Chapter 1445
Chapter 1445: 659 Loyalty_2 Chapter 1445: 659 Loyalty_2 Nancy reluctantly steps forward.
The Queen Consort, holding both of their hands, said “You’re both young ladies with no reason to harbor old grudges.
You’re close in age and it’d be good for you two to become friends.”
Princess Randa chuckled, “You’re right, aunty.
I’m a few years older than Nancy here; if she doesn’t mind, she could call me sister.
Being here with no relations, I’d be honoured to have a friend like Nancy.”
The Queen Consort looked at Nancy.
Nancy let out a disdainful humph through her nostrils, “I’m the only child of my mother.
You better not claim kinship randomly.”
“Nancy,” the Queen Consort warningly looked at her.
...
Nancy pressed her lips together, turning away stubbornly.
“His Highness Prince Brooklyn has arrived!”
With the announcement, Prince Brooklyn, clad in a white robe, entered.
The young man had strikingly handsome features, and an aura that was clean and noble as if he were the moon in the sky, to be admired from afar, but never profaned.
With his arrival, the female guests all sat up excitedly, even Nancy, who’d just had a look of indignation, seemed to be smitten.
A smile flickered at the corner of the Queen Consort’s eyes, and with a cold undertone, she said: “Provide a seat for the Prince.”
“Your Majesty, the Holy Master sends her best wishes and has a token of goodwill.”
Prince Brooklyn motioned for his men to bring in the presented treasure.
Four guards carried a black cloth-covered item into the room.
Prince Brooklyn gently lifted the cloth, revealing an object of shining beauty.
Gasps of awe filled the room.
It was a natural red coral tree that stood waist-high, beautiful beyond measure.
Even Randa, who’d seen many valuable treasures, was amazed.
The Queen Consort’s lips curved into deeper amusement, “The Holy Master surely knows her audience.
On my behalf, thank her and provide a seat for the Prince.”
Prince Brooklyn took his seat at the Queen Consort’s right-hand side.
“How has the Holy Master been doing recently?”
“I am grateful for your concern, Your Majesty.
The Holy Master is well.”
“That’s good news.
The Holy Master is the future of our country.
As long as she is well, all is well, and that’s my relief.”
A perfect picture of noble benevolence.
Only Randa sensed some hidden machinations.
Something was bound to happen today.
Sure enough, the Queen Consort’s glance fell subtly on her, making Randa grow tense.
“Speaking of which, Princess Randa has come here to secure peace between our nations.
Unfortunately, Jonathan’s luck hasn’t favored him.
But Prince Brooklyn is an excellent man and well-suited for the Princess.
When do you plan to hold the wedding?”
Nancy’s hand slipped and her wine cup fell to the floor.
Anger flared in her eyes as she glared at Randa.
Prince Brooklyn stood up and replied, “I have decided not to consider such matters until my father recovers.
I hope for your understanding, Your Majesty.”
“Such a filial son.
It’s a pity though, for Princess Randa is wasting her prime years.” The Queen Consort’s voice brimmed with regret.
Randa wondered, ‘What is the Queen Consort up to?
Would she kindly play matchmaker between Brooklyn and me?’
There must be a catch.
Nancy, with a smile, poured another glass of wine, “Princess Randa, I was wrong earlier.
Allow me to apologize.
You must drink this glass of wine; otherwise, it would mean you don’t forgive me.”
Randa stared at the wine glass in Nancy’s hand, her gaze solidifying.
Nancy made a distressing face, “Did Princess Randa just trick me then?
You’re a Princess, and I’ve overstepped my boundaries.”
“Watch your words, I’ll drink it if you want me to,” Randa took the wine glass and drained it in front of everyone.
The wine was fruity and light, not strong.
The delicious taste of the fruit lingered in her mouth.
Randa turned the cup upside down to show that she had indeed finished her drink.
Nancy gave her a bright smile, “Cheers to your honesty, sister!”
Nancy then raised her head and emptied her own cup.
Prince Brooklyn remained in his seat silently.
The Queen Consort glanced at him, “Prince, is there an issue with the food?”
Prince Brooklyn stood up and replied, “The food is excellent, but recently I have been struggling with my appetite.
I appreciate your concern, Your Majesty.”
“Health is important.
You must take care of yourself, Prince.
After the banquet, I shall send one of the National Doctors to your Imperial Lodge to check on your health.”
To outsiders, it was a touching display of motherly love and filial piety.
Randa rubbed her forehead, starting to feel a little tipsy.
The Queen Consort hastily said, “The Princess doesn’t seem to hold her liquor well.
Take her to rest.”
A maid stepped forward, helped Princess Randa up, and escorted her to the back room.
Randa knew there must have been something in that wine.
She had drunk fruit wine before and it had never made her drunk.
Randa thought to herself that the Queen Consort wouldn’t openly harm her.
She had to stay alert.
The maid helped her onto the bed, removed her shoes, and took off her crown.
What do you think?
