Chapter 805: Chapter 805: Shutdown_1

After all, it was something she had never experienced, and there was bound to be some nervousness, but compared to the suffering of the patient, her own fear and tension seemed trivial.

Purple Summers was admitted to the hospital the next day for a full body check-up, which included blood tests, chest x-ray, Electrocardiogram, B-ultrasound, and more.

Young and fit from occasional kickboxing sessions with Aria Jackson at the gym, she was in good health, and the examination results showed no problems. Following that, she had her blood drawn for self-donation and barely felt a thing.

After being admitted to the hospital and undergoing various examinations, with doctors and nurses coming in and out, Purple didn’t call home again.

A few days later, she started receiving injections to stimulate the production of hematopoietic stem cells—two shots a day for five consecutive days. It was said that some people find these injections particularly uncomfortable, while others hardly feel them, depending on their physical constitution.

By the last day of injections, Purple felt dizzy and sleepy, with a sour and swollen feeling in her spine. Although it wasn’t painful, it was certainly uncomfortable.

...

She lay in bed not wanting to move and drifted off to sleep. In the middle of the night, she heard her phone ringing.

“You’re having surgery tomorrow, right?” Alexander’s deep voice came through from the other side.

“Hmm,” Purple murmured, eyes closed, “Tomorrow they’ll extract bone marrow.”

Alexander felt concerned for her and asked, “Will it hurt a lot?”

Purple smiled, “Of course it will hurt if they just pulled it out, but I’ll be given an anesthetic, so I won’t feel anything then.”

“Don’t rush back after the surgery. Stay a bit longer, rest up, and once I’ve handled things here, I’ll come to Kingsley to pick you up,” Alexander said.

“When will you come to get me?”

There was no response on the other end of the phone for a long moment. Purple waited a while, her mind becoming hazier by the second, and in a half-sleep state, she heard Alexander say, “Purple, remember, don’t trust anyone; what you see with your eyes might not be the truth…”

Purple thought to herself: Is he worried about me being deceived by the Simonson Family?

Another noise sounded, distant and unclear, like fireworks from far away outside the window, or from the phone, or perhaps a sound heard in a dream.

“Hello… Alexander…” Purple murmured, waiting with eyes closed for Alexander to respond. After a long wait, she finally fell asleep…

When she woke up the next morning, she found the call eerie.

Could it be that she had dreamt Alexander called her because she’d been thinking about it during the day?

There wasn’t time to dwell on it, for the doctor had already come in to take her to the surgery room…

Unsure if it was due to her unique physiology, but despite the anesthetic, Purple could still feel the pain when the needle pierced her skin. She instinctively clenched the blanket, and tears involuntarily streamed down her face.

The nurse immediately guided her to breathe deeply, and the latter half of the procedure went a bit better. After 300 milliliters of bone marrow blood were extracted, she was allowed to return to her room to rest.

Purple asked how it went, and the doctor, assuming she was a donor brought in by the Simonson Family, praised her courage and strength. He also mentioned that the bone marrow was abundant, and the hematopoietic activity was very good.

She smiled, relieved in her heart.

It was good to be able to help someone, after all. She didn’t travel such a long distance and undergo tests and blood draws for nothing.

The nurse wheeled her back to her room and instructed her not to move after the surgery, to lie flat as much as possible, and to get ample bed rest.

Purple thought: Even without your advice, I definitely wouldn’t move once I lie down.

Her body ached terribly, and once she lay down, she fell asleep.

When she woke up, it was already in the afternoon. Perhaps due to the residual effects of the drugs, she didn’t feel hungry, just a great sense of relief as if she had accomplished a task.

Purple wanted to call Alexander to tell him she had finished the surgery.

But when she dialed the number, a message indicated that his phone was turned off, and the call couldn’t go through.
