Chen Ying caught up on some sleep and woke up just as it was getting dark.

Mendun'er had already descended from the tree and started self-serve mode.

Seeing Chen Ying come over, it gloomily placed its head on his legs and scraped his hand with a bear paw, signaling for a scratch.

Unexpectedly, grandma Mendun'er took a liking to Grandpa Ke, which made the center's staff both happy and frustrated.

Happy because it meant another addition to the center's rich gene pool.

Frustrated because the young cats were useless, and when it really mattered, grandpa had to step in.

They arranged for Mendun'er to stay in the room next to Keke's to get acquainted first.

The mature and stable Grandpa Ke showed little interest in this little missy, and since it wasn't mating season, Mendun'er's allure was even less than bamboo's to him.

But Mendun'er was different; seeing Grandpa Ke's handsome appearance, his brown fur, completely unlike any male bear she had met, her eyes widened, and she lay by the iron bars with a silly smile.

Mendun'er decided not to leave and instead wait for the arrival of the warm spring next year.

"I will give birth to the most beautiful, strongest baby!"

Mendun'er's gaze lingered on Keke, making the aloof Grandpa Ke uncomfortable; he grabbed some bamboo, climbed onto the Big Baby throne, and started showing off with his back turned to Mendun'er.

"Ah, even his back is so attractive; so handsome!"

Chen Ying felt that if he stayed any longer, he might harbor a desire to kill a bear.

"Mendun'er really likes Keke, and now's not the best time for mating. You guys just handle it for now, and if the timing is right for them both, it would be better to get it over with earlier. This grandma is too much of a bother."

The staff responsible for taking care of Mendun'er adored the bear when it wasn't throwing tantrums. They patted their chest and guaranteed they would fulfill Mendun'er's wishes.

Mendun'er was a wild bear, and Keke was a captive bear.

Logically, they should go to the release area and naturally mate there.

But Keke's personality was aloof and cold, with a history of violent incidents involving female bears. After discussing with the leaders and keepers of the center, they decided to maintain the status quo. As long as Mendun'er didn't insist on leaving, they would wait until after mating to let her go back to the wild to give birth.

Seeing that grandma Mendun'er finally had someone in mind, Chen Ying watched for a couple of days to make sure there were no issues, then packed up his things and headed back home.

Day by day, like firefighters, there was never a moment of peace.

Returning to the mountain rescue station, I finally felt the gentle passage of peaceful times.

Leopard Sister fetched Little Sen a T-shirt to use as scrubs for a change of clothes, and she also made sure to supervise him cleaning and drying them daily.

When Leo saw Leopard Sister wearing clothes, he remembered his buddies had clothes and insisted on wearing some too.

There was no precedent for dressing pandas up in clothes, and if he really did, Little Sen was sure to be fired on the spot.

Leo was a bear with a big temper, and seeing that Little Sen wouldn't listen to him, he'd throw little tantrums every day, which included but were not limited to clinging to legs, asking for piggyback rides, and demanding to be hand-fed.

Even his mother, Jiaojiao, couldn't stand it anymore and slapped him onto the platform, making him roll several times.

Dazed by the slap, Leo quickly snapped back to his senses and started causing a ruckus, hopping around like a little dog.

Chen Ying was originally sunbathing and napping on the second-floor balcony, but hearing its constant barking, he stuck his head out to look and decided not to partake in the daily amusement of "child spanking for no good reason."

Little Sen was staring at his phone while keeping an eye on the panda family of three.

"Brother Ying, look at the group chat. Everyone's talking about job transfers."

After October 1st, the rescue station officially transitioned into a protection station.
