Chapter 240: Just Don't Break the Law
Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Just Don’t Break the Law
The detectives arrived quickly, and Zhou You handed over the robbers to them.
On the way back, Qiao Yun stopped by the pharmacy to buy some burn ointment.
She dabbed a little and carefully applied it to Li Hanzhou’s wound.
Seeing how careful she was, Li Hanzhou’s lips curved up in pleasure.
Qiao Yun’s hands were not large, but they were fair with rounded nails.
They were a pair of extremely perfect and beautiful hands.
Li Hanzhou watched her fingers, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down, then he turned his head away.
Shen Qi watched from the side, clicking his tongue internally.@@novelbin@@
It was the first time he had seen Mr. Li so docile.
Lu Zhanxing’s feelings were complicated.
Even if Li Hanzhou really had ulterior motives, he couldn’t really say anything now.
After all, it was rare for his sister to have a good relationship with someone.
But if big brother found out about Li Hanzhou’s intentions, he would probably try to stop his sister from interacting with Li Hanzhou.
In other families, they would be too busy ingratiating themselves.
But Lu Zhanxing knew Lu Jingzhi well.
He believed that the waters of a noble family were deep, and while one could befriend top families, one should not get too involved.
He was afraid of inadvertently stepping on a mine and dragging the Lu Family down with him.
But that concern was still far off, and it all depended on what his sister thought.
Lu Zhanxing felt relieved at the thought, as to him, his sister’s happiness was most important.
Qiao Yun carefully finished applying the medicine, lifted her head, and looked directly at Li Hanzhou with her clear, black and white eyes.
“Thank you,”
“Thank for what?” Li Hanzhou asked.
Qiao Yun said earnestly, “Thank you for the you of the past, and the you of now.”
Li Hanzhou, misunderstanding and thinking she was thanking him for a few past favors, teased, “Is a single thank you enough?”
“What would you like then? As long as it’s not illegal, I can agree to it,” Qiao Yun said very generously.
“I’ll owe it for now and collect later, and by then you cannot refuse. Don’t worry, it won’t be illegal, and you can afford it.”
Li Hanzhou watched Qiao Yun’s naive expression and couldn’t help but laugh uncontrollably, his laughter holding a profound meaning.
Qiao Yun didn’t catch the meaning of his words but nodded obediently, indicating no problem.

By the time Qiao Yun and Lu Zhanxing reached home, it was nearly midnight.
Su Mian was still waiting for them, and on seeing them, she chastised Lu Zhanxing, “Why are you back so late? Your sister is still growing, and staying up late is not good for her growth.”
“Mom, I was wrong, I will be careful in the future,” Lu Zhanxing admitted the responsibility with a forced laugh.
“And I called you, why didn’t you answer? I would have called the police if it was any later.”
“I didn’t see it, it wasn’t intentional.”
“You’re an adult, yet you act like a child.”
Su Mian was primarily worried that Lu Zhanxing had taken Qiaoqiao out too wildly, as he could indeed be quite unreliable sometimes.
“I had a lot of fun,” Qiao Yun knew Su Mian was not really blaming Lu Zhanxing but still felt embarrassed, knowing it was her fault.
Su Mian, seeing how close Qiao Yun and Lu Zhanxing were and how she defended Lu Zhanxing, felt very reassured.
“Your sister is speaking up for you, so I’ll let it go this time.”
“Thanks, Mom, thank you, sister,” Lu Zhanxing said appeasingly.
Seeing that it was very late and they had a flight to catch back to Shangjing the next day, Su Mian told Qiao Yun to hurry to bed.
Once the living room lights were turned off, Lu Ting closed the door she had left slightly ajar.
Sitting on the bed, she thought about the warm interaction among the three of them earlier, feeling as if there was no place for her to fit in.
Her heart welled up with grievances.
If Qiao Yun hadn’t come back, all of this would have been hers.
Why did Qiao Yun have to come back?
Why did she have to wedge herself between her and her family?
She wanted to drive Qiao Yun away but didn’t know how.
As Lu Ting was feeling upset, her phone rang; it was a message from an unknown number.
“Can we meet? I have something to ask you; it won’t take long.”
Lu Ting didn’t even look before deleting it.
She had been receiving messages like this for days and didn’t know which lunatic was sending these harassing texts.
What do you think?
