Chapter 729 Another Wave
Aurdis kept channeling her own Magic energy into the orb. The pressure was immense, but she believed she could handle it, at least for now.
She knew that this predicament would only get much worse later, but she had to hold on for as long as possible. Maybe Saeldir would wake up and be able to create a new kind of diagram and formation to strengthen the Magic barrier.
But she couldn't rely on Saeldir forever. She had no idea what kind of injuries he had sustained in that world. He might need more time to recover from his condition.
"Can you hold on, Princess?" one of the Mages beside her asked, his tone filled with concern and worry.
"I'm... fine," Aurdis replied in a strained voice. "Just focus on making something that can reinforce this barrier. But quickly, please."
The mage nodded and immediately got to work. The other mages who overheard Aurdis's words also focused on their tasks.
There was no use in asking about Aurdis's condition—it wouldn't make things any better. The only thing they could do now was concentrate on their duty.

King Gulben and everyone in the throne room listened as the mage delivered the message from those stationed at the magic barrier orb.
The situation had worsened—quickly. They were beginning to regret the decision to send scouts to Laston's world. Not only had it left their best mages and fighters injured, but they had also gained no significant information, except for one terrifying fact: Laston had another, even more dreadful army of metal constructs ready to be unleashed at any time.
King Gulben suddenly rose from his throne. He turned towards the corner of the room, where he kept a tome of great power. He knew the time would come when he would have to draw on its power.
But the king was reluctant to use it, for doing so would reveal a secret meant only for the King of the Elf Palace.
"Contact Fairon. Ask about the condition of his army," King Gulben ordered the mage.
"Understood, Your Majesty," the mage replied before immediately carrying out his command.
King Gulben walked to the balcony once more, his sharp eyes scanning the battle outside. The glow of the magic barrier, struck by relentless attacks, reflected in his blue eyes.
The advisors and generals said nothing. They didn't know what was going through the king's mind, but it was certainly nothing other than the dire situation they now faced—and what was about to unfold in the near future.
---
Meanwhile, Laston was actually already in this world. He hovered above the clouds, watching everything happening in front of the Elf Palace. His expression remained calm, almost amused, as if he were enjoying an entertaining spectacle.
Beside him, Dredge and Veyna also floated in the air, observing the scene below with their enhanced vision.
Based on what they both observed, the Elf Palace was actually putting up a considerable resistance. Even with the armies of primitive creatures equipped with exo-suits, the palace remained unscathed, its white walls untouched.
The shimmering, invisible barrier also seemed incredibly strong. Despite being bombarded by hundreds of projectiles, it still held firm.
"They're not as weak as I thought," Veyna remarked.
"What do you mean? We've barely even used our real force," Dredge responded, his expression tense as he narrowed his eyes toward the palace.
"But where is the Dragonborn?" Veyna asked.
They had yet to see the Dragonborn, nor could they sense his presence anywhere nearby. That meant he was still inside the palace.
"Ugh, why won't he come out?" Dredge ran a hand through his hair in frustration, his tone filled with irritation.
"Just wait. He will," Laston said calmly, though in truth, he was also waiting for Erend to appear.
But Laston wasn't worried. The Dragonborn would come out eventually. Especially if the situation became truly dangerous.
"It's time to launch the next wave," Laston ordered, his gaze shifting to Dredge. Since Dredge controlled half of the army while Veyna commanded the other half, he was the one responsible for initiating the next phase of the assault.
"Yes, my lord." Dredge wasted no time. He raised his left hand and pressed the screen on his wrist. A moment later, a voice echoed in his head, confirming that the army was ready.
Deep down, Dredge wanted to fight the Dragonborn once more and prove that he was stronger. But he wasn't sure he'd get that chance.
Laston carried far more hatred and resentment toward that creature than he did. After all, it was the Dragonborn who had nearly killed him a long time ago.
In the end, Dredge decided to simply enjoy the destruction of the Elf Palace and all its inhabitants.
The Dragonborn would be devastated when he saw the people he wanted to protect reduced to ruin.
