Chapter 1099: Status Quo
"...To think that I would get to leave that hellhole..."
The young time lord’s followers felt like they were dreaming as they escaped from the world of the Aetherians. Even though he had promised to take them out of that world after he found what he was looking for, they weren’t sure if he would keep his word.
Would they even survive until then, especially in a world where they could die at any moment if they encountered Aetherians? That question had haunted them constantly.
Only now could they truly believe they had returned. They could go back to their clans and receive better treatment. They could return to civilization.
They no longer had to worry about fighting for survival every day. They no longer had to waste time collecting crystals. They could simply relax in the luxury of their homes.
When they first entered the world of the Aetherians, they weren’t as important to their clans as the heirs. Now that they had returned, they were sure things would be different.
Fighting for their survival every day had made them stronger. They had also gathered many useful treasures left behind by those who had died in that world.
They knew it wasn’t possible for them to become the heirs of their clans, especially since they were now acquainted with the time lord’s son.
Almost all of them turned to the young time lord and knelt.
"We will never forget your favor. We survived only because of your help. If you need us for anything, even if we have to put our lives on the line, or walk through fire, we promise to never hesitate for even a second!"
They swore their oaths in unison. It wasn’t a downgrade. They were going to serve the descendant of the time lord who could even bring the dead back to life.
The time lord was one of the highest authorities in this world, almost comparable to the Emperor. Following his son was beneficial to them. It allowed them to intimidate their own clans into making them the heirs.
The young lord didn’t seem to pay attention to them. He simply nodded while crushing a crystal. He was still concerned about the things that they had seen, his back still drenched in sweat as he stood in empty space.
The others didn’t heckle him either. They also crushed their own respective crystals, which sent a signal to their families that they had returned from the Battlefield of Death.
Their families had already considered them dead. That’s why, there was a huge commotion across their clans when the signals arrived.
The leaders of the clan immediately ordered their followers to send a battleship to bring them back.

It was said that those who survived the battlefield of death and returned alive, were like dragons that were accompanied by great luck. Not only were they returning as strong, but they also brought many treasures.
That’s why sending their descendants to the battlefield was like a gambling for them, especially for smaller clans.
They just came to learn that they had won the lottery! They didn’t want to make even the slightest mistake in bringing their descendants back.
Many battleships departed from their respective clans. Traveling through the space, they arrived at the marked location.
Three battleships arrived, and the doors opened. The warriors stepped out of the battleship, and approached the descendants of their clans.
"Young Lord, welcome back! The Clan Leader is looking forward to welcoming you home!" They went down on a knee, respectfully greeting the youngsters that could become the future of their clans.
In their eyes, those who had returned from the battlefield were even more important than the present heirs.
They could even see that these people had truly grown much stronger, to the point that even they felt somewhat intimidated with the thick scent of blood in their auras.
"Lord Zeisi, why don’t you come with us? Our ship is the most secure. We would safely bring you back home."
"No! Come with us! Our battleship is the fastest."
The warriors that had arrived to bring the clan descendants back, were looking at each other in confusion.
They thought their young lords were going to return with them. However, their descendants seem to be fighting for the attention of that unknown young man who didn’t even have any clan Insignia on his clothes.
They wondered if it was a descendant of some poor clan that had become friends with their young master. Was he trying to use the goodwill of their young lord to climb higher in authority?
They had heard many stories about people brainwashing important descendants of clans so they could also rise. Why else would their young lords talk to that beggar-like man in such a manner?
They could feel a powerful aura from their young lords, but they couldn’t feel anything from that young man, which made them further look down on him.
It was said that even a weakling could become a powerful warrior in the battlefield of death if he managed to survive until they escaped. It was exactly what happened to their young lords as they were beginning with strength, unable to even control their powerful aura.
Meanwhile, that young man felt extremely weak. If he was so weak even after surviving for so long, it made them believe that he was only a coward that didn’t fight at all.
’He probably only hid behind our young lord, and managed to survive like a coward.’
’If I bring a greedy coward like him, the Patriarch won’t be happy. I can’t let him leech off the young Lord, who is destined for a bright future."
The envoys of their respective clans were thinking the same thing. None of them wanted that man to come with them. They had to stop their lords.
"Young Lord, our ship is indeed the safest of the three, but something seems to be wrong with the ship. There is some technical error, which might take a long time to repair. We might have to wait here for a few hours," one of the envoys took the lead, trying to push that mess on other envoys.
"Ah, what a coincidence! Same thing happened to our ship. We don’t even have proper maintenance equipment. We have already sent a signal to the clan for help. They will arrive in a few hours, so we might take even longer."
What do you think?
