Chapter 76: Chapter 76 Spider Leg Meat is Really Delicious (1)

It was clear there were male and female spiders by comparison, but whether those larger giants were male or female was unknown; Ye Nai couldn’t tell them apart. Facing such huge creatures, it was already good that she didn’t scream, let alone inspect their genital pores to determine their gender. She was simply incapable of doing so.

The spider egg sacs were of course decomposed by the fungus, including the silk on them. While the silk was indeed a good material, she wasn’t a craftsman in this area. It was useless for her to keep it, better to nourish the fungus with it since it is rich in nutrients.

As for the other large spiders, aside from those valuable parts she wanted, the rest were also fed to the fungus.

The stronger the fungus, the faster the decomposition speed, and she was not stingy about it.

When Ye Nai saw heaps of poison teeth, poison sacs, and silk glands just piled on the floor of the space, she couldn’t think of what to use to contain them. Eventually, she decided she would buy glass jars to store them after returning to East Ridge City.

Once the entire space was tidied up, Ye Nai was surprised to find that the remaining volume didn’t seem to have decreased much. She immediately started measuring the length, width, and height inside the space. With the 10*10 meter shelf as a reference, it was easy to estimate that the total volume of the space had increased to about 2400 cubic meters.

...

To be precise, she’d still need to buy a laser ruler.

Ye Nai was very happy, as it was indeed a growth-type space. Although it grew slowly, most of the storage-type Space Users’ spaces wouldn’t expand at all. The size at the time of Awakening would be the same until death.

Just then, the alarm clock rang, and Ye Nai got up with joy, washed up, and went to the cafeteria for breakfast with her team.

Once the team was ready, they prepared to return just as the camp sent over gifts.

From the large number of spiders defeated yesterday, the spider legs were detached and six whole ones were sent to the squad, one of which was specifically for Ye Nai.

It was only when she held it in her hands that she realized just how massive a spider was.

This single spider leg, when stood upright, was taller than Ye Nai; including the body, one large spider was like a tank, and calling them bigger than her dining table yesterday was an understatement.

The other extracted parts like the poison sacs, silk glands, and exteriors were packed up and taken back to the danger zone by the squad, as there was no capability to process them in the Secret Realm.

The vehicle convoy embarked and traveled on the highway for five days before finally reaching Secret Realm town number 2, stepping out of the Secret Realm and back into East Ridge City.

Ye Nai continued by vehicle out of Secret Realm’s town number 1 until she reached a fork in the road, where she disembarked and bid farewell to the team. She then mounted her motorcycle, following the GPS on her phone, heading back alone to danger zone number 5.

Arriving back home after more than half a month, a thin layer of dust had accumulated everywhere. Fortunately, she had stored the furniture in the Space before she left, so sweeping the house twice took just half an hour. After rearranging the furniture, it was a pleasantly clean house once again.

The computer desk was placed in the vacant north-facing secondary bedroom, directly used as a study.

After another shower and change of clothes, she felt refreshed and collapsed in the living room’s recliner, starting to sort through the spoils of war in her space.

In nearly a week’s time, the fungus had completely decomposed the garbage on the large spider bodies in the space, leaving the valuable exteriors spotless without a trace of spider tissue. When placed in the hands of a professional craftsman, a rinse with water was all it took to proceed with the next steps.

She ordered a large number of laboratory glass bottles on her phone, and planned to buy the laser ruler when she happened upon it during a shopping trip, as this item wasn’t urgently needed and there was no need to specifically order it online.

Looking at the huge spider legs waiting in her space for her enjoyment, Ye Nai took out the one gifted by the frontline camp, took another one, then another one.

After observing the three legs on the floor for a while, she put one back.

Two would be better.

She could say it was a token of gratitude for helping the frontline camp repel an attack of large spiders. Giving one leg was normal, two was reasonable, but three would be astonishing—a reward for a tremendous help.

Next, she opened Brother Peng’s chat box and sent him a photo of the spider legs on the floor.

[Brother Peng, do you have a knife for opening shells?] Ye Nai was genuinely seeking help, as she only had a kitchen knife for daily use, which couldn’t cut through the thick shells of the giant spider legs to reach the meat.

[You’re back?] Brother Peng replied instantly, [Where did you get that?!]

[Yeah, just finished cleaning up after getting home. It’s a trophy from helping the frontline camp repel a wave of giant spider attacks.]

[Well, well, your trip sounded quite thrilling.] Brother Peng, holding his phone and smiling, looked at the two legs and had already thought of dozens of ways to cook them. [A knife can’t cut through these shells, no knife can, you’ll need an axe or a Gold Element Awakener. Let me go borrow a new axe, I used the old one for something else, can’t use it for food.]

[Alright, I’ll check if any of the team captains are home.]

Ye Nai forwarded the photo to the team captains’ group, startling half of them.

[Yo, Xiao Yezi is back, long time no see, good you’re back. We were just talking yesterday about where you’d run off to, wondering if we’d bump into you in the Secret Realm.]

[Long time no see, long time no see, good to be back, just finished showering at home. Are there only a few people today?]

[Yeah, end of the year, lots of tasks. Half the people are here because a few returned in the last couple of days.]

[So, are you coming to eat? I’ve already asked Brother Peng, he’s gone to borrow an axe.]

[Eat, of course, we’ll eat. I’ll bring out some wine.]

[Then I’ll ask Brother Peng to add a few more dishes.]

[Sure, if you want to eat something else, just tell Brother Peng.]

[Where did you get such a huge spider leg?]

[Ha, just happened to help out when a frontline camp was under siege by a giant spider. Otherwise, we would’ve had to abandon the camp and retreat.]

[Wow, was the battle that intense?]

[It was frightening, look at this leg, it’s taller than me, the whole spider is like a tank.]

[I see, with so few people at the frontline camp, it must have been tough driving back the giant spider’s attack.]

Only those who have faced the siege of mutant plants and mutant beasts know how hard it is; nobody suspected that Ye Nai was hiding anything.

It took Brother Peng an hour to get back to Ye Nai, saying he had borrowed an axe capable of cutting through giant spider legs from the military canteen, where they have such axes for processing ingredients, unlike the others, which were weapons rather than culinary tools.

[I used to have one myself, but giant spiders are tough to handle, you wouldn’t actively provoke one unless you had to. That axe ended up being used as a weapon instead of a kitchen tool.]

[Hmm, hearing you say that, should I also be prepared with one? Not for cutting spider legs, but it would be handy for chopping bones. I saw an enormous, bison-like herbivorous mutant beast. I think ordinary bone-cutting knives wouldn’t stand a chance with those bones.]

[Exactly, that’s a good idea. You can buy such an axe from the Awakener’s mall. This kind of specialized weapon can’t be made by a street blacksmith; you can also have it customized if you have any special requirements. Plus, buy a commercial-sized stockpot; if you’re really going to stew those bones, you need a pot big enough to fit them.]

[Hold on, let me start my computer.]

[Don’t rush, first bring the ingredients over here, try out the weight of the axe to see if it feels right, then you can browse the website at your leisure.]

[Right, right, I’m heading out now.]