Another set of portals appeared on the ground, glowing with the same color as the ones they had used to enter this world.
From within the portals, hundreds of Hexa-Striders—Laston's metal soldiers—emerged. They marched in near-perfect unison, the sound of their metallic footsteps echoing across the battlefield.
Dredge grinned wildly. Without his mask, his clean white teeth were fully visible.
"Now, let's see if your primitive power can stand against these metal soldiers," he muttered, excitement flashing in his eyes as he waited to witness the Elves' downfall.
---
Some of the archers, soldiers, and Mages stationed atop the walls and towers froze as they witnessed the portals splitting open across the battlefield.
From the swirling rifts, the metallic soldiers emerged. Their sleek armored bodies gleaming under the barrier's glow.
Their synchronized march sent a chilling rhythmic sound through the air.
"W-What are those things?" A young archer, his hands trembling on his bowstring, gasped and said with disbelive.
"They look like golems, but… different," a Mage beside him muttered, his voice uncertain. "They're powered by magic and something else entirely! Just like that metal birds."
Another Elf soldier narrowed his eyes, gripping his sword tightly. "They're the constructs of metal and death. This is another of Laston's abominations!" He said.
"Warn the others! Get word to the commanders! These things are different from the waves before!" One of the leader said.
The young archer swallowed hard before turning and shouting toward the lower levels of the wall. "New enemies incoming! Metal warriors from the portals! They're everywhere!"
Another mage who was positioned at a higher vantage point, sent a Magical signal. It was a flare of light streaking through the sky that alerted those who couldn't hear the warnings.
Down below, within the palace grounds, soldiers and Mages who had been catching their breath looked up as the call reached them.
"What? More of them?" one soldier exclaimed, gripping his spear tighter.
"And they're made of metal completely? That's insane," another muttered, eyes widening.
---
Inside the throne room, the urgent warnings reached the commanders, advisors, and King Gulben himself. The tension in the air thickening as the weight of the situation sank in.
King Gulben kept his voice steady, ensuring it remained calm despite the tense situation. He turned to one of his generals and said, "Order your troops to engage the enemy at the edge of the magic barrier. That way, we can attack them while still remaining protected by the barrier."
The general nodded and immediately ran toward his main army.
He was one of several generals awaiting orders before mobilizing his forces. The others remained in place, awaiting further instructions. King Gulben took a brief moment to think before turning to the remaining generals.
"You all should prepare your troops as well. We don't know when or where they'll strike again," the king said.
Upon hearing his command, the generals swiftly left the room to join their respective armies, readying themselves for the battle that might happen at a y time.
---
The massive gates of the Elf Palace creaked open, and the Elven army marched forward in perfect formation.
Their armor gleamed under the Magical barrier's glow, their weapons drawn and ready.
They halting at the very edge of the barrier. From this vantage point, they had the advantage—protected from enemy attack while still able to launch their own attacks.
Beyond the shimmering barrier, the metal soldiers advanced in synchronized movements.
The Hexa-Striders, Laston's mechanical creations, moved with terrifying precision, their metallic limbs clanking against the ground.

Then, the battle began.
The Elven warriors clashed with the advancing Hexa-Striders. The Elves held their ground just behind the Magical barrier, using it as both a shield and a tactical advantage.
The metal soldiers marched in relentless waves, their mechanical limbs moving in perfect synchronization, their glowing red eyes unblinking.
Elven swordsmen and spearmen thrust their weapons through openings in the barrier, striking at the enemy with precision. Every attack found its mark and and manage to severing joints, piercing weak points in the exo-armor but the Hexa-Striders did not falter.@@novelbin@@
They pressed forward, swinging their heavy metal arms with crushing force, though their strikes bounced harmlessly off the shimmering shield.
Above, archers provided cover, loosing arrows tipped with enchanted steel.
Some found their way into the narrow gaps between the Hexa-Striders' plating but others deflected off their reinforced armor.
The Elves fought fiercely, disciplined and calculated, knowing the barrier gave them an edge. But it wouldn't last forever.
