Chapter 197 An Unpredictable End
The battle was far from over, both sides now locked in a full-scale war. The Dracolich clashed against the twin guardians, Seraphina and Horizon exchanged devastating blows, while the rest of their teammates pushed their limits in a desperate struggle for victory.
Neither side held back.
It was no longer just a tournament match.
It was a fight to prove who was the strongest.
Seraphina gritted her teeth as her sword clashed against Horizon's. Sparks flew as steel met steel, the force of their blows sending shockwaves rippling through the battlefield. She had expected him to hold back at least a little, but he fought with the full intent to win—perhaps even to crush them.
So that's how it is, huh?
Seraphina adjusted her stance, her celestial blade gleaming as she pushed forward. She wasn't about to let Horizon overpower her. Meanwhile, chaos erupted all around them.
The Dracolich let out a bone-chilling roar, its eerie, glowing eyes locking onto Wingless Valkyrie's formation. With a powerful flap of its massive, skeletal wings, it unleashed a torrent of dark energy, aiming to obliterate their ranks in one swift strike. Find exclusive stories on My Virtual Library Empire
But Aria, Dawnfire, and Fiora had been ready.
Aria's voice rang out like a siren's call, her [Hymn of Harmony] weaving a protective melody through the battlefield. The magic rippled outward, amplifying Fiora's nature-based incantations. Vines as thick as tree trunks erupted from the ground, wrapping around the Dracolich's limbs to restrain its movements.
"Now!" Fiora shouted, her [Summon Guardian Wolf] activating in a flash of emerald light.
A monstrous wolf, nearly the size of the Dracolich itself, materialized on the battlefield. Its fur shimmered like silver stardust, and its eyes gleamed with intelligence and ferocity. It pounced, snapping its enormous jaws at the undead dragon's throat, forcing it back.
At the same time, Dawnfire took the opportunity to summon her [Phoenix Rebirth].
A phoenix of blazing fire emerged from the sky, its wings wreathed in flames that burned hotter than the sun. The bird circled the battlefield before diving at the Dracolich, colliding against it with an explosion of radiant fire.
The combination of the Guardian, the Wolf and the Phoenix held the Dracolich at bay. The undead beast thrashed, trying to break free, but it was clear—the Wingless Valkyries had the upper hand.
Seeing their opening, Seraphina pressed the attack against Horizon.
"You're wide open!" she called out, her [Heavenly Strike] activating. A crescent arc of holy light slashed through the air toward Horizon.
But Von intercepted at the last second, his twin pistols blazing. Bullets of condensed mana shattered the light blade mid-air, stopping it just inches before it could reach Horizon.
"Tsk." Seraphina clicked her tongue, retreating just in time to avoid Frigid's counterstrike. The massive ice tank swung his frozen war hammer toward her, the sheer force of the attack threatening to break the ground beneath her.
Before he could strike again, Velvet appeared like a shadow, her daggers flashing toward Frigid's exposed side.
"Not so fast," Lydia countered, blocking Velvet's strike. The two vanished into a blur, their battle becoming a deadly dance of agility and precision.
For a moment, it seemed as though Wingless Valkyrie would overwhelm Horizon's team. The Dracolich was restrained, and their warriors were pushing forward.
But Horizon wasn't perturbed.
"Fine," he said, raising his hand. "If one beast isn't enough—then how about two?"
With a sharp whistle, the sky darkened.
From above, a monstrous hawk with a wingspan larger than a warship descended, its feathers shimmering like polished steel. Its talons crackled with lightning, and with a deafening screech, it dove straight toward Wingless Valkyrie's formation.
The Giant Hawk struck with terrifying speed. In a single swoop, its razor-sharp claws slashed through Fiora's vines, freeing the Dracolich.
The moment the undead dragon regained its movement, it unleashed a devastating pulse of necrotic energy, sending shockwaves across the battlefield.
The battlefield erupted into chaos.
The Guardian Wolf snarled in pain as dark energy crackled through its body, struggling to maintain its form. The Phoenix let out a screech, its flames flickering as the necrotic wave threatened to snuff it out.
"Fiora! Reinforce the Guardian!" Aria commanded, her voice urgent.
"I'm trying!" Fiora's hands glowed with green energy as she poured all her mana into strengthening her summoned beast. But the Dracolich was now free, and it wasn't holding back.
With a single sweep of its tail, it sent the Wolf crashing into the ground. The beast let out a pained whimper before dissolving into golden light.
"No—" Fiora gasped.
Dawnfire narrowed her eyes, launching a [Molten Rain] spell toward the Giant Hawk, but the creature was too fast. It dodged effortlessly, circling above like a predator waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Wingless Valkyrie had lost their advantage.
Seraphina glanced at Horizon, who was watching the battle with an unwavering gaze. His smile was gone—his expression was focused, calculating.
He wasn't holding back anymore.
And neither would she.
"Velvet! Aria! Dawnfire!" Seraphina called, her voice commanding. "We're ending this now."
The battle was far from over—but now, it was time for Wingless Valkyrie's true strength to shine.
The entire arena shook with the deafening cheers of the audience. It was a mix of excitement, disbelief, and pure admiration.@@novelbin@@
At the start of the match, the crowd had been overwhelmingly in favor of Wingless Valkyrie—after all, they were a first-rate guild, known worldwide for their dominance. Their members were famous not only for their strength but for their beauty, each with dedicated fan clubs that filled the stands.
But now?
The entire arena was watching in awe as Horizon turned the tide of battle single-handedly.
Most Tamers were glass cannons, relying entirely on their summoned creatures to fight while staying in the backlines. They lacked movement speed, defense, and close-quarters combat abilities. If an enemy got close, most Tamers would crumble under pressure.
But Horizon?
He fought like a true melee combatant.
His bladework was masterful, precise, and unrelenting. He wasn't just swinging blindly while hiding behind his summons—he was engaging Seraphina head-on, trading blows with one of the strongest swordswomen in the world.
What do you think?
