Chapter 138
Elixir’s body began to dissolve like paint, dripping down as he could not hide his sense of defeat.
"Yes. If forgiveness is out of the question, there’s only one way to break the chains, isn’t there? Clever. You chose to destroy me, an entity both unified with and yet separate from Lin, merely to undo the seal."
Rumble!
Alongside Elixir, the chains surrounding Lin’s heart could no longer maintain the seal and began to corrode rapidly.
One by one, the chains, now rusted and red, fell away.
The ‘X’ mark on Elixir’s face melted, revealing his expression of disappointment.
"I warned you, didn’t I? I’m still a part of Lin—nothing but an outer shell, tainted by anger and pain. The emotions I showed you were just fragments of his true feelings. My role is to keep his true self under lock. Once I’m gone and the real Lin is freed, you won’t be able to handle it."
Clink, clink, clink!
The chains of the seal cascaded down like a waterfall, emitting a harsh metallic sound.
The dreadful noise stirred unease among those present.
Just as Elixir had said, they dreaded to think what would happen once all those chains were broken.
Yet, no one could think of a way to stop it.
They merely stared at the endless fall of chains.
Surprisingly, when all the chains were gone, the inside of the sphere was a blank, white void.
Lucy saw someone curled up within it.
"Lin…!"
It was Lin’s true self.
Seeing Lin staring blankly at the floor with lifeless eyes brought a heavy ache to Lucy’s chest.
"What will you do with this anger that has no place to go?!"@@novelbin@@
Elixir lamented loudly.
His body was collapsing at an accelerated pace.
The ‘X’ mark disappeared from what was left of Elixir’s form, now barely resembling a human figure.
What do you think?
