Evolution begins with an ant colony

Chapter 233: [Bonus chapter] You Have No Choice

"I swear, this was supposed to be an easy task, but this human is making it take forever. Do they all have this terrible amount of stamina? How have they survived in this world this long?" Hiandra added, her tone a mixture of frustration and anger as she folded her hands.

Kazor, seeing Hiandra lose her cool, couldn’t help but chuckle as he said, "You usually don’t get worked up like this. That frustrated face of yours is just priceless." Kazor teased as he then let out a huge laugh while using both arms to hold his stomach.

Kazor continued to laugh heartily, the sound echoing through the forest. "I guess you’ve got some serious anger management issues, Hiandra," he remarked, teasingly twirling a strand of his fur.

Hiandra, her ears slightly twitching in irritation, replied, "Oh, please! I’m still better off than you, and I don’t flare up that often. You’re the one who can’t resist picking fights." She crossed her arms, her tail flicking impatiently.

Kazor grinned mischievously, "Well, it’s more entertaining this way, isn’t it?" He playfully nudged Hiandra, evoking an annoyed glare from her.

Hestria, walking closely behind the chatting duo, couldn’t help but muse over the situation. "Seems that even though they are monsters, they are intelligent creatures. Can’t believe we actually took some of their lives," she thought, a hint of guilt clouding her expression.

Finally arriving at the walls of the ant city, the guards swung the doors open, and Hiandra and Kazor took their steps in. Hestria, slightly hesitant, decided to follow behind them. Her eyes widened with shock at what she saw next: the ant city revealed itself in all its splendor. Cobblestone streets led the way through advanced stone and wooden buildings, bustling with life.

Kingins and evolved ants went about their daily lives, while stalls and shops filled the place. Children ran from place to place, enjoying themselves, and adults shared drinks in the bars, laughing and engaging in conversations. It was just as welcoming and heartwarming as the home she and the other magic knights had wanted to protect.

Seeing all of this, she couldn’t help but muse, "Are these really monsters?" Except for the fact that some of them have rather pale skin, and some of them have antennae, they act just like regular people.

Seeing that Kazor and Hiandra were starting to get a bit far away from her, she quickly picked up her pace and followed behind them.

As Hestria caught the scent of the enticing food wafting through the ant city, she marveled at the advanced structures that surrounded her. The cobblestone streets led them to the imposing ant castle, where Kazor and Hiandra approached the guards with a respectful request to see Akun.

Kazor’s voice echoed through the grand entrance, "Permission to enter. We’ve brought the human to the castle, just as our liege instructed." Their eyes collectively shifted towards Hestria as he made the statement.

The Kingin guard, standing with a stoic demeanor, responded, "Very well, you are permitted to enter." The massive gates creaked open, revealing the intricate details of their advanced design, leaving Hestria in awe of their craftsmanship.

Inwardly, Hestria mused, "I still don’t know exactly what is going on, but I feel like the things that are about to unfold could very well determine the fate of my country."

After walking through the halls of the ant castle, Kazor and Hiandra finally arrived before the grand doors of the throne room. Standing before the guards, they spoke up at the same time, saying, "Permission to enter, my liege." Their tone slightly caught Hestria off guard, knowing that whoever she was about to meet beyond these grand doors would unmistakably be the ruler of these lands.

As the doors swung open, the trio took in the amazing sight before them.

The throne room gave off an air of royalty with its high-vaulted ceilings designed with beautiful carvings. Majestic pillars, carved with statues of mythical creatures, line the large chamber. The throne where Akun sat, was elevated on a couple of stairs, commands attention with its amazing design and imposing presence.

The throne room’s many windows bathes the room in natural light, especially from the direction behind the throne, where the sunlight pours in, casting a warm glow upon the fancy art pieces that could be found on the walls.

The delicate play of light and shadow properly captures the detailed craftsmanship of the room, from the polished stone floor to the meticulously carved reliefs that tell tales of bygone eras. @@novelbin@@

The overall ambiance is one of magnificence and authority, the sunlight serving as a symbolic element, casting its radiance upon the ruler on the throne.

Hestria’s eyes widened as she gazed at who sat on the throne. It was the same man she saw Lord Xalender call his master, it was Akun. Inwardly, she mused, "I don’t understand. What is this god doing here as the ruler of these monsters?"

Hestria mused further as she followed Kazor and Hiandra into the throne room. "Now that I think about it, how is a god in the mortal plane? Are they allowed to do that? I thought the whole reason the name of this place was the ’godforsaken’ forest was because they were cursed and abandoned by the gods. So, what is one doing as a ruler here?"

As they entered the throne room, after walking up towards the throne, Kazor and Hiandra gracefully bowed before the figure seated on the grand throne. Their movements were graceful and respectful, showing a customary gesture in the presence of their ruler, Akun.

Hestria, feeling the weight of the moment, swiftly joined them, mirroring the respectful bow as she tried to understand the dynamics of this unfamiliar realm. The atmosphere in the room held a mixture of reverence and familiarity, making Hestria thought on the relationship between these diverse beings.

As they knelt down, Kazor and Hiandra’s voices echoed as they both said, "We pay respects to our liege." They bowed their heads, not daring to look at the esteemed figure of their ruler.

All of their actions only served to make Hestria feel even more pressured, beads of sweat slowly streaming down her face, indicating her discomfort and unease with the unfolding situation.

Akun’s voice then echoed as he said, "You both may rise." Listening to his command, Kazor and Hiandra replied, "Thank you, my liege," and then slowly rose to their feet.

Observing this, Hestria thought that she should stand up too, not wanting to be an oddball in this situation.
