Chapter 48 Xiangliu
"It's fine…" Feng Shen said. He paused, looking at his personal servant with an assessing gaze:
"Anyway, you know how you've always wanted to explore the cultivation world? It's vast, complex, and filled with mysteries you can't even begin to imagine."
In his own words, Feng Shen was undoubtedly overhyping the cultivation world. To him, it was a playground to have fun in.
Yet, for his personal servant, the way he spoke about it was almost poetic, painting a picture of a grand adventure awaiting her.
In truth, Feng Shen had already decided her path for her. She didn't have a choice in this, but he wanted to offer her the illusion of one—it would make things smoother, he reasoned.
He needed her cooperation, and a hint of excitement in her eyes would make it easier to carry out his plan.
Yùn Yì sat up quickly, her eyes wide with excitement, a spark of curiosity lighting up her face.
"What does the Second Young Master mean?" she asked eagerly, her voice brimming with hope, as if she already had an inkling of what he intended.
That was exactly the reaction Feng Shen had hoped for.@@novelbin@@
Giving a faint smile, his expression neutral:
"What I mean," Feng Shen began slowly, as if weighing each word, "is that you may have an opportunity to step onto the path of cultivation and join me in the world you've always wanted to see."
These words hit Yùn Yì like a bag of bricks, her breath catching as her mind whirled with the possibilities.
She couldn't contain her excitement, nodding her head up and down like a jackhammer.
"R-Really? You mean it?" Yùn Yì stammered, barely able to believe her own luck.
Your adventure continues at My Virtual Library Empire
Here she was, on the brink of something beyond her wildest dreams, with the Second Young Master himself offering her a chance to not be a mortal and explore more of the cultivation world.
Feng Shen gave his personal servant a slight nod, crossing his arms as he studied her with a steady, calculating gaze. "Indeed," he said, his voice calm but firm:
"But be aware, the path ahead is riddled with pain and danger. Each step forward brings the risk of dea—"
"I don't care! Please, give me the privilege!" Yùn Yì's voice was desperate, filled with the yearning she could no longer contain.
She grasped the Second Young Master's shoulders, pushing herself up on her toes to meet his eyes with fierce determination. Her hands shook slightly, but her eyes were resolute.
Yùn Yì wanted this—no matter the pain, no matter the cost. She was done being helpless, an ordinary mortal, forever bound by her limitations.
She couldn't stand another day of watching from the sidelines, powerless to protect herself or aid the Second Young Master.
Yùn Yì wanted to break free, to become stronger and explore, no matter the consequences.
'Maybe then… I'll be worthy of the Second Young Master's affection. And we could… maybe even get married…' Her thoughts wandered, her cheeks warming up.
'After all, we held hands once… and that could mean… I might be pregnant!' She couldn't help but remember them holding hands.
Yùn Yì took a step back as her resolved solidified, her heart pounding. Now, more than ever, she was ready to endure any hardship, to face anything.
She would bear the pain, transform herself, and prove she was no mere personal servant. Her deepest wish was to one day stand by the Second Young Master's side as his equal.
This was her chance to reshape her fate. To shed her helplessness, to rise above the limitations of her mortal life.
And maybe, if fate was truly kind, Yùn Yì's dreams—those quiet, hopeful visions of a life shared with him—might one day be more than just fantasies.
Feng Shen grinned, baring his teeth as he turned to the sleeping Xiangliu. His gaze swept over it with a confident gleam in his golden eyes:
"Well then," he murmured, "let's make it happen."
This snake, formidable to most in the Upper Realm, was nothing more than a stepping stone to Feng Shen—a creature stuck in its weakest evolutionary stage.
He knew its habits, its vulnerabilities, and every advantage he held over it.
"say that agai—" Before Yùn Yì could finish, a gust of wind brushed past her, and in the blink of an eye, the Second Young Master was gone.
Her eyes widened in disbelief as she looked around, searching for any sign of where he had gone. It was as if he had vanished into thin air.
It was then that Yùn Yì instinctively glanced toward the Xiangliu.
