From Beast Abilities to Sect Grand Master

Chapter 219 Chaos

Before Lin Fan could ask any further, the disciple died from his injuries.

He looked up and saw pillars of smoke, screams for help, and children crying in the distance.

Things weren't going very well in Hong Feng City.

He had to figure out what the Nether Devouring Soul Array was all about quickly.

Maybe Daoist Master Lee would know a thing or two about the array, he thought.

By now, the disciples of the Lady Saint around the Sima Family mansion had been finished off by him and Jian Xin.

Lin Fan went back inside the mansion.

Sima Liang and his family were now in their ancestor's hall, which had a formation array to protect themselves.

"Lin Fan, are you all right?" Sima Liang came out and asked when he saw Lin Fan approaching the ancestor's hall.

"I'm fine. Sima Liang, stay here and be on alert while I go and check on Ho Ming."

Seeing that Sima Liang and his family were taken care of, Lin Fan decided to make his way to the temple to check on Ho Ming, Ho Jie, and Daoist Master Lee.

"Wait for me," Jian Xin called out to Lin Fan as he followed behind him.

"Why are you following me?" Lin Fan asked, as he wasn't sure what Jian Xin wanted.

Jian Xin shrugged and replied, "I have to make sure you stay alive so that I can repay you for saving my life."

Lin Fan thought for a moment and nodded at Jian Xin.

He certainly needed all the help he could get.

...

In one of the corners of the city, soldiers and disciples of the Lady Saint were battling each other.

Some of the disciples dressed in green robes were drawing scriptures on the ground.

"Stop them," the officer in charge shouted as he saw these prominently dressed disciples doing something.

Instinctively, he knew that it wasn't something good.

"Die! You crazy bitches!" Soldiers who were nearby tried to kill these disciples.

A disciple in a green robe turned to a group of men standing ten meters away and shouted, "What are you waiting for? Time to do your job!"

These men were fit and had scars all over their bodies, memorials they'd collected from their battles with the Hulu tribe.

The leader of the men glanced over at the men beside him.

They gave him a nod.

After so many years of defending the northern borders, what had they gotten in return?

Nothing but betrayal.

Anger at how the Emperor had killed their beloved General Tan Xiao Yao filled their hearts and minds.

The only thing on their minds was revenge.

"Protect the formation cultivators!" The leader of the men drew out his sword that was hidden in his cloth bundle and shouted.

The other men did the same and charged at the soldiers.

Being more experienced, they easily overcame the soldiers.

"You... you are soldiers from the north! Why are you fighting with these heretics? Have you forgotten about your loyalty to the nation?"

The officer in charge tried to talk some sense into Tan Xiao Yao's men.

Thud.

All he got in return was an arrow that shot through his neck.

Making him gasp for air with blood oozing out from his artery.

The next moment, a loud sound erupted in the air.

A beam of light shot into the air from the scriptures on the ground.

"One pillar completed and three more to go," one of the disciples in green robes said with a sinister smile.

When the officer in charge dropped dead onto the ground, his spirit, a faint translucent being that looked like him, floated into the air.

The spirit's face gave out an expression of agony as it tried to get away from the light pillar.

But it was futile as it couldn't do so.

Whoosh.

In an instant, the spirit got absorbed into the light pillar.

The disciple in green robes stretched out his hand and shouted, "Kill all of them! Let there be death to nourish the thousand ghost elixir!"

Hearing his words, the disciples got into a frenzy and fearlessly started their bloodbath.

The soldiers without their commanding officer were in disarray; fear was all they felt.

Some started to try to run away but couldn't do so.

They were outnumbered now.

Boom.

Another light pillar shot into the air in the distance.

"Two more to go," the disciple in green robes smirked as he saw the light pillar far away in another corner of the city.

...

"What was that?" Jian Xin looked at the light pillar and pondered.

Lin Fan figured it must have something to do with the Nether Devouring Soul Array.

He shouted at Jian Xin and said, "We better hurry."

When they turned into the street leading to the temple, it was filled with disciples of the Lady Saint.

They turned their heads at Lin Fan and Jian Xin when they saw them.

Lin Fan wasted no time and used his amulet to turn into an Ember Moose.

He charged into the disciples with the antlers, sweeping them onto the ground with them.

A path cleared up in the middle of the street and Jian Xin quickly ran through it.

Lin Fan turned back into human form and picked off the remaining survivors with his Peach Wood Sword.

Finally, when it was clear, Lin Fan knocked on the gate that was heavily barricaded now.

"I'm Guo He Ru, back from visiting the Governor and Sima Liang," Lin Fan said.

Ho Ming and Ho Jie were confused for a moment when they heard Lin Fan address himself as Guo He Ru.

They thought that Lin Fan might be up to something, so they removed the barriers and opened the gate. Discover stories at My Virtual Library Empire

Before they could ask, Lin Fan pulled Jian Xin in and introduced him to them.

"This is Jian Xin, disciple of the Sword Saint. He was looking for Lin Fan who had killed his senior martial brother."

Ho Ming and Ho Jie smiled and nodded at Jian Xin.

"We don't have time. Where is Daoist Master Lee?" Lin Fan asked.

"He is inside, resting on his bed," Ho Jie replied.

Lin Fan quickly went inside the temple to consult with Daoist Master Lee.
