Hogwarts' Niffler: All I Need Is Galleons

Chapter 72 – The Slytherin descendant who cannot understand Parseltongue

Draco had always felt there was a barrier between Hoare and them.

Back then, he thought it was because Hoare was too busy and impressive. Now, he realized that Hoare might not have been sincere about being friends from the start.

Hoare frowned slightly, feeling a bit puzzled.

He had always thought Draco was the easiest to deal with, as their relationship was mostly about mutual benefits.

He was still the same person, just with a different name; it wasn't a big deal.

As for being friends or not?

Come on, friends don't necessarily have to know everything about each other.

"But I never asked about your family's affairs, did I?" Hoare was puzzled. He hadn't even thought about targeting the Malfoy family.

"Besides, Ron's predicament this time was ultimately because of your father's troubles. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had to reveal my identity." Hoare looked at Draco in confusion. "I'm not even angry, so why are you?"

"What does this have to do with my father!" Draco shouted, his eyes red.

"It was something Voldemort entrusted to your father, and he didn't keep it safe, which led to a series of events," Hoare explained patiently to Draco.

"That's not my father's fault! It's Voldemort's fault!" Draco shouted, then immediately covered his mouth, while Ron looked at him in horror.

Ron stammered, "Hoare, you, you, you and Malfoy said his name!!!"

Hoare shrugged indifferently. "Names are meant to be called, aren't they?"

Realizing what he had said, Draco couldn't hold it in anymore. If it weren't for Hoare, he wouldn't have said that name!

Draco was now both angry and annoyed, wanting nothing more than to rush at Hoare and fight him.

As he moved, Blaise noticed Draco's intention and quickly, along with Pansy, held him back, whispering in Draco's ear, "Draco, Hoare could handle you with just one finger, let it go."

Unable to win in a fight or argument, Draco turned and ran off in frustration.

Harry looked at the fleeing Draco in confusion. "Aren't you going to chase after him?" he asked Blaise and Pansy.

Blaise and Pansy exchanged a glance and shrugged.

Pansy, looking helpless, said to Hoare, "Draco's jealous. You came in and didn't explain to him first."

Clearly, Blaise and Pansy, who grew up as childhood sweethearts with Draco, understood him very well.

Hoare and the Gryffindor trio finally caught on.

Ron looked incredulous. "Hoare is my brother! What's wrong with him coming to me first? Malfoy's crazy!"

Harry quipped, "Draco baby, that name really suits him."

Hoare felt a headache coming on. Oh my—he knew Draco was childish, but he didn't expect him to be this childish!

It almost made him feel guilty about continuing to earn money from Draco!

A hand appeared in front of Hoare, holding 10 Galleons.

He looked up at the person handing him the Galleons.

Pansy, smiling like a flower, said, "Please go find Draco baby."

Ron grumbled discontentedly, "I finally get to see Hoare, and you guys are already giving him tasks—"

Hoare scratched his head and whispered something in Ron's ear, making Ron's eyes light up with stars as he looked at Hoare. "Really?!"

"Yes," Hoare confirmed with a nod.

Ron immediately urged Hoare excitedly, "Go, go, Hoare, you should go."

Hoare took the 10 Galleons from Pansy's hand, smiled helplessly, and turned to find the sulking Draco.

The people in the infirmary watched Ron's drastic change in demeanor, and Harry curiously asked, "What did Hoare say to you?"

Ron was overjoyed. "Hoare said he'd buy me a new wand!"

"That would be my wand! Ron Weasley's wand!" Ron said, his tone full of longing.

---

Meanwhile, Hoare, after running out the door, felt a bit at a loss.

Where could Draco have run off to?

The Marauder's Map had been borrowed by Dumbledore, and he didn't seem to plan on returning it to Hoare anytime soon!

Hoare was frustrated; if he had known, he would have made a copy for himself.

Now he couldn't find anyone.

Suddenly, he seemed to think of something and tapped his wrist where Helena was. "Helena, can you find someone?"

Magical creatures are animals too, and they can communicate with animals, right? There are plenty of small animals at Hogwarts.

Helena spat out her snake tail, yawned lazily, and nodded.

"Help me find Draco, the one with platinum blonde hair, slicked back so smooth a mosquito would slip off."

Helena lazily slid down Hoare's arm, landed on the ground, and slithered into the grass.

Hoare stood in the corridor, waiting for Helena's news.

He suddenly realized something.

If both he and Ron were descendants of Slytherin, why couldn't they understand Parseltongue?

Is it selectively inherited?

Like Tom Riddle inheriting the Gaunt family's Parseltongue talent.

Their family's inherited bloodline?

Hoare's mind was racing with thoughts when Helena returned.

She held her head high like a lord, swaggering.

Hoare thought that if Helena could turn into a human, she'd definitely be standing with her hands on her hips, flaunting her prowess.

"Where is he?" Hoare squatted down to let Helena climb onto his hand.

Helena didn't obediently turn back into a bracelet but instead slithered up Hoare's arm and onto his head.

She flicked her tongue in a direction, as if saying, "Let's go."

Hoare was a bit helpless. "Helena, you know I can't see you pointing the way like this, right?"

Helena hissed twice, and Hoare detected a clear sense of disdain.

She extended her long tail in front of Hoare, pointing in a direction.

Hoare walked in that direction.

When he needed to turn, Helena's tail would twist slightly in advance, making it very intuitive, like a 3D navigation system.

"Isn't that?"

Hoare saw Draco from a distance.

He was now at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, near Hagrid's hut.

Draco was crouched by Hagrid's window, peeking inside with his butt sticking out, looking quite sneaky.

Hoare quietly approached Draco from behind and tapped his shoulder.

"Ahhh!!!" Draco screamed in fright, and Hoare quickly covered his mouth.

"Keep it down!" Hoare peeked inside, relieved to see Hagrid wasn't there, and released his hand.

"What are you doing!" Draco looked at Hoare angrily.

"I should be asking you that. Do you know you look like a peeping tom right now?" Hoare pointed at Draco's current posture.

Draco stood up awkwardly, dusting off his dirty robes. "I have my reasons," he tried to explain.

"Oh?" Hoare crossed his arms, ready to hear his excuse.

Seeing Hoare's stance, Draco rolled his eyes and then flashed a malicious smile. "I'm going to report Hagrid!"

"I'm going to tell my father!"
