From Beast Abilities to Sect Grand Master

Daoist Master Lee was in a slumber on his bed.

The insulated room that was silent and away from the chaos outside seemed like a sanctuary.

"Daoist Master Lee," Lin Fan whispered next to Daoist Master Lee's ears and gently nudged him.

There was no response, so he tried again.

This time, Daoist Master Lee's eyes slowly opened.

"I'm sorry, but I need to find out about the Nether Devouring Soul Array," Lin Fan said.

"The Nether Devouring Soul Array?" Daoist Master Lee tried to sit up when he heard Lin Fan.

Lin Fan quickly helped him up.

Daoist Master Lee shook his head and started to brief Lin Fan on the Nether Devouring Soul Array.

"It's an array that would make those inside it go into a bloodlust, losing their minds and killing each other.

"Whoever dies inside the array would have their souls devoured by it.

"The souls would then be used to make something like the Thousand Ghost Elixir.

"Ghost Cultivators with the Thousand Ghost Elixir can separate their souls from their bodies and take over anyone's body."

Lin Fan frowned at the bad news and asked, "I saw two light pillars in two corners of the city. Are they part of the Nether Devouring Soul Array? How do I destroy it?"

"Two light pillars?

"There is still a chance.

"Stop them before they finish setting up in the remaining two corners.

"For the two light pillars that are completed, you need to kill the formation array cultivator who's powering it to destroy the light pillars.

"Use the Eight Trigram Mirror to see who is the one."

Daoist Master Lee replied.

After speaking for so long, Daoist Master Lee closed his eyes again.

Lin Fan gently helped him to lie on the bed.

Now that he knew what was happening, he felt more secure.

He told Ho Ming, Ho Jie, and Jian Xin what he had heard from Daoist Master Lee.

They had two options.

One was that the four of them went on their way to try and destroy the four corners of the array.

But it would be too risky as they didn't know what to expect at the light pillars.

And Daoist Master Lee would be on his own.

So, they had to make a compromise.

Lin Fan and Ho Ming would go and destroy the two light pillars already up.

Jian Xin would go and try to stop the remaining two corners from being set up.

Being older and not as powerful, Ho Jie would stay and take care of Daoist Master Lee.

This was the best Lin Fan could come up with.

He was comfortable working with Ho Ming and wasn't familiar with Jian Xin.

His only hope was that the disciple of the so-called Sword Saint was good enough.

With everything planned, they got to action.

Lin Fan and Ho Ming went toward the light pillar that was nearest to their location.

Along the way, they had to fight with the disciples and remnants of Tan Xiao Yao's army.

It was relatively easier with Ho Ming's Thunderous Exploding Sword Technique.

The wide area damage from the technique helped a lot.

Lin Fan could also freely use his spears and hammers now that Jian Xin wasn't around.

He had avoided doing so, so that he wouldn't raise suspicion that he was Lin Fan with weapons that Lin Fan was well known for.

Finally, they arrived at where the light pillar was.

Lin Fan summoned the system's information panel to look at the status.

After killing off so many of the disciples and Tan Xiao Yao's men, he had gained 600 vengeance points.

He took out a Heavenly Rejuvenate pill and swallowed it.

Immediately, his Qi and energy were replenished.

Ho Ming also took out some pills to recover his Qi and energy.

"Get them!" one of the disciples in green robes shouted.

Immediately, Lin Fan and Ho Ming were swamped by disciples and remnants of Tan Xiao Yao's army.

Boom.

Ho Ming thrust his sword at the horde coming at them, and the ground exploded.

Causing many disciples to die or be wounded with broken limbs.

Soon after, the spirits of the dead appeared and were sucked into the light pillar.

It was the first time they witnessed it; Lin Fan and Ho Ming were surprised at what they saw.

The disciple started chanting to what was happening.

They behaved like a hivemind.

The chanting got them into a trance-like state, and it encouraged more disciples to come up and try to stop Lin Fan and Ho Ming.

"Go and destroy the formation array. I shall hold them off," Ho Ming shouted as he thrust his sword at the horde.

A twirling wind shot out of his sword, and it ripped the disciples apart into body pieces.

Boom.

Lin Fan used his Chain Leap ability and got through the opening Ho Ming had created for him.

The disciples tried to chase after him, but Ho Ming stopped them.

"There's no point for you to try and stop us. There's no way for you to destroy the formation array when it's up and running."

All the disciples in green robes said in unison.

One of them lunged at Lin Fan with his hands glowing in green.

[Ding!]

[Detected soul with malevolent intent incoming!]

[Terminate person with malevolent intent for 100 vengeance points.]

Lin Fan stowed the hammers in his hands and took out the Peach Wood Sword.

He injected his Qi into the Peach Wood Sword, and it glowed bright red.

When the disciple in green robe's hand came at him, he could see the man in green robe smirk.

Thinking that Lin Fan had no way to counter his technique to extract the soul.

Thud.

Lin Fan slashed the Peach Wood Sword at the glowing green hands.

The Peach Wood Sword severed the tentacles from the glowing green hands that were trying to get to Lin Fan's soul.
