Chapter 761: Chapter 761: Strange Situation_1

Purple Summers silently shed tears.

Alexander Summers picked her up and placed her on the sofa, then turned around to fetch a tissue to wipe the tears from her face.

But the tears seemed to be endless, no matter how he wiped, they wouldn’t stop. @@novelbin@@

Alexander then relented, holding her in his arms and gently stroking her trembling back.

“Why did you want to kill them?” Purple Summers looked at Alexander blankly, her voice hoarse as she asked, “Was it to silence them? By having Jade Carlson replace the medicine Nathaniel Summers had prepared, was it to kill me?”

The words floated from her tongue as if someone else had spoken them.

...

Even now, she still couldn’t believe it—how could Alexander want to kill her?

Alexander remained silent for a long moment before saying, “Listen to me explain.”

“…Okay, you explain.” Purple’s gaze was intensely fixed on him, like she was watching the last sliver of light in the sky before the sun set, as if in the blink of an eye, that light would disappear.

“Alexander, explain it to me.” She clutched his hand tightly, holding on as if it were a lifeline, “Someone is framing you, aren’t they? Those photos in the basement are fake, it’s someone else’s setup, right?”

She held out hope for his denial, yet Alexander was cruel in his response, “Those photos are real. I’ve loved you for a long time. I established myself in Pearlpoint City and originally planned to find you, but then Damian Howard had an accident, and I couldn’t get away. By the time things stabilized, you had already married Nathaniel.”

Purple was stunned, “And then… you started to target Nathaniel?”

As his past was uncovered, Alexander’s eyes didn’t waver. He wasn’t panicked, but instead, he felt an unexpected calm. Maybe deep down, he knew that this day would inevitably come.

“At first, I didn’t think much of it, just simply couldn’t stand the sight of him and wanted to cause him some trouble.”

Alexander lightly pursed his lips, speaking in an indifferent tone, not believing there was anything wrong with his actions.

“I was jealous of him,” Alexander said. “I arranged for Jade to seduce him, but he didn’t fall for it. Coincidentally, a renowned hypnosis master had returned from abroad at that time, and I thought if I could hypnotize Nathaniel into falling in love with Jade, it would be quite interesting. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out after several attempts. Making someone fall in love with another person is much harder than I thought. The hypnosis master had to settle for less, making him obsessed with Jade’s body. The final result was still satisfying to me; he truly couldn’t stay away from Jade.”

Nathaniel, from that moment on, lost confidence in himself in front of Suzanne. He sought solace in Jade, only with her did he feel like a man.

Purple reflected on those times.

Back then, Nathaniel was listless and dispirited; she thought it was due to the company’s cash flow issues but didn’t realize it was because of this.

She felt dazed, as if things had taken a weird turn.

Even though she and Nathaniel were now strangers, at least at that time, she had feelings for Nathaniel and expectations for their marriage.

If someone hurt her husband and destroyed her marriage, what should she do?

…What would any woman do?

“You shouldn’t have done this…” Purple murmured, her voice hoarse, “You’re brothers, no matter what, you shouldn’t have done this.”

“He was too greedy,” a glint of coldness flashed in Alexander’s eyes. “He couldn’t stay away from Jade yet couldn’t bear to part with you, so he made Jade slip something into your drink, which is why I switched the medicine.”

Purple asked, “What did you switch it with?”

Alexander pressed his lips together, his expression inscrutable and seemingly filled with sorrow. After a long silence, he said to her, “Purple, I’m sorry.”

Purple’s breath tightened.

The answer she wanted wasn’t this “I’m sorry”!

“You killed me?” Her blood ran cold, chilling her entire body, “Did you arrange for the mage and the soul artifact in advance, waiting for me to die, so you could attend to my remains?!”
