Chapter 1602: Final straw
"Isn't that too much?" Jiang Fenhua knew that his elder sisters were too selfish but he never knew that those two would stoop so low.
Were they not afraid that Jiang Mingzhu's married life would become a mess due to their selfish actions?
Master Deng was a kind mer and thus he was willing to lower his head and live a life of poverty with Jiang Mingzhu but that was because the two were newly married and had no kids.
In case the two of them had children, wouldn't Jiang Mingzhu and Master Deng fight every day?
Master Deng was extremely excited when he saw that someone understood him. He said, "Of course it is! It's not like they do not have money but they are not willing to take it out. If they truly were having trouble I would not have said a word but they clearly have no trouble at all."
He huffed and added, "I told your sister not to let them take advantage of her. But you know how your sister is right? She always tries her best to avoid trouble and quarrels which lead to the current situation."
"Fortunately, I know how to skimp and save. And my mother and sisters know what kind of life I am living so they send meat and eggs every now and then. They obviously send all those things for me but those things go inside the stomachs of brothers-in-law, your sisters and their children!"
"I am left hungry all the time! Never have I ever suffered like this before!"
Master Deng felt really upset. He married into the Jiang family just a few months ago but in just a couple of months, he had turned bitter.
Upon hearing his complaints, Jiang Fenhua pursed his lips. After a short pause, he could not help but say, "Brother Deng, why don't you …separate from the family?"
Master Deng was still speaking about how he had been wronged in the family when he heard Jiang Fenhua say that he should separate from the Jiang family.
He raised his head and looked at Jiang Fenhua in surprise and shock.
However, after a pause, he sighed and shook his head. "Your sister will never agree," he said, knowing what kind of person Jiang Mingzhu was. Because of her background, she had always been insecure in front of the Jiang family.
Master Deng was certain that Jiang Mingzhu would not leave the Jiang family unless she was kicked out.
Jiang Fenhua hesitated and then said in a low voice, "Brother Deng, it is true that my sister might not agree. But now she is not alone, she is married to you which means that she needs to think of you as well. Maybe if you put in some effort… you might be able to separate from the family."
"…But what then? What should we do after that? I don't think that your mother will let us have any share in the property," Master Deng also wanted to separate from the family but he could not as he knew that Mother Jiang was a petty woman.
She would certainly not let them take anything with them, much less a house where they could live.
In fact, Mother Jiang might try to make them suffer such that they would be as downtrodden as possible. And with his wife being a woman of integrity and honour she might not agree to live with her in-laws.
Jiang Fenhua wanted to tell Master Deng that he would let him join in the business of mushroom farming but stopped himself in time.
Master Deng and his family shared good relationships with some traders and even though Master Deng was not educated, he was a sharp-minded person.
He could be a good partner.
Given how honest Jiang Mingzhu was, she might blurt out the truth in front of Mother Jiang. If that happened, then he would find himself in another round of trouble.
"I can help you and Sister Mingzhu," Jiang Fenhua smiled and suggested however he did not go into the details and let Master Deng come up with his own ideas. "If you separate from the family then I will make sure that you do not have to stay on the street."
Master Deng felt touched when he heard Jiang Fenhua say that he would take care of him and his wife. However, he did not want to become a burden on Jiang Fenhua which was why he said to him, "I will think about it."
Jiang Fenhua knew that Master Deng was not convinced and did not force him.
The two mers finished their drinks and then stood up from their chairs. Before leaving Jiang Fenhua asked Master Deng to look for him in the village if something happened.
Master Deng agreed and did not say much before taking his leave.
He was certain in his heart that he wouldn't trouble Jiang Fenhua and would instead find a way to deal with this problem.
Jiang Fenhua watched his brother-in-law leave and shook his head helplessly before climbing in the carriage which drove away from the city to the village.
Master Deng was determined to not trouble Jiang Fenhua but his determination faltered the very next morning.
Early in the morning, Master Deng had not even gotten a chance to wake up properly when he found out that the children of his brothers-in-law were making a ruckus in his courtyard.
Turned out that his brothers-in-law were worried that they would not get a hearty breakfast again, so they sent their children to his courtyard to keep an eye!
But that was not all.
Today it was Brother Xiu's turn to clean the laundry and Brother Sang's turn to mop the house.
But neither of them got up from their beds until the sun was shining on their butts and when they woke up they started making excuses by saying that their heads and waists were hurting.
Master Deng finally had enough!
What do you think?
