Chapter 51 51 Where You Are, There I Am
Qiao Suisui felt somewhat troubled.
How should she answer?
To say she liked him? But she knew clearly that her feelings for Leberli hadn't reached that level. To say she didn't like him? Then how would she explain the fact that she was currently pregnant with Leberli's child?
She lowered her eyelids, not too keen on directly answering this question. However, the man in front of her clearly wasn't willing to let her off so easily.
Ruka's hand caressed her cheek and he bent down to kiss her lips.
"Suisui, I want to understand your true thoughts."
Truth be told, being with her, Ruka never really made many demands, not even bringing up the position of a mate. It wasn't because he didn't want to but because he didn't want to pressure her.
But there were parts of him that couldn't compromise, such as wanting to know who she truly cared about more in her heart.
At first, he thought there might be some kind of bond between Zong Fang and her, but ever since he saw Zong Fang get injured to protect her and she hadn't inquired about his condition even once to this day, Ruka knew she didn't have feelings for this man. He let out a huge sigh of relief for that.
Yet her feelings for Leberli were somewhat different; not only was she carrying his offspring, but she also harbored some concerns for him. Although Suisui didn't show much of this, Ruka could keenly sense it.
Moreover, Leberli's recent power grab had given Ruka an unprecedented sense of urgency. In the end, his loyalty was to Auslan's Sun, and when the time came, if Leberli were to try to take her away from him, he would stop at nothing to fight against him. But what if that was what Suisui hoped for... If she liked Leberli and wanted to be by his side...
"Ruka, what are you worried about?" Qiao Suisui still didn't answer but instead wrapped her arms around his neck and asked him softly.
"I..." His large hand landed on her waist, the heat from his palm raising her temperature. "I guess the first thing Leberli will do after his succession is come to take you back to the Imperial Court. By then, will you go with him?"
"I won't."
Her answer came quickly yet firmly.
The light gold pupils blinked in shock, his arms holding her grew tighter, and his throat felt constricted. He asked, "Why?"
"Because I have the life I want to live." Qiao Suisui smiled faintly, gazing at Ruka and asking, "What about you? Would you be willing to stay in this secluded place and live with me?"
Ruka did not answer, but upon closer inspection, one could see his fingertips trembling. But to Qiao Suisui, he had already answered because the love in his eyes was spilling over.
"Wherever you are, that's where I'll be."
After speaking, the man kissed her deeply, their lips and tongues entwining.
As Qiao Suisui was being kissed, Ruka gently laid her down on the soft bed, his large hand firmly clasping her small one, his fingers deeply interlocking with hers.
Although Ruka still hadn't received her direct answer, he now felt that none of it mattered anymore. What was important was that she had invited him into her life, and that made his heart feel completely filled.
Despite the good soundproofing of the small building, the hearing of a Beastman was very sensitive.
Carl on the first floor was initially startled upon hearing the soft moans coming from upstairs, then he frowned, his irritation growing stronger.
At night, the cool breeze dispersed the amorous atmosphere of the room.
Ruka gently gazed at the person who had fallen asleep and pulled the blanket up for her, kissing her forehead before leaving the room.
He hadn't fed the young ones raw meat today, so after a quick shower, he went to the kitchen, just in time to bump into Carl coming from the living room.
The two men exchanged a look and saw displeasure in each other's eyes.
"Why are you here?"
Carl had been on a special mission and was equipped with a Stealth Device, which was why Ruka hadn't noticed his presence right away.
"I am her guest," Carl said with a raised eyebrow and a smile, whistling. "Colonel Sikoses sure has energy, so busy during the day, yet still so 'busy' when he comes back."
Ruka ignored his sarcastic tone and went to the kitchen to prepare the raw meat, but he was somewhat distracted. There was another male in the house, and Suisui hadn't mentioned a word about it to him.
Because he was completely different in front of others than he was in front of Qiao Suisui, he now almost had "No Trespassing" written across his face, exuding a chill temperament.
And Carl, that anomaly, wasn't afraid of him in the slightest, and even seemed to find him particularly disagreeable—a feeling that hadn't existed the first time they met. When had it started? Perhaps it was after he heard Ruka unreservedly making someone cry just now, or maybe even earlier, when he saw Ruka rescue her from Zong Fang's hands and stay by her side ever since... no matter how he looked at it, Ruka was an eyesore. Logically, Ruka's military rank was actually much higher than Carl's. Though they belonged to different departments, a certain level of respect was expected.
"By the way, is the little boss feeling better?" Carl asked lazily, leaning against the doorframe.
At the question, Ruka turned to look at him, frowning, "What do you mean?"
With an innocent face, Carl's tone was exaggerating, "You don't know? She threw up this afternoon; she seemed very uncomfortable. Eh? She didn't tell you?"
Ruka recalled Suisui's somewhat pale face when he returned and suddenly forgot the next step while holding a bowl.
Carl smirked coldly and continued with a chill tone, "Colonel, even if you have good physical strength, you should still take care of a female's health." With that, he went back to his own room.
The man in the kitchen stood holding the bowl, head bowed as if lost in thought, and when he came to, he saw the metal spoon in his hand twisted out of shape.
The next day, when Qiao Suisui woke up, it was already noon. As usual, she went downstairs to eat something but saw two men in the living room, glaring at each other in silence, the atmosphere extremely tense.
"You guys..."
"Awake?" Ruka got up the moment he saw her, touched her head, and asked, "Hungry? You haven't eaten since last night; you were sleeping so deeply I didn't want to wake you."
Their intimacy made Carl snort in displeasure. His arms spread out on the back of the sofa, he lounged in it, giving Qiao Suisui a nod with his chin, "Little boss, I haven't eaten either."
Qiao Suisui, holding utensils, blinked and politely responded, "Why don't we eat together?"
Carl smiled wickedly, and after seeing the dark look on the face of the man behind her, he said with satisfaction, "Sure."
In truth, neither of the men ate much during the meal. Carl, who often went on missions, was used to going without food and always got by on a Nutrient Liquid. Ever since Ruka found out about Suisui's human identity, he started learning about human customs. Even though he had no desire for food, he enjoyed the time spent eating with her, so with another male at the table, he spent the whole meal trying to suppress his irritation.
Qiao Suisui felt uncomfortable under the constant gaze of the two men opposite her, so she brought up a topic.
"Do you guys know what the Battle of Twin Wings really is? Why can't I find any information about it on Star Nebula?"
What do you think?
