Chapter 76: 76. True Appetite_1
Chapter 76: 76. True Appetite_1
Wang Zhen watched as his pet King (Big Wang) placidly followed Song Tan, and for some reason, his eyes suddenly reddened.
Look at how suave his King was!
When running, his ears would flip up and down, and his body moved so swiftly, like a jungle tiger!
His precious King, his little treasure, oh so adorable, wuwuwu, but now… Tears of sorrow began to flow.
In the distance, the Kangal, which was trotting in front of Song Tan, seemed to sense something and abruptly turned its head—
It saw its owner with tears and snot streaming down his face. Wearing a crumpled trench coat, his slightly yellowed fingers pressed against his face as his shoulders shook, the faint sound of his sobs drifting in the wind.
Without hesitation, it left Song Tan and bolted back, rushing straight towards him and slowing down only as it neared its owner.
In the end, it simply whimpered and walked up to Wang Zhen, sticking out its tongue to lick his tears.
“Woof!”
It barked loudly.
Wang Zhen shivered and couldn’t help but wrap his arms around it: “King! King! My King, wuwuwu…”
The Kangal promptly stood up, its strong and muscular front legs resting on his shoulders, quietly enduring as its owner hugged it tightly, burying his face in its chest, getting a big wet patch of tears on it.
Song Tan watched silently, and although the scene was touching, she couldn’t help but feel a bit amused.
Still, it showed just how gentle the Kangal really was.
It took a while for Wang Zhen to choke back his sobs.
Song Tan, watching him struggle to stuff his hands into his pockets, simply took out two tissues and handed them over.
Wang Zhen grabbed them and began to clumsily wipe his face, then, with a choked voice, he said, “Take good care of him, take good care of him…”
“He’s so good… wuwuwu, my King…”
As tears threatened to spill again, Song Tan sighed—
Sun Shouping used to say that the Kangal was sympathetic to children; perhaps in its eyes, everyone is a baby!
Including its owner.
This tendency to cry at the drop of a hat, no wonder he could cry just watching a dog eat, he’s so emotional.
She could only promise again, “Don’t worry, I can afford to feed it.”
Wang Zhen laughed with a “pfft”: “What nonsense are you talking, girl? Just by looking at your clothes, I can tell you can’t afford to spend a thousand a day.”
Song Tan: …
I was exaggerating, I never intended to feed it that much meat, but do you really have to say it out loud like that?
Wang Zhen, caressing the Kangal’s head lovingly, said, “This dog of mine, called Big Wang. You can change its name when you get home, or keep it as is.”
“I see it’s quite fond of you; that’s rare. I had many friends who used to meet it often, but in the end, it didn’t recognize anyone but took a liking to you.”
He sighed, clearly resolved to his decision.
“As for its food, don’t listen to the exaggerations of Boss Sun; that’s just how he talks. When you buy his dog, he’ll tell you upfront about all the money you might spend and the highest cost you could incur, just to make sure you are aware of what you’re getting into.”
“When I bought the dog, he told me it could eat up to a hundred pounds of meat a day, and it really worried me! But back then, I had the money, and I wanted to show off a bit, so I agreed.”
“Who knew that once I got home, Sun Shouping would tell me the truth: Kangal dogs that can eat a hundred pounds of meat are the ones overseas, brought by their owners on hunting trips for bears and tigers.”
“If we’re raising one ourselves, just walking around our little plot of land, we don’t need that much food; too much would just make it fat.”
Thinking about it, Wang Zhen also sighed—he had mentally prepared himself for a long time before making that decision.
Only when he got home did he learn the truth!
If he had known earlier, why would he have troubled his family about it for so long!
“In any case, it’s not picky. Feed it like other people feed their Golden Retrievers; meat would be better, of course, but if not, it’s fine with dog food too.”
“Boss Sun himself can’t possibly feed them that much meat every day. Think about it, a thousand a day, thirty thousand a month… how much would he have to sell a dog for to make that money back, right?”
“I was just too naive back then, seeing how honest he spoke, I was totally stunned by him!”
Song Tan, who was equally naive, couldn’t help but be speechless.
If Boss Sun had simply told the truth to customers, feed the Kangao Dog as you would feed a Golden Retriever, not everyone would be scared off by its enormous appetite.
But on second thought, even if it only ate dog food, it would still need a large bag for a single meal. If you can’t afford it, you can’t afford it; there’s no need to struggle to scrounge up money just to feed a dog, right?
Wang Zhen made sure everything was clear, bent down to enter the vehicle, and then rummaged out a box.
On top of it was a cream-yellow, shallow enamel basin with a diameter of about thirty centimeters, heavy and substantial.
“Just fill this basin up with dog food, that’s all you need to do each time. When you can afford it, feed it three to five jin of meat every day. If not, it’s fine too.”
“Our Big King is quite genteel when it comes to eating, never scattering food outside the bowl.”
He sighed, constantly stroking the Kangal’s neck, “Here it doesn’t get much exercise. It only eats about two to three times more than a Golden Retriever.”
Then he pulled out a small booklet from the box.
“This has a list of its favorite foods, its vaccination record, a booklet for deworming, and its dog license.”
“Now that you’re taking it back, and since it’s going to be raised in a rural area, it’s up to you whether to handle this stuff.”
Wang Zhen dumped all the items on the ground: “Girl, now you give it a try.”
“Call ‘Big King’ to trot, hold the leash, and then take control of it, feel the pull—that if you can handle it, you are its new owner.”
“Oh, just give a couple of light tugs, that’s enough. Even my wife and I together can’t hold it back, so make sure to let go!”
With reluctance, he let go, watching as Song Tan took over the thick and sturdy leash, and then asked:
“Ready?”
Song Tan nodded, and he commanded:
“Big King! Run, but take it slow.”
In an instant, Big King sprang up, and then its four thick, powerful legs started moving, frolicking freely on the grassland!
Its size was massive, and even at a slow pace, its speed was truly astonishing.
But what surprised Wang Zhen even more was that the girl by its side was keeping up with ease, not looking the slightest bit clumsy—in fact, she almost seemed to handle it effortlessly.
Remembering how he and his wife would lead the dog, huffing and puffing to the point of collapse, he now touched his slightly sticking-out beer belly and couldn’t help but sigh:
“I’m really getting old.”
Meanwhile, inside the dog farm, Sun Shouping had been chatting with an old classmate; he did not expect to turn his head and nearly pop his eyes out:
“What does this mean? They’re really going to give her the Kangal?!”
Zhang Yanping was also clinging to the fence, looking worriedly at the large, black-muzzled, yellow-haired dog outside.
“Can she handle it?”
Whether she could handle it or not, Song Tan knew very well.
At that moment, she also gave a command:
“Stop!”
Then she yanked the leash sharply, and the Kangao Dog, unable to brake in time, came to a sudden halt, its whole body forced to lift its front half off the ground by the pull of the leash!
Its two hind legs firmly planted, bringing its running motion to an abrupt end.
The two-meter-tall frame hung momentarily suspended in mid-air, then slowly, its front paws too returned to the ground.
From start to finish, it hadn’t moved an inch forward after that command.
“Holy shit!”
In the dog farm, Sun Shouping’s cigarette fell from between his fingers.
What do you think?
