Heavens' Laughter

Chapter 95 Tower

Feng Shen stopped in place and his golden eyes darkened:@@novelbin@@

'Should I kill them all now? Should I let the blood of the innocent stain the earth, a river of crimson that flows across their lands? Make them all beg for mercy—begging for a release that will never come?'

Feng Shen's thoughts spiraled even more:

'Should I watch as they scream in agony, their bodies twisted and broken, their wills shattered like fragile glass beneath my heel?'

Feng Shen began laughing aloud.

'I could paint the entire Upper Realm red, drowning them in suffering, flooding every corner with the stench of despair. Each drop of blood, each tear, each sob… I could make them writhe in pain until their cries echo in the heavens!'

As that was happening…

"Why is the Second Young Master just standing still?" Yùn Yì asked, her voice filled with confusion as she turned to the woman sitting next to her.

A moment ago, she had been cheering for him, full of energy, and now… now he had suddenly come to a halt, unmoving.

Yùn Yì's brow furrowed as she tried to make sense of it. "Is he okay?" she added, concern edging into her tone.

Cai Xiu was silent for a couple of seconds:

"Master is fine. No need to worry. He must be coming up with a plan to dominate the Tower."

Cai Xiu smiled lightly, her unwavering faith in her Master clear.

There was no room for doubt in her mind.

After all, how could someone as powerful and capable as her Master be so weak-minded?

Cai Xiu was certain that whatever had caused him to pause was merely a moment of deep thought, not weakness.

To her, this was all part of his grand strategy—nothing more, nothing less.

"I see, I see!" Yùn Yì let out a small breath of relief, her tension easing as she nodded enthusiastically. "What was I thinking? Of course, the Second Young Master would be fine! He's simply thinking on a higher existence than us!"

She beamed with newfound confidence, her worries melting away.

Up where the instructors were…

"Shit…" Mei Xue muttered under her breath, her stomach churning with unease. She was beyond worried—she was terrified.

Her gaze had locked onto student Feng Shen, and it was then she noticed it: those eyes.

Those cold, golden eyes that had once made her tremble with fear, the same empty, emotionless gaze that now seemed to darken with a dangerous intent.

It was as though the very life had been drained from them, leaving behind nothing but a chilling void.

The sight sent a cold shiver down Mei Xue's spine, and she instinctively knew that something bad was about to happen.

"What is that brat doing!? Why is he not moving!?" Zhao Rui roared, slamming his hand down in frustration, his fist smashing through his tea cup, sending shards of porcelain scattering across the table.

His irritation was palpable, his face contorted with anger.

This was their secret weapon, their ace in the hole, and he was stalling.

"Does student Feng Shen have cold feet in front of a crowd!?" Zhao Rui spat, his voice rising with every passing second.

As he watched the other students climbing the tower, floor after floor, racing toward the top, his annoyance deepened.

The clock was ticking, and student Feng Shen's lack of action felt like a slap in the face to the Soaring Academy.

"Calm down…" Yuan Bo said in a low, steady voice, his gaze unwavering as he placed a calming hand on his peer Zhao Rui's shoulder:

"Let him be. He must be thinking of something. I promise you, he is a heaven-shattering genius. He'll burst through this tower soon enough. Just give him a moment."

Yuan Bo had seen firsthand what student Feng Shen was capable of—not just in power, but in the deathly will that drove him:

"Trust me, Zhao Rui, he won't lose."

Zhao Rui glanced to his side, his eyes hardening. "He better not, or else I'll have my own word with him!" His tone was cold, every word dripping with a quiet fury.

He was dead serious.

Losing was not an option.

Zhao Rui spent countless hours bragging to the other instructors about this student, boasting about how they were going to win easily this year.

The thought of failure—of being made a fool in front of them—was unbearable.

It would be worse than death in Zhao Rui's eyes.

Back on the platform…

Calming down a little, Feng Shen took a deep breath, the cold fury simmering beneath his composed exterior.

He knew that now was not the time for a reckless rampage, no matter how tempting it was to silence the crowd and prove his superiority.

Feng Shen's mind sharpened, focusing on the task at hand.

He used Shadow Step. In an instant, he disappeared from the platform, reappearing inside the Tower:

"Hmm~ it seems the kiddos are having fun~."

On the first floor, Feng Shen surveyed the scene with a casual glance, taking in the sight of the dead corpses of monsters scattered around.

A faint shrug of his shoulder was all the acknowledgment he gave. These creatures were nothing more than low level.

With a flicker of impatience in his eyes, Feng Shen turned and continued forward.

Where he then began using Shadow Step once again to burst through the Tower's floors.

Eventually, Feng Shen arrived on the 25th floor, his eyes immediately narrowing at the chaos before him.

A giant Minotaur, towering and fierce, wielded a massive axe with brutal strength. It rampaged across the floor, swinging its weapon violently.

The force of each swing sent shockwaves through the area, causing pillars to collapse, crushing students beneath the wreckage.

Blood and screams as students desperately tried to fight the creature.

Feng Shen's gaze remained cold, almost detached, as he watched the struggle. His lips curled into a slight smirk, amused by what was happening:

"This is too funny~. Well, hopefully they have fun~."

Without batting an eye, Feng Shen slipped past the 25th floor. His movements were precise, almost invisible, as he used Shadow Step to glide through the fray, effortlessly avoiding the panicked students and the swinging Minotaur.

He wasn't interested in wasting time with meaningless battles.

Feng Shen appeared on the 26th floor:

"What's this?"

Before Feng Shen, a giant spider loomed, its dark, bulbous body skittering across the floor with unnerving speed.

Its massive legs were used to weave thick, silken webs that covered nearly every inch of the area.

The webs were sticky and nearly impossible to escape, trapping students who were caught in them.

The spider's glowing red eyes glinted with hunger, and nearby, its numerous baby spiders crawled.

Students struggled, their movements frantic as they tried to free themselves from the sticky threads, but every attempt seemed in vain.

As the giant spider continued its relentless assault on the students, its fangs sinking into those unlucky enough to be caught in the webs…

Instead of dying, the students who were struck by the spider's venomous bite or devoured by its monstrous hunger were suddenly expelled from the Tower, their bodies flickering as if they were being teleported away.

They reappeared at the base of the tower, where they would have to start from the very bottom again, forced to fight their way back up.