Mere seconds later, Feng Shen appeared above the Xiangliu.
With a powerful stomp, he drove his foot down onto one of the snake's heads, crushing it into the ground.
The sheer force of the stomp sent a shockwave through the Xiangliu's body, causing the massive snake to stir violently.
Its two heads jerked as it was abruptly roused from its deep cultivation sleep.
"HISSSSSSSSS!!!!"
A deafening hiss resounded through the forest, the sound sharp and filled with fury.
The Xiangliu's eyes snapped open, revealing its glowing, slit red pupils. They glared with a dangerous, predatory gleam.
Without missing a beat, Feng Shen propelled himself back into the air, his feet coming down once more in a fluid motion.
"It seems I've awoken you!" He laughed. "Dont worry, you'll go back to bed soon."
This time, Feng Shen's foot met the second head, and with another heavy stomp, he drove it into the forest floor with equal force, his body acting as an extension of his will.
The Xiangliu's body jerked violently, its many heads swaying wildly as it began to fully wake from its slumber.
Despite still feeling the disorienting effects of being woken up so suddenly, its instincts kicked in immediately.
The Xiangliu began thrashing around in a frenzy, its long, powerful tail sweeping through the forest like a battering ram.
Trees were ripped from the ground with ease, their trunks snapping like twigs as the tail swung from side to side.
The ground shook with each impact, and the surrounding foliage was torn apart by the monstrous movements of the creature.
With a crazed smile on his face, Feng Shen descended from above once gain, his body a blur as he honed in on the snake's neck.
He reached out, grabbing onto the thick, scaly neck of one of the Xiangliu's heads, his fingers tightening around it with force.
The moment Feng Shen had a firm grip, he spun, using his momentum to whip the massive head around in a circle.
"HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!"
The Xiangliu let out a guttural hiss of pain as the sudden motion threw it off balance, its other head writhing in anger and confusion.
The monster's massive lurched, and it's frantic thrashing increased, though it was becoming harder for it to coordinate its movements with its other head disoriented.
"Is that really all you've got?" Feng Shen taunted, his voice dripping with mockery as he landed with effortless grace right in front of the monster.
His eyes locked onto the Xiangliu eyes, a smirk playing on his lips as he waited for its next move, unbothered.
"HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!"
Beyond enraged, the Xiangliu widened both its mouths and unleashed a torrent of molten venom, a searing blend of heat and poison that splashed across the ground, turning everything it touched into smoldering ruin.
To gain some much-needed distance.
After all, the snake was still reeling from the confusion, its senses disrupted as it struggled to return to a state of clarity and focus, making it vulnerable.
On the other hand, Yùn Yì, still feeling the remnants of exhaustion from her earlier ordeal, pushed herself harder as she distanced herself from the battle.
Her body protested with every movement, but she overpowered her physical limits.
The Second Young Master had acted so suddenly, and Yùn Yì hadn't expected him to engage with the Xiangliu.
'I have to find a safe spot!' Her thoughts raced as she sprinted, making sure she didn't have a tree fall on top of her.
Finding a large rock nearby, Yùn Yì ducked under it, her body dropping to the ground as she tried to catch her breath, now having a safe spot.
Not paying attention to where his personal servant was, Feng Shen crouched down.
Without hesitation, he let his hand touch the venomous lava, feeling the searing heat as it burned through his skin, rapidly exposing his bones.
"Hmm? This hurts like hell…" Feng Shen muttered to himself.
Yet, despite the excruciating pain, his forbidden bloodline stirred to life, slowly working to heal the damage, the process agonizingly slow.
'Well, I guess this will help make it stronger,' Feng Shen thought, a flicker of satisfaction in his mind.
He had been neglecting his forbidden bloodline for far too long, and now, more than ever, he wanted to start growing it.
"Alright, let's finish this," Feng Shen uttered, his eyes shifting away from his damaged hand and back to the snake.
Which seemed to be retreating, moving further away as if it instinctively recognized that it was outmatched.
"Uh~ come on... don't make me chase you."
What do you think?
