Chapter 1244 Part 2: Magic Lord Howard and Callen
Howard's expression was neutral, but he was shocked in his heart. He didn't expect the name to turn out to be Vincent Carey.
"What has that kid done this time?" he asked in his heart.
He quickly controlled his thoughts before asking, "Tell me, why do you want to meet him?"
"A respectable Magic Lord is going to meet a fresher of our organization. It feels suspicious to me," Howard decided to play along.
Callen squinted his eyes. He couldn't refute Howard's words because his reasoning was sound. A Magic Lord was going to meet a lower-level Wizard. Anyone would suspect it.
"I can't tell you the reason, since the Perry Family has been a part of the True Elements Society for so long. I hope you grant permission," Callen requested again.
Howard's heart shook this time. He thought something big had happened that he didn't know about. He was aware of the bad relationship between the Perry Family and Vincent Carey.
This old man insisted on seeing him, which was not good. All Callen needed to do was make simple eye contact to kill Vincent Carey. He wouldn't let that happen.
Callen was looking into his eyes. Howard met his gaze as well.
"I can't allow that. Your family has been involved in a conspiracy against me. They want to overthrow me. Do you think I would just let you do whatever you want?" Howard asked in a serious tone.
Callen's expression turned ugly. He realized what this was about. He thought Howard suspected some kind of conspiracy. It was true that the Perry Family was part of the Aristocratic Faction and they were up against Howard and his supporters.
But he had just come here alone to find a clue about his grandson's killer. He thought that as long as he captured that kid named Vincent Carey, he would get some answers.
But right now, it seems impossible. He couldn't reveal the real reason. He didn't want others to know about the demise of his grandson yet.
"Are you sure?"
"Is this your final decision?" Callen asked.
"It's my final decision. Old man, you can leave," Howard said in a cold tone.
"Harumph," Callen snorted before leaving.
When he was completely gone from the place, Howard didn't leave. He waited for another ten minutes or so to confirm.
Seeing that old man was not planning to return, he sighed inwardly. Then he thought of Vincent Carey. He immediately contacted Elder Paul and asked him to bring Vincent Carey to his office ASAP.
Then he summoned Elder Stella as well. The appearance of the Perry Family Magic Lord had startled him. He wanted to know what they were up to.
On the other hand, Callen was going back with a frustrated expression. Though he didn't capture that kid, he was able to confirm one thing.
Head Howard Mason has a way to confirm his presence. His eyes flickered. Not many Wizard Organizations had that capability. It's also one of the reasons why the Magic Lords are considered a huge powerhouse.
They can move freely across the country. If the Perry Family decided to confront him in the future, then they would have to take these things into consideration.
...
From MC's Perspective:
I was just attending the last lecture when suddenly, the lecturer turned toward me.
"Vincent Carey, Elder Paul summoned you," he said.
Hearing that, I was surprised. Why did he want to see me in the middle of class? My classmates turned toward me.
I smiled at them before leaving.
Shortly afterwards,
I reached Elder Paul Lin's cabin. The door was unlocked, so I walked in. Then I saw him seated behind the desk.
Elder Paul Lin didn't smile upon seeing me; rather, he was trying to see through me. His gaze was deep.
"Elder, what happened?" I asked.
"Head Howard has summoned you. Let's go and see him." After saying that, Paul Lin stood up from his seat.
I raised my eyebrows in surprise. Maybe it's related to the Pinewood Forest. So I didn't ask any questions. We then left the Special Mage Department.
Elder Paul Lin then took me to the deepest area of the True Elements Society. I guessed it was my second time. In a blink of an eye, we crossed several unauthorized and dangerous areas.
Tud!
Then we landed in front of a building. Elder Paul Lin walked into the building, and I followed him from behind. We entered the huge hallways before reaching the end of the corridor.
Crea!
The door opened automatically.
We walked in. Then I saw someone else seated in front of Head Howard. The person was none other than Elder Stella.
Our arrival made them turn toward us. I saw Head Howard and Elder Stella looking at me with the same deep gaze.
"What's going on?" I asked myself the same question.
Why did I feel different? It wasn't related to the Pinewood Forest, but something else.
"Take a seat," Howard said.
Hearing that, I sat in the middle, and Elder Paul sat to the right of me.
"Vincent, it's good to see you again," Howard said with a smile.
"I guess Elder Paul has already told you about the Pinewood Forest. It's a dangerous place even for me to explore. But I'm sure one day we can get the answers," he added.
"It's fine, Head Howard. I'm not thinking about it anymore," I replied.
Howard smiled and said, "Good. I'm already looking for the Gravity Magic Resources through my contacts. I'll get them for you soon."
"But this time I asked you to come here for a different reason. Did you have any conflict with the Perry Family recently?" he added. Enjoy new tales from My Virtual Library Empire@@novelbin@@
Hearing that, my heart set off storms. But I quickly controlled my outward expression. I didn't think it was enough to fool them. I needed to come up with answers quickly.
So, I made up my mind to talk about the Perry Family trip only. If they did some digging, then they could verify the information.
What do you think?
