Chapter 602: The Unknown Continent [2]
Somewhere at the edge of the Feng Empire.
This area of the Feng Empire was a sight to behold, two different sides of nature colliding at one point. On one side was a dense forest, which gave off an ominous beastly aura. From the forest, one could hear the painful cries or the roars of different beasts.
On the other side of the raging and stormy forest was the calm and unperturbed sea that only moved with the current of the water and the flow of the wind.
In the middle of these two areas was a sand junction that joined the two different terrains. Right above this sandy area, the air churned with a flickering sound of fire. A flame appeared out of nowhere, opening a hole bigger than the height of an average person.
From the portal appeared three figures, two of whom seemed to be injured.
"Did we come to the wrong place?" Song Liu could not help but ask as she looked at the area around her.
Amon did not say anything; he just gave the captain a side glance before walking ahead. One of his arms was still empty, and the oily liquid was still dripping from the wound.
"There is nothing wrong with the destination. We are at the right place," the man signaled Song Liu to follow behind him and calmly explained. The portal closed behind them, but the butterfly never came out of it.
"The Space Burning Butterflies love to live between the boundaries of space and time. That's where they grow the fastest." Seeing the young woman looking back with curiosity, he explained.
Song Liu nodded before following behind the captain, who kept explaining anything she did not understand.
"There is something you should understand before anything else." Just then, Amon interjected in their interaction, his voice colder than before. "You must have realized that your value in our organization is not low."
"I used the last of my forces left in this country just to let you escape from the sect. If not for your usefulness to our purpose, I would have long turned you into one of my showpieces. Don't take this freedom for granted, or I can always go back on my decision."
Song Liu flinched under his gaze but met it head-on with a light nod.
"Brace yourself; you are going to feel a bit nauseous." Seeing Amon had no intentions of continuing speaking, the captain gave the girl a warning. Before she could understand what was happening, right under their feet, a huge circle carved with ancient-looking glyphs and characters appeared out of nowhere.
She looked ahead and saw Amon was standing in the middle of this circle, with his feet on a metallic disc that appeared to be rising from underneath the sand.
'This is!' her eyes widened, and the next second, the circle flashed a blinding light, swallowing them whole. As the light faded, everything appeared to be normal, but the disc on the ground was missing along with the people standing around it.
The sand submerged in the hole, and everything returned to its previous state.
On the other side of the world, deep in the forest that gave off a calm and serene feeling, free from the wildness of any beasts or cultivators, there were several beautiful sights and towering mountains that could captivate anyone with a single glance at them.
One of these mountains did not appear similar to the rest; it gave off a mysterious feeling. On one side of the mountain were two huge stone doors carved with intricate patterns. The sheer size of each of these doors was higher than a few dozen meters.
Before these doors was a huge circular platform that seemed to be made to welcome someone. Around the platform were a few stairs attached to it. The platform had the same carvings as the one on the array formation Amon had used to teleport.
Just when everything in the forest looked serene, a change appeared that disturbed this calmness.
The air above the platform began to shift, the letters carved on the stones started to flash as energy in the air gathered at a tremendous speed. The air and reality collapsed, as if a point in the middle of the air was sucking it in.
The next second, the air exploded before three figures appeared out of thin air and landed on the stone platform. With the appearance of these figures, reality went back to its previous state.
Amon looked at Song Liu, and seeing her calm appearance made his movement pause a little.
"Are we finally back here?" the captain muttered with a hint of longing in his voice. He raised his hand and removed the hood of the robes covering his head.
Song Liu saw the face of the man for the first time and took notice of it immediately. The man had long black hair tied in a ponytail that was hidden inside his robes. The middle-aged man's face showed the passage of time, and the calm expression on it, as if nothing could faze him, showed how experienced he was.
As if thinking of something, Song Liu looked at Amon. Indeed! As she had guessed, the man had also removed the mask covering his face.
And much to her shock, Amon was not a middle-aged man like his own captain, but he appeared to be very young, in his late twenties.
But she knew better than to believe his age. After all, if the pipes coming out of his arms were not an indication something was wrong with him, then nothing else was.
Amon had short black hair; his face appeared to be pale as if he lacked blood, which he technically did.
His eyes were lacking luster, but the pupils in them moved in a human-like manner without any pause or rigid movements.
Just from his appearance alone, no one could tell if there was something wrong with his body or not.
Amon, feeling her gaze, turned to look at her and spat, "We are not allowed to hide our appearance here. It's disrespectful towards the High Priestess! You two wait here, and I will be right back."
Without waiting for their response, Amon disappeared without leaving a trace.
What do you think?
