Chapter 241 - 241 His Benefactor

Chapter 241: Chapter 241 His Benefactor

Su Mian, who rarely got to see Lu Zhanxing, was reluctant to part with him and therefore delayed her return to the capital by booking a flight in the evening.

Lu Zhanxing pushed back his schedule to accompany Su Mian and take in the sights of Hai City.

After several attempts to gauge Lu Zhanxing’s attitude toward Qiao Yun, Lu Ting stopped trying to get closer, afraid that saying too much might reveal her own intentions.

Although she was jealous that her second brother cared more about Qiao Yun than her, she didn’t dare to do anything; she had always been intimidated by Lu Zhanxing.

Qiao Yun was naturally quiet, and if no one spoke to her, she could remain silent all day long.

So, until they boarded the plane, they all shared a rare moment of harmony.

“Take good care of yourself out there, and make sure to talk to your family if anything happens. No matter what, we are a family,” Su Mian advised Lu Zhanxing not to be too tough.

“I know,” Lu Zhanxing was also reluctant to leave his elderly mother.@@novelbin@@

He then said to Qiao Yun, “Sister, make sure to call your brother when you have time.”

“Okay,” Qiao Yun replied softly, her eyes gentle. She was fond of this second brother.

“Tingting, you should too.” Although Lu Zhanxing thought Lu Ting’s thoughts were complex, he was leaving and still wished to leave her with some advice.

“Second brother, I got it,” Lu Ting felt like Lu Zhanxing’s advice to her was just an afterthought.

Soon, it was time to board. Lu Zhanxing watched them get onto the plane, feeling quite sentimental. In just those few days, his life had undergone a major change because of his sister.

If it weren’t for her support, he would likely still be wallowing in self-pity due to Xun Minzhi’s suppression and having given up on his dreams.

Qiao Yun wasn’t just Professor Qiao, she was his sister, and also his benefactor.

When they returned home, Lu’s father and Lu Jingzhi were already waiting for them.

They greeted them warmly, especially Qiao Yun, who had been away from home for the first time.

“How was it out there, sister?” Lu Jingzhi asked.

Qiao Yun replied succinctly yet impressively, “It was good.”

“That’s good to hear,” Lu Jingzhi, unable to discern Qiao Yun’s attitude, further inquired, “Did you make any good friends?”

Qiao Yun lifted her eyelids to look at him and drawled, “I guess so.”

Because of Shen Qi’s thick skin, he was now quasi-friends with Professor Qiao.

Lu Jingzhi was rather pleased to hear this; the rebellious second brother had actually heeded his advice and helped his sister make friends.

“Did the second brother take you out for some fun? What places did you guys visit?” Lu’s father asked with concern.

“Yes, we went to the amusement park, to parties…” Qiao Yun mentioned a few places briefly.

Seeing Qiao Yun’s eyes light up as she spoke, Lu’s father was reassured. The unreliable second son had managed to endear himself to Qiaoqiao in such a short time.

He contemplated talking to the second son, to find out what he had done.

Three months since Qiaoqiao’s return, their relationship was no longer distant, but he still felt a lack of warmth.

“Mom, Dad, big brother, I’m tired. I’m going to rest,” Tingting abruptly stood up, unable to watch their affectionate concern toward Qiao Yun any longer.

“You should rest if you’re tired,” Su Mian spoke up.

Lu Ting sought their attention but it wasn’t as she had expected; she could only manage a forced smile as she went upstairs.

Su Mian, unaware of Lu Ting’s inner thoughts and assuming she was truly tired, said nothing.

However, Lu Jingzhi watched Lu Ting’s defiant departure, his brows slightly knitted, feeling as though his heart had been heavily struck and somewhat suffocated.

Seeing Su Mian in a good mood, Lu’s father took the opportunity to say, “By the way, I bumped into big brother at a reception the other day, and he said that our father has been growing weaker over these past few years, suggesting that we should go see him.”

At those words, Su Mian’s expression immediately turned grim, colder than the Arctic.

“That excuse, Dad used it years ago, and he was hale and hearty,” she said.

She glanced at Qiao Yun, and seeing no reaction, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Sipping her tea, Qiao Yun remained indifferent to Su Mian’s look.
