Yun couldn’t help but reflect, devastated by the destruction of years of hard work and the huge loss of property; anyone would feel sad and regretful.
“Look on the bright side, are the people okay?”
“Indeed, everyone got away, and nothing else was destroyed, only the living camp.”
“Well, that’s a relief, the cost of rebuilding a living camp is much cheaper than arms and ammunition.”
“Haha, you’re right.”
After most of the mud was cleared, the spacious camp was exposed, but the ground was still covered with a layer of muddy water. Ye Nai drove the bulldozer back and forth, attempting to scoop it up into ‘Space’.
Finally, it was Li Yun who called a halt, and only then did Ye Nai stop, driving the bulldozer to the inside of the camp and dumping all the separated rubble and trash from the mud.
The first group of warriors who had recovered their strength from the electrolytes had gathered at the edge of the camp, ready to work. Seeing the heaps of trash thrown out, they immediately went forward to clean and sort it.
Among the sorted items, the clothing and socks still had second-hand value; they could still be worn after being thoroughly washed and disinfected, but the rest became trash.
The greatest loss had to be the water purification equipment. This large, floor-standing device supplied all the camp’s domestic water needs and was now junk.
With the equipment gone, the debris flow had also covered the riverbed from which water was originally drawn, making the drinking water issue a severe problem.
The warriors cleaning around the bulldozer occasionally let out sounds of pity as they looked at the damaged goods.
Ye Nai and Li Yun got off the bulldozer and put the machine away.
What do you think?
