Chapter 809: Chapter 809: Discovering Skeletons and Corpses
Soon, Mr. Cheney’s driver had delivered Lilac Serval to the hotel.
All the way, she hadn’t rested much, with her heart in her throat, unable to settle down.
Her fingers were tingling with soreness and pain, and she furrowed her brows slightly, rubbing her temples.
The rain roared down like a dense net, overwhelming and leaving her breathless.
Upon entering the room, she brewed herself a cup of black tea and kept calling Sylvan Cheney.
She didn’t know how many times she had called, but finally, around 9:30, she got through.
“Mr. Cheney.”
“Hmm.”
The voice on the other end was tired and dull; it was deep as usual, but his exhaustion was clearly audible.
Even, this fatigue was mixed with weakness and a sense of helplessness.
“Where are you? Have you found Miss Yale and Yolanda Fern?” Lilac Serval asked anxiously, sensing something was off in Sylvan Cheney’s tone.
“Still searching.”
“Give me the address; I want to help. Charles Mcintosh was reprimanded by Elder Childe and is in the hospital, and I have safely sent Chale Cheney home, so don’t worry about him.”
“You don’t need to come, this area is too complicated, and the rainfall is heavy.”
Despite the emergency, Sylvan Cheney maintained his composure and clear thinking.
Lilac Serval heard the sound of rain through the phone and knew it was pouring outside.
“Mr. Cheney, do you need me to call more people over?”
“I’m already on it, just keep Chale Cheney safe.”
“I will,” Lilac Serval nodded, “Mr. Cheney, please be careful yourself. There might be snakes and insects in the woods, and landslides could also happen, you must be careful.”
“Hmm.”
“Mr. Cheney, since Yolanda Fern took Miss Yale with her, they can’t have gone far, could they be hiding in some cave or bushes?” Lilac Serval speculated.
Either answer was possible.
Yolanda Fern was reckless with her own life, and even less likely to care about Jasmine Yale’s.
Lilac Serval even suspected…
She discarded the terrifying thought. It wasn’t something she should be contemplating; Jasmine Yale had to return safely.
“I understand,” Sylvan Cheney said flatly.
“Then, Mr. Cheney, I won’t disturb you anymore.”
After hanging up the phone, Lilac Serval sat on the sofa, hugging her knees.
The black tea emitted wafts of fragrance, tinged with a hint of bitterness.
Lilac Serval raised her hand to take a sip from the cup.
The warm, bitter taste spread little by little on the tip of her tongue, filling her entire palate.
With a frown, Lilac Serval thought, Yolanda Fern had been hiding outside these days without being found by Sylvan Cheney, likely because she found a very good hiding place in the mountains.
And this hiding place was neither too close nor too far from the kindergarten and was not easy to detect.
Now, she must be hiding there with Jasmine Yale.
She knew it was inevitable that Sylvan Cheney would find them; even if the hiding spot was extremely well-concealed, it would certainly take time.
During this time, no one could guarantee there wouldn’t be accidents.
Lilac Serval knew Sylvan Cheney was smart and had surely considered this.
Now, the crucial thing was… how to search and where to search.
Lilac Serval had experience with outdoor exploration; she knew the forests and slopes hid countless caves, big and small.
Some caves were on the cliffs, exceptionally difficult to locate.
As a result, it was common to find bones and corpses in those caves.
At this thought, Lilac Serval’s eyes revealed a dark fear.
Jasmine Yale was not like her. She grew up in training grounds, skilled and physically strong, readily surviving in the wilderness.
But Jasmine Yale was different.
