Chapter 136: Chapter 136 Wang Qiang Injured
Axi executed a tactical roll into the restroom with the door open, yet his gun remained aimed at the room’s door.
Han Xue didn’t seem to care, and she too didn’t let her guard down, her finger lingering on the remote control’s button.
After all, Han Xue couldn’t be sure.
The police might be planning to catch them all in one fell swoop.
While closing the door, Han Xue took another glance at the corridor and stairwell, saw that there was still no movement in the stairwell, then she closed the room door.
Han Xue leaned against the tightly closed door, her ear pressed to it, listening for any sounds in the hallway.
Axi also crept out slowly, pressing his head against the door.
Throughout the process, neither of them spoke.
They were like two statues, maintaining their poses with their ears against the door.
Even their breathing was unconsciously slowed.
Fearful that any noise might be too loud and they would miss the best chance to counterattack.
In the room, they were sitting ducks!
This was the fifth floor, escaping by jumping out the window was simply not realistic, their only options were to fight their way out or get caught and sent back to prison.
…
“Where is the suspect now?”
Rushing up the stairs, Wang Qiang pressed the talk button on the walkie-talkie, asking.
“Report, the suspect fled to the sixth floor!”
A response came from the walkie-talkie.
Upon hearing this, Wang Qiang put away the walkie-talkie.
His current location was the stairs from the sixth to the seventh floor.
The backup team should have already reached the sixth floor.
The suspect could likely continue escaping upwards to the seventh floor.
“Da da da…”
Disordered footsteps came from downstairs.
Wang Qiang narrowed his eyes, his hand on his gun at his waist.
A delivery guy in yellow uniforms came into Wang Qiang’s view.
The delivery guy charged at Wang Qiang.
Under the yellow helmet, a pair of sinister eyes emitted a fierce gleam.
“Get out of the way!”
Upon seeing Wang Qiang, the delivery guy shouted harshly.
“Freeze, police!”
Once he recognized the person, he needed to catch him.
Wang Qiang hesitated not even a fraction of a second, drawing his duty gun and aiming it at the delivery guy.
The delivery guy’s eyes sparkled with a cold light as a dagger suddenly appeared in his hand, thrusting straight towards Wang Qiang.
Wang Qiang’s brows furrowed, hesitating for 0.1 seconds.
He decided against shooting and switched off the safety.
He lifted his foot, kicking towards the hand of the delivery guy holding the dagger.
The delivery guy, obviously well-trained in combat, faced Wang Qiang’s attack with cold eyes, spinning the blade of the dagger towards Wang Qiang’s Achilles tendon.
It was clear what the delivery guy intended.
He aimed to overpower his opponent in one swift move, bringing down Wang Qiang in the shortest time possible.
Wang Qiang quickly retracted his leg, dodging the incoming dagger.
The delivery guy took advantage of the moment to press forward, stabbing the dagger towards Wang Qiang’s stomach.
Seeing this, Wang Qiang also became ruthless.
He twisted to the side, evading the blade.
The butt of his service gun smashed towards the delivery guy’s head.
On the narrow stairway, Wang Qiang and the delivery guy tangled fiercely, any small mistake could lead to a stabbing or falling down the stairs.
Soon, detectives chasing after them flooded into the stairwell, what met their eyes was a spilled blood and Wang Qiang lying on the stairs, clutching his stomach.
“Team leader!”
“Boss!”
The detectives, shocked and alarmed, shouted as they rushed towards Wang Qiang.
“Hurry, chase him, he’s injured…”
Wang Qiang said faintly, clutching his bleeding stomach.
“Quick, call an ambulance!”
Someone yelled loudly.
“Go chase him!”
Wang Qiang shouted with all his strength.
“Xiaowang, Xiaochen, you two take care of the team leader, everyone else follow me and chase!”
Deputy Chief of the Major Case Unit shouted loudly.
On the staircase from the sixth to the seventh floor, each step had either a large or small pool of blood.
Apparently, the delivery boy had also been injured.
Five minutes later, an ambulance arrived.
Doctors and nurses in blue emergency uniforms gave Wang Qiang emergency hemostasis, carried him out of the staircase on a stretcher, took the service elevator down to the first floor, and then loaded him into an ambulance from behind the hotel.
Ten minutes later!
Another ambulance stopped at the back door of the hotel.
Two casualties were carried out of the hotel on stretchers.
One of them, an unconscious casualty, wore a yellow delivery uniform stained red with blood.
…
Fifth floor!
Room 512!
Axi and Han Xue, peering out the window, watched the ambulance downstairs and exchanged glances.
“It seems something really happened in the hotel,” Axi said in a grave voice.
“Didn’t hear any gunshots, did you?”
Han Xue blinked, mumbling her confusion.
“Didn’t see, they all used the back door. Probably they wanted to avoid causing panic,” Axi mentioned offhandedly, before opening the shopping bag on the nightstand, grabbing a can of beer, and started drinking.
“Whew…”
“Good thing it’s not for us.”
“Scared me to death!”
Han Xue patted her chest, revealing a frightened expression.
“Fang Xiaocao is in room 508, do you have any plans?” Axi asked casually after taking a sip of beer.
“Are you sure?”
“Where did you get that information?”
Han Xue sat on the bed, crossing her legs, and asked with a puzzled look.
“I’m sure!” Axi explained after downing another gulp of beer,
“After you left this afternoon, the cleaning staff came up to service the entire floor’s rooms. I personally heard someone in room 508 refuse housekeeping services.”
Upon hearing Axi’s words, Han Xue nodded her head.
“We’ll figure it out in the long run!”
“Now with the police all around, getting Fang Xiaocao and then evacuating won’t be easy,” Han Xue mused before speaking.
Axi nodded, didn’t say anything, and just kept drinking his beer.
…
In Room 507!
Fang Xiaocao’s mobile screen lit up.
She quickly picked up her phone and unlocked the screen.
[Tom: “Princess Your Highness, I have succeeded in sharing the hotel’s surveillance system. I will send you a link shortly, and you can download an app to monitor the hotel live.”]
“Fantastic!”
Upon seeing Tom’s message, Fang Xiaocao couldn’t conceal her surprise.
“Okay, send it to me quick!”
Fang Xiaocao replied to Tom’s message eagerly.
Shortly after, Tom sent her a link.
eagerly clicked on the link and began downloading the app.
[Tom: “Princess Your Highness, what do you need me to do next?”]
“Don’t rush, take a break for a while. I’ll watch the surveillance, then plan further,” Fang Xiaocao replied to the message and started to check the surveillance through the downloaded app.
Fang Xiaocao recalled the time the mother and son checked in at noon, and began reviewing the surveillance footage.
She had a hunch, the mother and son were suspicious, likely Han Xue and Axi.
…
At the city bureau!
Song Lin received the news about Wang Qiang’s injuries.
He immediately set out for the hotel to take over Wang Qiang’s command.
Although they had caught the assassin, Han Xue hadn’t appeared yet. Song Lin decided to use Fang Xiaocao as bait to continue fishing for Han Xue.
What do you think?
